Current When you see a sock on the doorknob, the only civilized way to react is to kick the door down, declaring loudly that," Player Three has entered the game!"

That's actually not a bad idea.
No offense taken :)

To be honest, I don't like the concept of character sheets. You are asking to take what is hopefully a unique character and make him jump through the same hoops of definition as everyone else. If you look at them closely, a great deal of regular old folk aren't in fact the magical snowflakes of uniqueness that they hope to be but are very similar in many characteristics. In this way, by defining a bunch of characters by the same old questions, yeah, the a lot of the characters are gonna seem like cliches and unoriginal. There's a reason why there are cliches, after all.

To answer your question, what makes Kylar original is that I'm going to playing him. As an extension of myself, I'm gonna be taking all of these things that the sheet has forced to be a selection of cliches and 'we've seen it all before's and make Kylar into something original.

So, thanks for giving me and Kylar the benefit of the doubt, as judging a character by the first draft of his character sheet is the RP version of judging a book by its cover.
Name:
Kylar Marcus
Species:
Human
Age:
28
Gender:
Male
Faction:
Jedi Order
Rank:
Jedi Knight
Captive?
No

Appearance:

As a youth, Kylar was slim and smaller than most other younglings his age. However, as he hit his teen years, a growth spurt left him at a solid six feet, three inches in height. Powerfully built as well, to the point where his master thought that it would be a good idea to alter his form of choice from Form III (Soresu) to Form V (Shien/Djem So). Kylar adapted well to the change, although he retains many of the teachings of Soresu in his style.

Dark brown hair, inquisitive eyes of the same color and a scrunched up face that makes him seem like he is constantly deep in thought, he had never been the most approachable of sorts. His dress code is strictly utilitarian, guiding himself with the dark browns and blacks that his master got him used to. Battle armor is a recent and rather permanent addition to his wardrobe, ever since he joined in the conflict against the Sith.

His skin is tanned, ruddy and pockmarked with scars from blaster and lightsaber. One in particular stands out, an ugly red thing over his left shoulder and spreading onto his back, courtesy of the first Sith Acolyte that he encountered. A few hours in a bacta tank would have healed te wound quicker, ridding him of the scar, but he opted to keep it as a reminder of the mistake that led to wound. Despite this, he usually keeps it and his other mementos of battle under wraps.

He wields a single lightsaber with a blue crystal, altered to make the blade three inches longer than the normal saber.

Flaws:

Not overly popular among the other Jedi, with his penchant for bending the rules and skirting along the borders of what would normally be permitted by the Masters. Coupled with a lack of empathy and sensitivity to the 'living force', the Council has decided to avoid giving him the responsibility to train a Padawan until further notice. It is a choice that Kylar does not mind in the least.

He feels that the council and most of the other Jedi are too set in their ways and traditions. To beat the Sith, to his understanding, they needed to heed the calls of the times and adapt. Once again, not too popular with the other Masters, especially as he is rather vocal with his sentiments. Something of a loudmouth and a gossip. His eagerness to confront the Sith in battle has been looked on with some concern.

His skill with mechanics has made him rather arrogant in the field, and he tends to be rather snide and sarcastic should anyone question his work.

Despite his friction with the council and the other masters, Kylar possesses skills that are vital in the field of battle and thus he is allowed to work on the front lines with only topical supervision, the Jedi Master that is his superior sending reports on his actions to the Council. Over all his time in the field, he has never done anything that would cause him to be recalled, although he has skirted the line several times.

Skills:

He has mastered the variants of Form V, Shien and Djem So. He has a slight preference for the latter, as the it plays well to his physical strength and natural aggressiveness. However, his skill with Shien has benefited from his previous training in Form III. Overall, his style is more defensive than would be expected of a Form V master, but no less dangerous. He is fully ambidextrous, and while his master felt that he would fight better wielding two blades instead of one, he preferred the surprise factor of being able to shift hands during combat, and even reversing his grip into a back-hand mid-duel.

His skill with all things mechanical, be it droids, computers and communications has made him invaluable to the war effort, be it tracking down enemies, decrypting their signal bursts, masking their own transmissions or keeping the Republic's machinery working smoothly while wreaking havoc with the enemy's. He is also a talented pilot, even though he is not overly comfortable in the cramped space of a cockpit.

He has some talent when it comes to tactics, although his creativity is limited to ground engagements, and has been frequently told that he has no head for leading space battles, and thus is usually limited to defensive roles when in space, or attacking or corralling lightly armored ships and transports.

Force capabilities:

Beyond the basics, he has shown a gift for Mechu-deru, and while this has caused some friction over this being a primarily Sith power, the masters have decided to turn a blind eye in light of his talents being very useful, despite their origins. Force Stealth is also something of a favorite of his.

