"No total can shock me, you should see the rent I pay for my studio apartment."

The young woman muttered, going to the register. Even though she was prepared to pay whatever the total came out to, Ele still looked at the numbers, then at the woman,

"Are you sure you rang up everything? Orange juice, hot chocolate, and a muffin?"

The older woman smirked at Tyler, giving him a knowing look and she nodded,

"Yes, that's everything. $5.00 please!"

She said pleasantly and Ele swiped her card, dumbstruck,

"Okay, you got me. I feel like I'm walking in a constant state of shock around here. Maybe this head wound is worse than the doctor thought?"
"I am a very picky coffee snob, so beware for the critique of your life."

Ele warned, teasing in her voice as she nodded and stepped up to the counter. She ordered her juice and turned to Tyler, her wallet already in her hand,

"Your turn. I'm paying this time, no complaining."
Ele closed her mouth with an audible click, thinking about that for a moment. Why was she concerned about coffee right now? She wanted orange juice,

"I guess I was just so shocked at the lack of the nectar of the gods that it left me in shock!"

Ele quipped back, opening her door and stepping out of the van. It was much easier for her to get in and out of the minivan than it was for her to scale the truck up and down.

"But yes, I still want juice. Hi my name is Ele Davis, and I am addicted to orange juice."
"But... but..."

Ele was at a loss for words. She was a Starbucks expert, going for her signature venti double shot, vanilla chai latte with no foam. Straight coffee seemed like a foreign being, some weird outsider concept that only the most uneducated coffee drinkers would choose. With the world of amazing flavored lattes, cappuccinos, and macchiatos why would anyone drink JUST coffee?

Looking at Tyler is dismay, Ele couldn't form a real sentence, only stuttering in horror.
"Wait, then why do they call it Expresso?"

Eke asked, mildly horrified. She basically ran on caffeinated drinks, so if she was, unable to get a decent latte in town she would have some choice, not very Christian approved, words to say.
Ele tried to hide her smile, but failed miserably. Looking out the window and pretending to ignore Tyler's question, Ele said,

"I plead the fifth."

In truth, Ele had never gone to a mom and pop coffee shop. There were a few hipster places, organic shops, artisan... And of course Starbucks, but that was it.
"Both!"

Ele said, bouncing in her seat a little. It had been quite a long time since they had eaten and Ele's stomach was growling again.

"Somewhere with orange juice, please!"
Ele decided to do that while she waited, going to the minivan and climbing into the front seat. When Tyler came back she raised an eye brow at his choice of attire,

"It's below freezing out here! Why on this good green earth are you wearing shorts?!"

She gaped, astonished. Ele herself was bundled up in a knit long sleeve, fleece lined leggings, snow boots, a pull over sweater, and a water-proof jacket with a scarf and gloves as well. To see Tyler in just a shirt and shorts made Ele shiver.
At Tyler's suggestion, Ele bit her lip, suddenly feeling hesitant. It was one thing to accept a ride from him to where she needed to go, but he was asking her to go into an enclosed space where exits could be locked. At least outside Ele could still run if Tyler actually turned out to be a weirdo.

"Is that appropriate?"

She asked, trying not to be rude. Clasping her hands in front of her, Ele shook her head,

"I know you're a good guy, and you've been so helpful and kind, but I'll stay out here for now."
Ele smiled and nodded,

"Well don't forget, I'll be joining you at work for at least the next two weeks, so you never know what could happen!"

She laughed, then gestured to Tyler,

"So you just have to pick up the voucher then we're off again?"
