Heigo stared up at the ceiling from his bed, head pounding slightly in a familiar and not entirely unwelcome way. He sat up, one hand brushing at his hair as he glanced around his studio apartment, furnished with little more than the necessities.
Heigo spent a few moments waiting for the drumming in his skull to settle down, but it wasn't anything Heigo hadn't grown accustomed and nearly immune to over his years. Nothing a shower in the morning couldn't clear up, and just as good too because he had to be in the office early that day. He wanted to make sure he had his range time in, knowing that most of his time that day was going to be taken up a speech to officially kick off the S-SWAT program.
he paused halfway through brushing his teeth, before shaking his head and resuming.
He still couldn't wrap his head around all of this supernatural stuff. In a funny sort of way, it made him realize that he'd taken everything for granted. Sure, apprehending someone who was on PCP was difficult, but nowadays a perp could be a part-time wizard who could just as easily pull a gun on you as he could melt your eyes with a wave of his fingers.
The times, they were a-changing.
Not too long later, he was at the range, having been fortunate enough to secure an apartment just a mile away from the police station. That day, he was practicing with an M110 SASS with an adjustable sight, trying to get comfortable with the weapon at about the range SWAT snipers usually engaged targets from. He'd already practiced like hell with his other weapons, so he wanted to stay versatile and start practicing with a new weapon.
When the call came to form up, he suited up in his blue combat uniform joined his fellow Alpha Team members to receive Jessica Chang. He had to admit, he was disappointed that none of his friends from his regular SWAT team made the cut for S-SWAT except for him. He noted, however, that one of his fellow officers, Dmitri, was Russian.
He was mostly quiet throughout the whole thing, but when Dmitri asked him a question during Jessica's impromptu phone call, Heigo just shrugged his shoulders.
"Must be important. Maybe a call, even."
When his suspicions proved right, he smirked slightly. Zombies in a warehouse. All that time playing Resident Evil as a kid was going to start paying off.
It came time to lock and load and he was indecisive about many things. Overall, he decided he wanted to take his first loadout, but with a few differences He looked at his own neat section of the armory and decided his custom USAS 12 was definitely coming along. He shouldered the strap of his gun before loading up on magazines, deciding he was going to take 3 magazines of silver slugs and only one of buckshot just in case. He had a feeling a spread of small pellets was going to be less effective as a slug against something so unnaturally durable.
Then, he slipped his USP Tactical into its holster, checking the sight and to see if the flashlight was in working order. he gave himself three magazines for his USP. As a side addition, he replaced one of his flashbangs with another stinger, leaving him with 2 stingers and a flashbang in case the sorceror ever showed their ugly face.
For his armor, he decided to take a suit of Raider. Zombies mostly sensed with their eyes, and he was already good at being quiet in the suit so he was confident it'd serve him well. putting everything back where it was, he turned from his station and started to wrap a small Estonian flag around the area just below his right elbow.
Thundering Cloud stared off into the countryside surrounding Bellbrooke. Whenever she stood upon Bellbrooke's walls, she always remembered her very first day of guard duty, and how she complained about receiving the rookie assignment when she'd returned to the barracks. Three years didn't do much to change her outlook on wall duty, but at least she'd made some friends who she can share small talk with whenever she was lucky enough to share a posting with them.
Today, however, she was by herself, and her eyes wandered up to the clouds for a few moments before her eyes returned to the road leading into town.
Nope, still nothing.
She was about to start heading over to her next observation point when she heard the door guards speaking, and then a third voice. Curiously, she glanced down.
Was that unicorn always there? She wondered if she'd missed him approaching the town or not, but the guy was bright purple. He seemed harmless enough, though, and when the guards signalled for the gate to open, Cloud resumed her patrol on the wall.
Just another visitor from Equestria. Too clean to be anything else, she mused.
Thundering Cloud (Cloud to her friends) stands at 5 feet and eleven inches tall and with a build that looks like it may have been softer once. Nowadays, all the softness has been chiseled away, and while she isn't flat by any means, her build leans more towards boyish. Her skin is a light coffee color, topped with neck-length curly black hair that she usually keeps in a tight bun. Despite her build, her facial features remain soft, and she has expressive green eyes that always seem to be slightly widened.
She has a small scar that runs alongside and above her left eyebrow, as well as a gunshot scar just a few inches above her navel.
◇Personality Elements◇
Loyal to her friends and superiors.
Open-hearted and minded.
Still believes there's good in the world.