His problems with empathy and the 'living force' make him struggle with even the most basic of healing abilities, and even animal friendship. However, his self-control makes him a natural for skills such as Breath Control, Hibernation trance, Tapas and Crucitorn. Droid Disable is one of his favorite tricks. He has shown interest for Force Deflection and Tutaminis, but he has had neither the opportunity nor confidence to attempt anything of the sort outside of a controlled environment.

His signature move in a duel is to augment a Falling Avanlanche, a traditional Djem So attack, with a concussive force blast meant to stun or incapacitate an opponent, even if they do block his lightsaber. It has won him more than one duel in the past.

Biography:

Kylar remembers nothing from his life before the Order, having been all but raised on in the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine. All he knows is that he was born on that very planet, and that his parents had been farmers on the other side of it. He was around twelve when he recieved word that his parents had been killed in a confrontation with a group of smugglers. He was allowed to attend their funeral with his then Master, Joosor'Alai, a Twi'lek with dark purple skin from Ryloth. A master of Form III, he was responsible for the boy's roots in the form. When Kylar's physique called for a more aggressive style of combat, he relied on the help of two other masters to help train the boy.

Alai was an active master. After spending a year or so with Kylar on Dantooine, he took Kylar away from the Enclave to Coruscant. It was an impressive sight for the thirteen-year-old Padawan. The city itself was more impressive, and one of the Alai's friends/informants in the ecumenopolis was responsible for fanning the spark of the boy's interest in mechanics and droids into a full on flame. From that point on, Kylar spent much of his time while on Coruscant with the man.

The war started shortly before Kylar was deemed ready for the trials, and he followed his Master into various conflicts in the war. He encountered his first Sith Acolyte while on a mission separate from Alai. He fought a very defensive duel, and hee finished the duel by using his augmented Falling Avalanche for the first time. The Zabrak female was able to stop his lightsaber, but did not see the concussive blow as she tried a riposte. The result splintered her spine and killed her instantly. However, he riposte went unnoticed by him and nearly severed his left arm at the shoulder. He was left with an ugly wound instead. He took her saberstaff and presented it to his master when the two were reunited. He underwent the trials soon after.

After the Trails, he was given his knighthood and sent to various points in the galaxy. He was on Ryloth, commanding a small armored division there when word came of the attack on Coruscant. Unable to do anything about it, Kylar pushed what worries and questions that he had about the event aside as best he could until word came, calling him to help in the rescue of a group of Jedi that had gone missing in the attack.

Personality and/or Motivation:

Distant, but not cold, Kylar is a difficult person to place at the best of times. He seems to be constantly focused on nothing in particular, with his brow in a near permanent furrow. He is quiet, rather shy when dealing with strangers and even other Jedi. He does speak up for himself in terms that he is knowledgeable, or thinks that he is knowledgeable, known and rather infamous for speaking his mind and running his mouth no matter the time or who might be listening.

He is a rather aggressive person, questioning and inquisitive, no matter the subject, so long as it has his interest. As of now, his curiosity is peaked as to just how the Sith managed to circumvent Coruscant's defenses so easily.

He is capable of extreme self-control when called for it. Focused and determined, and despite everything and the thoughts of the masters on the matter, he is wholly dedicated to the Jedi Order and way. The other Jedi are his family and their capture drives him. That and his curiosity.

Player’s long term goals:

Determining how the Sith got past Coruscant's blockade, and maybe proving Kylar worthy of training a Padawan.

Relations:

WIP

Final Point - Secrets:

When his master refused to take the lightsaber of the Sith that Kylar had killed, he kept it for himself, and he has collected the lightsabers of every Sith that he has killed since. He doesn't feel that the captured weapons are trophies, but more as a representation of a skilled force user, no matter how twisted. He feels that he brings some light to his killed enemies by keeping their memories alive. This thought hit him in full force whne he realized that the Acolyte that he had killed was no older than he was.

*scowls* I had most of the bio finished, just finishing some research for the bio and then BSOD and I lost most of it.

Anyways, sheet should be delayed, but I think I can still have it finished by today.
Yep. Broke his back, still working on making him watch his city die by ways of a unnecessarily complex plot that takes a larger amount of time than it should.
*peeks in* Hallo folks. I was speaking with Ellri about joining the group last night, and I'm working on a sheet as I type. Thought I would drop in here to see how everyone is doing.

Anyways, the name's Bane.
Sounds rather spectacular. It's been way too long since I've done any board gaming, and here you've got me all nostalgic.
Is it a DnD-based board game, or does it have its own system?
It looks epic!
