Cute kid! As for the age, I don't plan to make you guys stew in the academy forever, it'll be really more of an introduction or tutorial more than anything. Things will start to get serious once they graduate.
I would first like to say that this will be a long term project, with each posts requiring at least two full paragraphs and each character to have at least a decent growth over time. While this will be heavily borrowed from Kishimoto-sensei's famous manga, the world depicted will be darker, and their learning curve harsher due to the lack of instant power-ups found in the vast majority of shounen manga.
That said, with cleverness and luck, it will be very possible to make a legend for your character if they, and you, manage to stick around long enough! I will outline the basic mechanics and setting below, the latter prompt to change once we progress with the various plots that both you and I will have a hand in introducing as well as shaping.
Each of you will start with a sole character, a eight years old child freshly enrolled into their hidden village's Ninja Academy. You character may be from either of the five main village, on the condition that two other players accept to make their own character your classmates. Your home village will become something as close as a safe haven as you can find in a world ruled by trained assassins constantly warring in varying levels of subtlety against one another, and so your character's Academy days will mostly be one of familiarization and training.
Various actions will gain your character experience divided in points for easier management, those points later used to better any and all of their existing skills, or, once certain prerequisites are met, learning new ones. Please be patient, and should you feel adventurous, be prepared for risks equal to any expected gain!
The center of the plot will be each of your characters, the focus as evenly distributed among you as possible while I urge thing along with random or not-so-random events, more or less recurrent NPCs and outline the result of each risky action. You will make the call in each decision your character make, and I will be here to either help or hinder them on their path to knowledge and power.
Welcome, all of you lovely people, to my first search in the Guild.I hope you will find something worth your time in this little thread of mine and ask only for you to be a gracious guest for the duration of our partnership, as lengthy or as brief as it may be. Now, let's get over a few quick but necessary steps before getting into the meat of the matter, shall we?
Let me quickly introduce myself; I am Damsel Taurus, or Dame for short, and though I am female of birth and life I do not let my gender, race, sexuality, nationality or personal beliefs hinder in any way my choices of plots, writing partners or characters in any way. In that same vein, I am open to a vast majority of genres and always try to at least hear out any ideas offered to me, no matter how dull or cliche they may or may not seem at first glance. I was born in a French speaking area, and as such, despite having written English for most of my life, my spelling and grammar may sometime be off, and for that I can only offer my deepest apologies. Finally, having roleplayed for about a decade on and off, I feel confident to say that I can at least throw a fair bit of well written paragraphs your way should the plot or my muse allow it.
What I seek above all is someone to share the joy of creating a good story while we put as much time and effort as the other into the project we chose to take on. I want you to be as much of a friend as anyone can reasonably be while not involved in anything more personal than brainstorming and interest sharing as, while I do not intend to be cold or callous in any way, I do not desire to speak of my life outside this community, that it may be my identity, past or potentially too strong beliefs. We are here to have fun, after all, and the trouble of life may as well be left at the door.
That said, I am mostly interested in original plots, though if you can point me to sufficient information such as documents, web-comic sites or let's play videos related to the fandom you want to try with me, I may be swayed, though no promise are made. Finally, I expect a certain level of care and time to be spent on each post, and an unpolished performance or ill thought of series of events may lead me to cut our partnership short. While I say that I do not in any way expect perfection but merely a show of involvement and care for our roleplay. Typos happens to everyone, as do strange grammar bouts, the trick is to try to keep them to a minimum through double-checking and word processing once our respective muses are sufficiently appeased.
First of all, I want us to go in the third person, past tense format. I'm sorry if that's not your cup of tea, but I just can't get into anything else. Do also know that the ideas below are merely what passed through my head at this very moment, and as pointed previously I am always willing to hear you out should you have an idea you would rather use instead of mines.
All ideas may be with or without romance, and will be free to change and tweak unless some elements are otherwise clearly stated to be set in stone by my own decree. All main characters should be over eighteen years of age, and any want of changing an idea into a mature one should be taken to me by PM instead of out here where everyone could see them.
I am most experienced in making male characters, but am happy to make any and all genders or sexuality.
MxM, MxF, FxF or any other combination is fine, that the relationships may be platonic or romantic in nature.
Any race, religion or nationality is fine... I hope you get the point by now, as long as it's legal I'm okay with it.
...Unless it involve animals or mainly animal-like characters, as it is one of the few things that make me uncomfortable, apologies to any fans of that stuff out there, it's just not my cup of tea.
GENRES I AM PARTICULARLY CRAVING Science-Fiction (Cyber-Punk, Post-Apocalyptic and Alternate History among my favorites) I would be down for some really gritty Dark Fantasy, as well! I am always up for any type of Historical roleplay, given I can find enough information to give even an ounce of realism to our plot.
BITS AND BOBS OF PLOTS
Out There: [CHARACTER A] has lived their whole life in a secluded area, being indoctrinated by their elder in order to mold them to be a tool for their own selfish designs. When [CHARACTER A] was deemed ready, they were send outside for the first time for a very specific purpose, their masters secure in their belief that their life-long brain-washing would hold on for as long as they had use for [CHARACTER A]. Little did they remember that no plan survive contact, and that the world was far too vast to not hold at least one or two threats to their plan... and to their hold on their disciple... (The main idea is that one of us will make a very sheltered character with the other help, and that the other will make up the Temptation and/or Threat in the form of another character. This plot would require quite a bit of world building.)
Wishful Thinking: Forget the soft, light and fluffy Disney version of the Genie of the Lamp, this world is dark and treacherous, and we will borrow vaguely from the Arabian Nights tales to make our own dark adventure in the harsh deserts of the ancient world... or in the far future, if we go the Post-Apocalyptic or even distant planet route. (Also need world building, though more in form of lore and customs as we go along than anything too extensive.)
Poisoned Tea: I would be very interested in trying a serious, dark and borderline (or not so borderline if the fancy strike you) horrific take on the traditional boarding school setting, with students being in a men or women only institution for higher learning. Characters would range from eighteen years olds to twenty five for the students and up to, say, fifty five for the teachers. I would expect us to take charge of quite a few characters for this, with plenty of backstabbing and intrigue urging the plot onward, as character-driven as it will be.
...and that's it for now! I will update this thread as new ideas come and go, and would as you to not merely post here to say 'PM me', for I will take this as a lack of true interest. PM me yourself instead, or post here to ask questions or suggestions.
I'm Damsel Taurus, or Dame for short, and am interested in diving back into the play-by-post roleplaying scene. I learned English over a decade and a half ago and have played around with my first roleplay plot a bit less than a decade to this day. I like quite a bit of genres, as well as engaged and intricate plots. I like posts to be as detailed yet full of hooks and plot and character development as possible and I also prefer my games to be made by either a small group of people that are on the same page or as a more involved two-(wo)man team.
I think that's it as far as introductions go and I hope we all get along well enough! See ya!
