Joseph Reed - approaching Summer City - 6:40 am

The sun began to peek over the horizon as recently widowed and lonesome Joseph Reed slowly trudged along the dusty roads leading to Summer City, in his weathered truck. He had been traveling for months like this - since he lost his wife and son to the infection, he drove from town to town, in search of whatever he could get his hands on. Safety, survivors, supplies, weapons. But what Joseph mostly yearned for was an explanation. What were these creatures that took his family from him and twisted his life inside out?

While Joseph had little luck in the small farm towns that he would pass through, he was still reluctant to go into the city. If things were bad out in the rural parts of the state, what would the cities be like? Joseph didn't want to find out, although after two months of searching the towns, he had little left to go through and he was growing somewhat desperate. He had a fair amount of food and his weaponry would do him proud for another few weeks, but his water supply was running dangerously low and his truck wouldn't run much longer on the little gas he had left.

And so, timid but strong, Joseph decided now was the time to enter the city. His truck neared the outskirts of the city as he saw the badly weathered sign that read "Welcome to Summer City". He slowed his truck down to a stop at the sign and he could already catch the faint stench of the city. If not the rotting flesh of the undead, then it was the waste and ruin of the city. Joseph knew his truck would only attract undead should he drive it into the city. He would need to do this by foot. He pulled his truck over to a small wooded area and gathered all the supplies he could fit into his large backpack. He was able to fit everything but a half crate of canned goods. He had no idea in what shape he would find his truck when he returned to it - if it were to be broken into and searched, all he would lose is some food. For good measure, he threw his green tarp over the truck before he left. It wasn't as if the tarp would totally camouflage the truck, but it would make it less appealing at best.

And so, with the rising sun and growing nerves, Joseph approached the borders of Summer City by foot.
Go right ahead.
I am also still here. I'd hate to see a good rp go to waste just because it's GM left.
So sorry for not posting, things have gotten quite hectic with me. I will have my first IC up tomorrow.
Fixed the guns. The rifle has no ammo so it's basically useless. I just don't see a rancher leaving without taking his hunting rifle haha. But yeah, at the start of the IC, only the hand gun will have ammo so that's the only gun he'll be able to use for a while.
Alright I can make the godfather for the Rosetti's. I'll have a CS up by tomorrow.
Hmm I think I can take on another character if need be. Is there specific slot you'd like me to fill, Jones?

Character Name: Joseph Reed
Age: 38
Gender: male
Appearance:

Personality: Joseph can be described as a rather reserved and calm man. He is a man of few words and picks his battles. However, as a result of this, he finds that he gets little say in group settings and is ordered around by the other members. He prefers to travel on his own, however he does grow lonesome at times. Before the outbreak, he could be best described as passive aggressive and gentle. Come the outbreak, he was forced to resort to violence which disturbed him greatly. Joseph is a man who is in touch with his thoughts and likes to write them down on paper. Currently, he is scared that he will become a monster with all the killing he is doing. He also scares himself by his increasing aggressiveness. Nonetheless, Joseph is still a gentle giant. Yet he may not remain that way.