Distrustful of those from outside the Equestrian colonies.
Haunted by memories.
Light smoker.
Terrified of centipedes.
Has conflicted feelings about the re-education programs, however she understands it's the only solution so far.
Secretly a bit of a sadist. (There's just something about pulling the trigger and dropping a threat that brings her a measure of peace.)
◇Biography◇
Cloud was born into a military family, to a mother that worked at ONI (US Office of Naval Intelligence) and a father who was stationed in Florida at the time of The Rending. She spent most of her time with her father, living and going to school wherever he was stationed. She had trouble making friends, and as such was mostly withdrawn and more concerned with being independent. By the time she was 13, she could cook and clean for herself, and her father had given her an M1911 handgun for her 14th birthday for her to own when she "got older."
She only knew of her mother because her father had told her. Apparently, she'd chosen a career at ONI over the family life.
Cloud had just turned 13 when the Equestrians made first contact, and her life became a blur at that point. Her father was redeployed every few months as US Command struggled to address the novel issue that foreign entities could now teleport directly into their cities. Unsurprisingly, she found herself fascinated by the Equestrians and their magic.
She was 14 and home alone when the world was plunged into terror. When the screams died down enough outside, she waited for her father. For anyone, really, but nobody came, and after several days of hiding indoors, she was forced to leave the house to survive. She took the gun her dad gave her for her 13th birthday and braved the horrors of the outside world.
Cloud could never have prepared herself for what she'd witness. She kept to herself, spending most of her time hiding and scavenging when it was quiet. She avoided other kids as well, but she couldn't stay hidden forever. a month before she was found by the Equestrians, her little hideaway was discovered by a band of looters. She managed to escape with her life, having to shoot one of the deranged adults to escape. The rest of the group vengefully pursued her for a couple of weeks before giving up the hunt.
When the Equestrian search parties looking for survivors found her, she was in depressing shape. Malnourished, traumatized from months of a living nightmare, and desensitized to the horror.
After reform and re-education, Cloud decided she wanted to help the Equestrians reclaim her world. At least, that's her goal. She managed to get into the Guard and not a single step higher.
Cloud's 21st birthday rolled around and she joined the Guard and started training. Initially, she didn't quite take to fighting head-on with a spear, but in time she got the hang of it and started her service. She quickly found to enjoy the few times she was deployed outside of the settlement, even though she came back with a bullet in her stomach the last time.
Over the years, the memories have started to trickle back in. She remembers "Charlotte" but she doesn't know who's name it is yet. She remembers she had a family, but she cannot recall anything about her mother. She knows, at least, that her father was a soldier. She doesn't remember why a handgun was among her possessions, but she's also inexplicably fond of it. She deals with the memories as they come.
Currently, she has around three years of service in the Guard, and has some experience fighting mutated horrors and bandits, although she's more used to helping keep the peace. Overall, her service record is quite good, although she has made the occasional slip-up in the past.
◇Skills and Talents◇
Thundering Cloud is a soldier above all. She knows how to read a situation and make the right call, and has a solid mind for tactics. She's proficient with the use of the spear and her handgun. She also knows how to survive outside the settlement for extended amounts of time, an instinct retained from before her reformation.
◇Relics, Spells, and Techniques◇
Cloud has her "survivor's endurance." She survived The Rending and the months after by her lonesome, and just when things seemed bleakest and death seemed to call her name, she pulled through and survived. In dire situations, Cloud can keep herself extraordinarily calm or tank through serious injuries (although she has her limits), and if pushed too far she might do something irrational in her desperation.
She also retained small bits of her paranoia from the time of The Rending, and many can attest to how difficult it is to catch her by surprise. She has a knack for noticing things at the last second or catching particularly small sounds.
◇Gear◇
-Guard Armor sized for a human. -Respirator -Worn belly rig (She uses most of the pockets and magazine pouches for random stuff, but she is also currently carrying two magazines for her M1911 -Sturdy spear -A Trusty M1911 Handgun chambered for .45 ACP. -Pack of old cigarettes (currently has four) -Slightly rusty Ka-Bar bayonet (Usable as a backup weapon/utility knife.) -Soldier's rucksack for whenever her duties take her beyond the settlement's boundaries (Bedroll, compass, weapon maintenance kit, journal, water canteen.) -3 pairs of adjustable cuffs. (Usable on humans/ponies) -1 Unicorn horn-dampener (for apprehending those dang unicorns)
Sorry for jumping the gun on you like that. I had these unshakable assumptions that there'd probably be a decent amount of human military stuff left over but I was wrong and it's fixed now hopefully.
