Fantastic. I'll put a CS Format up after I eat dinner. Happy to see this has gathered some interest.
Bump.
Unless it is decided otherwise, I see no reason a sorcerer can't use the same spell more than four times in a fight, though I'll have to have some system to restrict the use of spells like Fog and Time Warp/Time Walk. Decks will be recorded in the CS if you want to be that specific, but all I'm going to require is a specification of what color/colors the character specializes in and the type of magics they tend to use, like destruction and conjuration for example.
So the cast is a group of summoners from an "exiled" universe that can use magic as if the player's library was their hand and milling out isn't a issue? Every turn a little more mana is added to the pool at a flat rate? What about the decks that depend on mana ramp to hit fast and hard? (ie mono-green elf deck.) How will you deal with players who want to claim their characters have access to over 60 cards worth of spells and lands, like the most basic anti-mill decks?

okay, that's enough questions for now. I love the idea.

Correct, correct.

Having a deck that increases the rate at which you play lands will decrease the individual's "mana timer", witer temporarily or permanently.

The cool thing is, I don't care how many cards your character has access to. As long as the amount is reasonable, it's fine. I think the biggest hurdle for players in this is going to be taking the fact that this is based on a card game, but is going to function in a more realistic manner. This is going to depend less on the strength of one's deck (though that is still important) and more on the character's strength as a sorcerer.

I love to explain things, and asking questions like this definitely helps me work out the kinks. Feel free to ask as many as you want.

I would totally take part in this. I play Magic all the time. If you really end up doing this hit me up. @CourierSix

Fantastic! Great to hear. Interest from one more person and I'll trow up that CS format.
Hello everyone. I'd like to bring to the table what I believe is a unique idea, at least in the sense that I've not come across it before. A Magic roleplay, based off the card game many of us know and love. Ever had a Planeswalker OC that you've never had the opportunity to use before? Slap your ideas onto a CS and join the RP.

I'm hoping for the RP to go like this: the cast are group of our characters that all travel together in search of one particular Planeswalker. Who it is, nobody knows, but the cast were deeply affected by the atrocity, each in their own personal way. In their hunt for the truth, they eventually cross paths with each other and team up to take down the killer.

What's the atrocity, you ask? The unspeakable crime committed is an act which no one had ever thought possible before- someone has destroyed a universe. Not just leveled it an left the biggest ruin ever, but it has disappeared off the maps without a trace- gone, as though it never existed. The only people who know that the universe disappeared for certain are the cast and a select few individuals out there who are a bit more... Enlightened.

Before I go any further, here are the rules. Basic, mostly standard. You should be fine.

•Post twice a week, bare minimum. Inactivity will not be tolerated, as leaving other players waiting is what kills RPs. You want or have to leave, let us know.

•No Godmodding. Obviously.

•Romance is okay, but not the 18+ stuff. This will be a public thread, so keep it friendly to the wandering eye.

•Want a second character, or have an idea for an original spell? Run it by me so I cam make sure it isn't too "broken", as they say, and have me approve it.

That aside, I wanna clarify a few things. This is a RP based off of a card game, and as such needs to be augmented a bit. This will be more than open to branching out past conjuration magic. That is, destruction spells, alreration spells and etc. wipp be a thing for EVERY color. Also, the mana system will work in a time-based manner. Once in combat, you will need time to unlock all the lands you've been to, so one does not need to worry about playing lands. Just give it a reasonable amount of time, and slowly start using stronger spells as time goes on.

Also, do not worry about hands. Real life magicians don't have to worry about whether the spell they need is randomly drawn when they need it, so why should you?

If I had anything else in mind, then it's gone but will probably be posted when it comes back to me. When we get 4 players, I'll post the CS skeleton, then see if we can't get a few more.

Character Sheet Skeleton-

Name:
Age:
Race:
Appearance:
Mana: (Tell what color(s) of mana your character uses in their magic. There is no limit to the range of colors you can use, but understand that in exchange for diversity, your character will be less skilled with that color than someone who uses only one or two different colors.)
Role: (Is your planeswalker primarily a conjurer, or does he or she prefer to strike thei opponents directly? All planeswalkers will have some ability with each category of magic, but the role is the title that determines the character's strength.)
Personality:

History is something I feel should be revealed through storytelling, so that's how I plan to do it.

Also, I've decided that since the Magic setting is the multiverse, some sci-fi elements would be interesting to integrate. Planeswalkers' spells are accumulated through what they discover discover in their travels, so having a Laser Gun as an Artifact Equipment spell will be acceptable.

Also, for the sake of originality, I will integrate this if it is okay with the majority of players. A new mana color revolving around advanced tech will be added to the Magic world, and it will revolve around summoning advanced technology to aid in your struggles. The mana color will be either silver or steel, and the characteristics of the "creatures" within it will be a high average toughness compared to most creatures of other colors, but a pretty mediocre attack power.

(Typed on mobile, so I apologize for typos)
The way I see it, the sections are based on two things: Time and Ability.

Free consists of two different types of RPs, from what I've seen. The first is the speed posting RP, which we are all familiar with. The other is someone's attempt to put as much information into a single post as they can, often only sizing up to about a paragraph per post. I'm in an RP of the former variety on another site, and it is quite enjoyable when I actually have the time to jump in.

Casual consists of those RPs where people who can write, or have good imaginations, go to RP. It's for those people who don't have all the free time in the world, or those who like a little bit of volume in their posts, or for those (such as myself) who are not writers by nature. I'm much more familiar and comfortable with numbers than words, and that's just who I am.

Advanced has a bunch of people who either have little time, and are unable to frequently post, yet enjoy great volume in their posts. It is also for those who have that knack for writing- for whom creating stories and putting words together to form beautiful stories comes naturally. I wish I had such an ability, and I've always been envious of those who can, but words just don't flow for me like they do for others. That's just the way it is.

The section you tend to be in speaks volumes about you as a person, when you get down to it.

"We're just waiting on ooonnneee contestant before we get started. You lot should head down to the mess hall and grab lunch while we wait." "Awesome!" Ned said, before turning and heading towards the building with the big "MESS HALL" sign above the door. "And I'm going to need you to sit with the people you've been standing with. It'll make it less confusing!" Chris shouted as they all left. Violet said nothing as she calmly made her way over to the building, so slowly and nonchalantly that she probably got there last.
Okay, no more waiting. I'm moving on.
I'll wait at this point until tonight to post, since I'm afraid to leae Ploxedron too far behind, and that Lord Pie hasn't posted in about half a week.
