CW: No... he doesn't have a force field... instead it's... well, you'll see.
Mal didn't even notice the smell, he was so disoriented, but his did notice when Griff landed next to him, his sonar giving him a full picture of the boy holding a bomb right in Mal's face. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me" was all he got out, although he did manage to grab Crescent Moon first, before it went off, launching him back several yards and knocking his hat off.
His concentration completely broken, Malachi was suddenly flooded with vibrations from EVERYTHING. Insects, wind, light, sound, tremors, breathing, everything. If anything moved the slightest within a 2 mile radius, he felt the vibration. And it was PAINFUL. He felt like his head was about to explode from overloading. That was when his anger snapped. Struggling to his feet, he held Crescent Moon out to his left. While the scabbard was completely still, the handle was vibrating horrendously. As the black wrap he used to cover his eyes fell off, one could see that, although they were milky white from the scar that ran across his face (and through his eyes), they were bloodshot and right-royally PISSED OFF. "I never had to use this technique before... congratulations on your death" he said, his whole body twitching weirdly from the still-ongoing surge of vibrations. Placing Crescent Moon behind his back, Mal bent over and clutched the handle, silencing it, but one could still hear the blade itself vibrating even fiercer. "Demon Iai..." he whispered, and in less than the blink of an eye, he had drawn his blade, and made a full swipe across his chest. Crescent was now still, but there was a rumble in the background. "Beat... of the Dragon Wing" he whispered again, as he sheathed Crescent... and the mountains behind Griff were cleaved in half.
"Damn... I missed... Lucky for you... I still can't see..."
CW: Um... I think you just hit rewind on his personality. But about the bubble. Basically with the Vibe-Vibe fruit, one detects every vibration within a 2 mile radius at all times, even while asleep. So Malachi, being blind and reliant on the vibrations for sight (like Toph, from Avatar) has learned how to focus on a general area of 50 feet, and basically only 20 feet in combat, 10 in one-on-one. But it requires a massive amount of concentration. If that's broken, he kinda goes beserk from sensory overload. Luckily it takes a large shock to break it, so it rarely happens. But as it turns out, his greatest power is his greatest weakness. After all, without vibrations, he can't see... at all. That's why he missed. Of course there is still the Swordstorm, but he might be too angry to think about using it. Luckily for Griff, he hasn't learned the Nightmare Swordstorm yet.
