I don't think it's worth it because no other forum is as tight knit as arena.

This is definitely true, but that may very well be because of the fact that Arena has a thread where they can discuss topics with one another. The communication exists - as does the loyalty.

Possibly your greatest idea.

Why, thank you.
There's an idea that I thought of while scrolling through the Arena's commentary in regards to Buddha's suggestions - What if more sections were to include a similar "hangout/chat thread" similar to what Arena has? It's true that OOC/Off-Topic exists and anyone can make a thread chat there, but they're often shut down due to inactivity or become "clique-y". I think it could totally have some merits of uniting parts of the community with similar interests/Roleplaying styles.

@Grimhildr

if there's two things i regret from this site

one of them was meeting you

Is the other one joining this website to begin with?
Where was it, exactly, that I said you didn't (weren't) trying?

My point, and a few of your own examples prove: how much can be done without Mod/Mahz direct involvement.

You didn't directly say it, that's true, but the implication came across as "we aren't trying" and are relying too much on Moderator/Mahz involvement. I sincerely apologize if I read that wrong, but the rest of my post is still valid in the sense that I personally don't think trying doesn't make much of a difference anymore.

I've heard a million times that making a Guild Discord has not done anything as many Roleplays already have their own Discords and it's not "official". I can't mark it "official" and I don't know if the current Moderators can. It's true that the community can achieve quite a lot! At the end of the day, however, we're probably going to need at least a little help from Moderators and Mahz is what I'm trying to say, I suppose.
Think you'd be surprised with just how much can be done without either. But it would take actually trying.

With all do respect Ruby (and you know that I absolutely adore you), I don't think this is very fair to say. Not only am I part of this discussion, but I helped to create it alongside of Buddha and Grimhildr. We are trying and the purpose of making these topics is in an attempt to hear what others have to say, unite the community, and try to help the website that we love. I definitely think that my contributions of creating CynderTynder, Partner Supermatch, and the RPG Discord could be considered as trying, but perhaps it's possibly true that other people don't feel this way. I honestly don't really know anymore and I'm beginning to feel a bit jaded about the Guild.

I love this website and it's my first Roleplaying forum, but I'm beginning to think that I'm only staying out of loyalty for my current Roleplay partner. I want to hear your opinion and I want to hear everyone else's as I already said, all voices are equal. I think that the Guild is stagnating and even if that isn't true, there seems to an insanely hostile/toxic atmosphere across the board.

I want to know a way to fix these matters, but I don't think saying stuff like this is a step in the right direction.
Yeah I was just thinking about tumblr: if you google RPing a lot of tumblr blogs will show up in a mix with the PBP websites. So it could possibly be that people are just moving away from these places to go to other methods of RPing.

Separately from that point above, there are a few things about RPguild that I really really like, which keeps me pretty comfortable here. I'm not sure if this would be the place to put that though

Tumblr is very PC (politically correct) in terms of speech, so I would not recommend it unless you belong to that crowd yourself. If you want to share what you think about the Guild or what it could improve upon, that's an ongoing discussion in this thread.

All civil input is welcomed and appreciated!
Is it also possible that Roleplaying as a pastime is fading somewhat in today's day and age? I don't really know how you'd measure that, but if it was a really popular thing to do several years back, and then a series of unfortunate catastrophes shut down a lot of roleplaying options at once, people just decided to find other things to do with their lives?

Or am I wrong, and the RP crowd has just moved away from RPguild to other places?

There's really no way to be sure, so it's definitely a possibility. I don't see Roleplaying dying as a hobby anytime soon though. Even outside of the main three (four?), people still Roleplay on Twitter, Tumblr, Discord, Facebook, VK, Skype, and various other social media platforms.
Pokemon Mystery Universe and Chatango. Those. . those were dark days.
Really...huh. It always seems like whenever I go on Iwaku their active online count is always lower than RPguild. Unless both sites count guests as part of their total count. I just checked Iwaku a few minutes ago, and it said their active count was 245, except about a third of those were guests. If RPG functions the same way, that's one thing, but otherwise I think it's in the middle of the 3

also i tried to do rpnation for a little bit and was plagued with the same issues mentioned in this thread, including disappearing GMs, but also very pretty threads with no substance to them

RPG does count guests, but it should be noted that people who are marked as "Guests" may actually have their online/offline status hidden (for example, I'm "invisible" so I appear as a "Guest" instead of as a user). I'm not actually sure if Iwaku works in a similar fashion as I was only briefly on there for a few days. As for RPNation, I found it to be bland and got bored on those forums rather quickly, haha.

Somewhat irrelevant, but maybe not: what sites are being compared to rpguild here?

i ask because when i go on iwaku they have less than rpguild usually, and the only other place i know of is rpnation, which has a larger average active population, but also has an irritating method of organizing RPs that kind of hinders cross-genre improvisation which I like a lot

200 might not seem like a lot, but it seems fairly constant between 150-200 people most days

what other sites have a larger population that makes this site seem like it isn't big enough? I know guildfall had the guild take a big hit, and the slow redevelopment of the site is another reason for slow growth

Iwaku has about 300+ users on average from what I've seen. RPNation is definitely the most active of the three, but I'm still not convinced that not everyone on there is a sockpuppet.