Heigo Kass has slender, smooth features that make his eastern european descent obvious. He keeps his chin-length hair either combed or tied back, and has no facial hair or sideburns to speak of, as he keeps himself shaved smooth. He has thin eyebrows that sit atop similarly thin brow, under which his his sharp eyes peer from. His nose has an upwards crook to it in the middle, but the end of his nose is thin. His lips are also thin, and his resting expression is one of quiet neutrality, perhaps even pensiveness at times. He speaks with a moderate Estonian accent, but is in the process of bettering his english.
6'0", 205 Lbs
General Appearance: Has a small Estonian flag that he keeps wrapped around the bottom of his left elbow. He also wears a police badge from the city of Valga around his neck, but he usually keeps it beneath his clothing/armor. Apart from this, however, he adheres to standard uniform procedure to the letter.
Psych Evaluation: Heigo used to be a man of few words, but ever since his career in policing, he's coped with situations that require him to be talkative. Off the field, however, he's just as likely to respond to a question with a few movements of his head than with an actual answer. He doesn't show it, but he harbors a silent hatred of the supernatural, believing that his family in particular has been cursed by the paranormal, a sentiment originally fostered in him by his mother. Heigo is protective of his friends, both on and off the field, and those lucky enough to be seen as "true friends" by Heigo will likely see him stick up for them even if they don't particularly need it.
Heigo thoroughly enjoys his work as a policeman, but ever since he became a SWAT officer, his feelings on his work have dampened slightly. He found more satisfaction bagging criminals on the street than kicking in doors and dropping bodies.
Despite his outwardly quiet appearance, Heigo likes to do loud things. He enjoys going to nightclubs, bars, and anywhere else where the music is loud and the drinks are strong. His favorite weekend activity is hosting guests at his place and throwing get-togethers of his own. He also spends a lot of time on the shooting range whenever he's at headquarters, so anybody looking for him can probably find him there when he's not diligently filling out reports or eating some homemade lunch.
History: Heigo was not originally a resident of the United States. He was born in Valga, a small city in the baltic state of Estonia. Heigo was raised by his single mother, who never remarried after Heigo's father disappeared when Heigo was seven. His mother recalls him fondly, however, and whenever Heigo would ask his mother where his father went, she'd always say that he was "taken," because she believed the man loved his wife and son too much to just leave them. His mother was also deeply superstitious, and often blamed the dissappearance of Heigo's father on the supernatural.
The loss of his father struck Heigo deeply, and it sparked within him a desire to prevent the same thing from happening to others. When he was 19, he decided to join the Valga city police force after doing some special programs in high school. He was twenty-one and a few months away from joining when his mother disappeared as well. At first, it redouble Heigo's efforts to rejoin the police, and he went along with several search parties while he was still in the academy. When the months dragged on, Heigo had started to lose hope, as there was simply no trace of her. By this point graduated from the academy, but had delayed his induction so he could dedicate more time searching for his mother, taking a part-time job in the meantime.
Six more months went by, and nothing had come up. The police department wanted to close the case, as they could no longer dedicate the manpower. Heartbroken and in despair, Heigo decided he would leave. He still wanted to be a police officer, but could no longer stand the heartache of being in Valga.
So, he took a plane to New Hampshire after saving up enough money to get an apartment in one of the better parts of town. His decision to come to America was influenced by one of his friends, who'd seen too many imported action movies and said being a cop in America would be the best. He was twenty-two when he arrived, and he went to the police department to seek employment. Fortunately, he'd studied up on his English before he left, and after a favorable interview with the recruiter, he was also fortunate enough to get his credentials from Estonia verified. He became a beat cop and thrived in the position. He was commended for his athleticism, ability to subdue suspects, and for the occasional bit of heroism, mostly in his tendency to protect others over apprehending suspects. In his spare time, he slowly attended classes on the Russian fighting style known as Sambo.
As he got better, he was recommended for the SWAT team when he was 28. He's been on the SWAT force for little more than a year, but he's a promising rookie.
Maybe that's why the assigned him to S-SWAT when the team was being formed.

Just following up on Sel, but SPAS weapons are barely allowed in the US. If this was an Italian S-SWAT group, then maybe, but I'd recommend going with another shotgun. *Cough*.
Thanks for the reccomendation I knew that was such a gun made by Americans but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it actually was :P
