Medicine cats are supposed to protect all cats equally regardless of clan, they don’t have mates or kits because it would create a bias as to which lives to save. An example could be not wanting to cure a cat who killed your mate or preferring to help a mildly sick offspring instead of a very sick other. It is logical for them to not have families but since the clans are very recent and there are very few that have experience with herbs and an actual connection to StarClan for now it could be allowed.
My point being that right now it should be allowed because of the narrative’s necessity but when the rules are set similar issues can be argued in-game as the characters shape the world. However it is up to Otter, I'm just giving my opinion.
