I like that plot idea. Who really cares if it's original as long as it's interesting to others? Innovation doesn't exactly mean that it's good.
Well, that is Max in a nutshell, although I wouldn't say he was exactly ignorant about the industry part. He's already made the mistake of letting people know he made a mistake.
