Shrieking in horror, Caroline gave little thought to it and grabbed the hand gun from her jacket pocket and shot at the creature's limbs. To her horror, when she shot at it's arms and legs, they would simply disperse into hundreds of little bugs and fall to the ground, scurrying away. The being itself was made of bugs. Deciding not to waste ammo, Caroline pulled out her blade instead and stabbed the creature until it's entire body had dispersed into bugs that had quickly fled from the scene.
Exhausted, Caroline gave Ben a hand getting up and looked him over making sure he wasn't hurt. "Are you ok? Are you hurt anywhere? What did that thing do to you? Did you see what happened to it?" she blurted out all these questions frantically.
Oooo I like that idea gurren. Like the virus doesn't kill the patients, it turns them into horrible creatures that live for the sole reason to infect others.
Ren giggled at Zmerr's comment about ketchup. She remembered when she had just escaped from the facility and had no money, she would sometimes eat the ketchup from the free packets that the fast food restaraunts offered. But those days were long gone.
Without a second thought, Ren took a bite of the eggs Zmerr had given her and was instantly delighted. She couldn't even remember the last time she had such good food, especially for breakfast. "It's amazing!" she exclaimed, then proceeded to gobble up the rest of the egg, disregarding the fact that she would most likely get a stomach ache afterwords, as she had not eaten this much food in a while.
Caroline hesitantly followed in step behind Ben, keeping the torch held high. She wasn't sure if she should be doing this but it was too late to go back now. She did her best to keep up with his fast pace but eventually found herself growing tired. They were getting nowhere fast and all this running and wheezing for air had her all flustered. "Wait," she gasped for air, bending over slightly. "Do we even know where we're going? How will we even know where she is? This place is huge."
I'm not really digging the Ebola like virus thing :/ if we don't do zombies for pestilence, I definitely like Drakeonis' idea for death having zombies, that would be pretty cool as well. So if we don't do zombies for pestilence, I would like the virus to be something that turns its victims into something totally unrecognizable. For example maybe their skin turns a different color or they have odd growths on their bodies, etc. i also kinda like the idea of the virus being a flesh eating disease that kills the patient slowly. the hospitals are packed full and things like stores and offices are raided for food and supplies. There is no known cure (that doesn't mean the gov doesn't know anything) and its an airborn virus. Restaurants are pretty much done for and finding food that isnt contaminated is a chore. Those who are out and about need to wear masks. That's my idea.
Ren awoke to the smell of breakfast cooking, the pleasant scents flouting through the air. Happily she rose from the bed and followed the scent into a room where she found Zmerr cooking eggs over a fire pit. "That smells great," she said. She hadn't had food in days. The hunger she had felt almost permanent, she barely noticed it anymore.
"Alright that will have to do for now," Bobby sighed, gripping tightly to the cable. "Let's head back. I got a good grip on the cable so make your way back to where I am."
"Its ok," Ren's mood quickly changed and she smiled and playfully toyed with the end of her dress. "So what are we doing today?" she asked, assuming Zmerr would have more work for her to do.
"Alright," Caroline started as she took the rope from Ben. She cut off an appropriate amount then wrapped it around the end of a large and thick stick on the ground near them. Once it was tightly secured, she dunked it in the jug if gasoline, then using her lighter to set the torch ablaze. Feeling a tad proud of herself she presented it to the others. "Let us proceed."
