My alternate account. I.E. I am ZAVAZggg and ZAVAZggg is me. Not to sock-puppet or some shit, just so I can actually have interaction between two characters in a way that fits Myriad Reality's posting style.

*Targets the eye that emitted the beam with my right hand*

*One of the Beholder's eye-stalks swivels to glare in your general direction, a beam of pure necrotic energy surging from it in mere seconds*
Oh and here's the rays

&{template:default} {{name=**Beholder**: *Eye Rays*}} {{Desc.=The beholder shoots three of the following magical eye rays at random (reroll duplicates), choosing one to three targets it can see within 120 ft. of it:

1. Charm Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a *********DC 16 Wisdom saving throw********* or be charmed by the beholder for 1 hour, or until the beholder harms the creature.

2. Paralyzing Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a ******DC 16 Constitution saving throw****** or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

3. Fear Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a *********DC 16 Wisdom saving throw********* or be frightened for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

4. Slowing Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a ************DC 16 Dexterity saving throw************. On a failed save, the target’s speed is halved for 1 minute. In addition, the creature can’t take reactions, and it can take either an action or a bonus action on its turn, not both. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

5. Enervation Ray. The targeted creature must make a ******DC 16 Constitution saving throw******, taking [[8d8]] necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

6. Telekinetic Ray. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a ***DC 16 Strength saving throw*** or the beholder moves it up to 30 ft. in any direction. It is restrained by the ray’s telekinetic grip until the start of the beholder’s next turn or until the beholder is incapacitated.

If the target is an object weighing 300 pounds or less that isn’t being worn or carried, it is moved up to 30 ft. in any direction. The beholder can also exert fine control on objects with this ray, such as manipulating a simple tool or opening a door or a container.

7. Sleep Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a *********DC 16 Wisdom saving throw********* or fall asleep and remain unconscious for 1 minute. The target awakens if it takes damage or another creature takes an action to wake it. This ray has no effect on constructs and undead.

8. Petrification Ray. The targeted creature must make a ************DC 16 Dexterity saving throw************. On a failed save, the creature begins to turn to stone and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. On a failure, the creature is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.

9. Disintegration Ray. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a ************DC 16 Dexterity saving throw************ or take [[10d8]] force damage. If this damage reduces the creature to 0 hit points, its body becomes a pile of fine gray dust.

If the target is a Large or smaller nonmagical object or creation of magical force, it is disintegrated without a saving throw. If the target is a Huge or larger object or creation of magical force, this ray disintegrates a 10-foot cube of it.

10. Death Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a ************DC 16 Dexterity saving throw************ or take [[10d10]] necrotic damage. The target dies if the ray reduces it to 0 hit points.}}

Keep in mind that ONE ROLL is the difference between losing a character to one of these attacks or not.

This is exactly why I carry a one-sided die with nothing but the number 20 on it.

Smart. But this is why I carry a die with 20's on all sides.

Target attack to expire shortly. Suggestion: Prepare rapid-casted magical counterattack.

Of what kind exactly?!

*Ducks under yet another beam, one of a more greenish hue, which seemingly evaporates any stone it touches*
@Caldizar

Yeah, that’s fine. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the two don’t really use magic items either.

It's also a good thing I didn't define them according to this page, cause uh...

Ten eye-rays, each of which can kill or disable a character who fails a saving throw.

Target appears to be using an innate skill. Continuing scan.
*Searches for any weaknesses that might be leveraged to disrupt or cancel the ability*

*You do not find anything to cancel the ability, other than destroying the creature's central eye to prevent another attack of the same kind, although you do find that the anti-magic field will dissipate in the next five seconds or so*
And yes I defined it a little more loosely as to what magic it canceled exactly, though I figure a Beholder would actually temporarily cancel all magical effects with that cone save item enchantments, otherwise it'd not be very useful. So far as freeform goes anyway, not D&D mechanic wise.

Access to spellcasting cannot be immediately restored. Estimating time required to disable the enemy ability.
*Continues to analyze the structure and source of the attack*

*The structure is one of anti-magic as far as you can tell. Simply a force that cancels out magical effects. The source is, seemingly, the Beholder itself. Almost as though it is a natural ability or trait rather than an external force it has learned to harness*

For info on how long it lasts, but we can say it lasts a little longer for dramatic effect if we want.
<Snipped quote by Caldizar>

*Picks up a stone and lobs it at one of the creature's eyes at unnaturally high speeds*

*The creature is not fast enough to dodge, and finds itself being struck in eye from which the fiery beam emanates as a result. It's initial vector of attack cut off, I pick a stone from off the floor and throw it myself, embedding it in the flesh near the creature's central eye*

It's not a terrible wound, but it is an annoyance!

*Roaring, partly in pain and partly in frustration, the creature lets loose a beam of frost from one of the stalks jutting forth from the left side of its unnaturally bulbous body. Letting out yet another scream, it sweeps the room*