Background: Joseph Reed was born to an English professor and a stifled housewife in the city. He had a relatively easy childhood and had a few close friends throughout his years. However, he was constantly living in the shadow of his father. Being the Reed’s only son, Joseph’s father had high and strict expectations of him. Joseph was to go to university right after high school and become a professor just as his father was. This all changed when Joseph was 21, two years into his degree when he met the love of his life. A farm girl named Margaret. She was young, beautiful, and free spirited. Needless to say, Joseph dropped out of school a year later to marry her. They owned a ranch together where Margaret would teach Joseph everything about farming, raising livestock, shooting, and hunting. When Joseph was 25, he and Margaret had a son named Tom. The following 13 years leading up to the outbreak, the Reed’s focussed on being a family and running their ranch.
The virus was delayed in making it’s way to the Reed’s ranch. As they lived out almost in the middle of nowhere in a small rural county, they had heard little of the outbreak. They had no idea it had gotten so out of control or the devastating effects of the virus.
One late afternoon, Joseph and his wife had realized that their son had not yet returned from earlier on that day when he told them he was taking one of the horses for a ride. Margaret insisted that Joseph stay behind while she went to look for him in case Tom came back to the house while she was out. A few hours later, the sky was beginning to darken and now neither Margaret nor Tom had returned to the home. Joseph was beginning to grow anxious and decided to go out and look for them in his truck. He had no avail and returned home hours later. He continued to search the next day. If he did not find them by nightfall, he planned to call the police. In the afternoon, he went to the stable to search by horseback this time. This is when he found his wife and son - but not in the way that he had expected. They frothed at the mouth and staggered about, moaning, appearing to not have any control over their own mind or body. At the sound of Joseph opening the stable door, they attacked him, as well as another undead that was believed to be the one that infected them. How he got into the stable is a mystery. Joseph tried to find some way to subdue them without using his gun but all three were overpowering him and he could tell that they were not of a sound mind. He realized they had the virus he had faintly heard about. He had no choice but to use this gun to lay them to rest. This action still haunts him.
After this altercation, Joseph decided to pack up as many belongings as possible and set out to find help. However, since the virus took so long to reach his ranch, it was quite some time into the out break before he headed out. He started off by vehicle, using his truck. But since the outbreak, gas has become harder and harder to find and the sound of his truck is a magnet to the undead. He is thinking about ditching the truck, seeing as he is nearing his first large city. Since he left his ranch, he has been traveling along the lonely rural roads and passing through farm towns, looking for survivors who are not hostile and grabbing food, supplies, and weapons wherever he can.

Equipment: hunting rifle without ammo, hand gun with ammo, crowbar, journal and pen, truck, wallet, two crates of canned food recently obtained, flask, half carton of cigarettes, lighter, two water jugs, half gallon of gas.

Other Notes: Joseph does smoke, although has slowed down as cigarettes are hard to come by now a days. He is a light drinker. He writes in his journal most nights. He can swim but is not that strong of a swimmer. He does not have any triggers, so to speak, but often sees visions and day dreams of his wife. He is notably strong, as he is a larger build. He has many nature survival skills as well (such as hunting, starting a fire, setting a trap, etc.)
Name: Valentina "Val" Moriarti
Age: 24 (the baby of the family)
Appearance:
Family: Moriarti
Relation: daughter
Role in family: arranges the deals, takes count of inventory, takes care of all the fanatical paper work for the deals
Bio: being the youngest child of the Moriarti family, Valentina has grown up constantly trying to prove herself. As far as her father seemed to be concerned, all of her siblings were better than her at pretty much everything. When they were kids, her siblings always seemed to be better at grades and talents. Then when the children were old enough to enter the family business, they still always seemed to be better than her. That's why she's stuck doing all the paper work while her other siblings get to go out and actually make the deals. Although, she has been trying to catch her father's attention. She constantly strives to do outstanding work so he will give her more responsibilities. She does know most if not all of the family's friends and "contacts" so to speak, as she arranges the deals at her fathers request over the phone. Her father will tell her who they are doing a deal with and what they will be trading. Valentina will then arrange the meeting place and time over the phone.
Personality: Valentina is the kind of woman that has yet to have her moment in the spot light. While she is neither introverted nor outgoing, she just seems to blend into the background of everything. She is acknowledged and respected but not frequently talked about. Many men see her as a sister or a daughter figure - kind of like the girl next store. Yet, she has to admit that she doesn't really like that reputation. Val is almost always polite and bites her tongue unless she is truly agitated. She is mostly calm and collected and will usually try to resolve fights between others. She is heavily influenced by other's attitudes. If someone is being friendly and joking with her, she will react the same way back. If someone is being hostile and serious, she will follow in the same way. While her outside is very normal and some what average, on the inside she wants a bit more. Her wild dream is to be a modern day Bonnie and to find herself a Clyde.
Relationship: Val went on a few dates in high school but never had a steady boyfriend. Once she was old enough to enter the family business, she became so absorbed by it, she had little time or interest for dating. However, she does keep her eye out for potentials when she is out and about.
