In some ways, the guildfall was a blessing. It makes it harder for my original 2009 RPing to be found...

I've finally returned to the Guild. Many months of much RPing ahead.

A thousand things to be done; plenty motivation.

Been here on the guild since April '08, seen a lot of change but still love it. I've been on and off, I've GM'd fantastic projects and train-wrecks, it all comes with the territory. I once tried to make a YouTube ad for the guild because I'm slightly insane. In a weird place with the Guild right now, seems like so many names I knew are gone, but more than happy and ready to meet new people. Been writing casually for over a decade, a lot of that practice has been here. I have some small short sci-fi stories printed in anthologies but those are so heavily edited they don't even feel like mine any more.

When not on the Guild I'm most likely working, playing FFXIV or the Souls series or (insert recent must play video game).
Anyone with a passing interest in sci fi needs to read Saga by Brian K Vaughan.

I'm not asking for the entire plot, I'm just asking for a little detail, of which you gave none.

Probably because I don't understand what you're asking.

Uhm... and what is it like there? What do we do? What are the people like? How long would we stay there? Etc.

It;s like a training academy for any pro sport, it's brutally competitive. There'd be actual duelling and theory classes involved. The idea would be to start the RP there and see where it progresses to.
I'm not giving the entire plot away from the off, no GM worth their salt does so.

Like, you provided a good enough back story, but its a bit sparse on what we'd be doing exactly. You mentioned earning a place in the training academy of one of the top Pro Circuit teams... I was wondering what this consisted of exactly.

The idea was you/we were in the training academy already, or just got there.

It will consist of playing children's card games for the fate of planet. Possibly on motorcycles. No, wait, it isn't those things at all. :D
Yes the actual thing is being hosted on the Advanced forum, but that's more for my own standards. I know there are plenty players in casual who RP to an advanced level but don't do it in the advanced section. What more fun of a way to make the move than everyone's favourite card game!

The Roleplay

Okie dokey. For me, I was just wondering what the Training Academy was about.

That's just the plot idea I've ran with. Playing as new trainees.
Or did you get that and just want more information?

EDIT:

Going to keep adding info to this post for now.

Lemme know when this post is finished. :)

A lot of the info is there. I'll put up a CS template, and some details on the team once interest picks up :)

Kept it short and sweet for now, although it'll probably end up being a huge post :P
Got an actual idea up!

HERE!

Basic Outline:
-I’m putting this in the Advanced Section for a reason, I intend on running it with pretty high standards.

-The duels themselves, when they come about, will be done either using Dueling Network or DevPro, depending on what the majority opts for.

-I’ll be proposing TCG rules for the most part, but some OCG cards and other illegal or banned cards will be used as plot devices.

-I’m going to be upfront about this, this isn’t a YGO competition, it is a Roleplay which using the card game as a combat system and a plot device.

-It is neither based in real life nor in any of the anime universes. If your character is German, for example, please don’t provide an anime picture as their appearance. Information on the setting follows.

-Currently looking to see who is interested. I can provide a lot more information at request but I'm going to wait until interest is actually garnered.

Plot Outline

The year is 2079. Technology has advanced significantly over the past six decades. Massive super city landscapes have grown across the face of the planet. Much of the remained has been repurposed as farmland or else left in ruins from the rapid expansion. The planet has reached an environmental balance for the first time in centuries, albeit a very unsteady one. War has subsided for the most part, although many minor resource conflicts still persist in poorer parts of the world.

The increase in computational power, and advances in quantum processing, mean that video games have evolved beyond mere visual interactive experiences. Now entirely real virtual realities exist, and people often work just to pay their way in these digital landscapes.

Alongside this increase in computation prowess rose a new technology; holographic projection. Although first mainly used for military and general entertainment purposes, it has since spread to use in TCG’s causing them to explode in popularity like never before. The most popular of these is a Japanese made TCG called Yu-Gi-Oh!.

In this game, two duellist duke it out using a variety of monsters, spells and traps until one comes out on top. The inclusion of holographs has made the game a massively endearing visual spectacle and elevated it to the status of eSport extraordinaire. Regional Championships often attract crowds of ten’s of thousands, with National Finals being the largest sporting events of the calendar. World Championships are now held once every five years, with only a single duellist from each nation allowed entry; often the one who performed best in the previous four years of Regional and National Championships.

Many duellists play with professional teams that receive a multitude of sponsorships and endorsements, often earning six figure salaries. The sport has spread all across the world; children dream of meeting and beating their heroes. Middle-aged office drones wished they’d tried their hand at the Pro Circuit and card packs sell like wildfire.

This is where you come in. You are a young adult who has grown up playing the game. You have demonstrated quite the skill when it comes to strategy and timing, and thus have earned a place in the training academy of one of the top Pro Circuit teams; for now. You won’t last long unless you can prove yourself to be up to the challenge.

What kind of raids? Humanoid races of bandits, or something more feral? And my characters are up for collabing in the tavern, though I don't really have any ideas for a collab.

The raids from the black mountain.
It's probably the easiest to sign up to too, although personally I like Devpro.
