Timeskip, have an earnest talk about direction, otherwise something to introduce a change has worked well for me in the past. The fact you two agreed on a break to think leads me to believe there's a good shot that this would work. If the moment isn't panning out, find one that will.

At one point I went off on a 14, 16 roleplay at a time window, now I wonder what the hell I was doing and go 'naaw', and don't have time for that.
If anything I'm thinking about projects. Maybe GMing a thing or two I haven't seen in a while or just experiments. But that's down the road.
