Do we really have to choose the masks our parents gave us? I don't think so, which is why I choose my own.

Long ago there rested such a grand race, a race spanning innumerable stars, a race so advanced that they were Gods to any younger races who encountered them. However within such time of span small to the Universe they disappeared, thought to be gone forever. Only old ruins of their once great civilization remain, such as the FTL Gates, vast super-structures capable of transporting whole fleets across the galaxy at speeds thought impossible to reach with FTL travel. As the younger races ascend to space and begin exploring the gates of the Precursors were used to expand out and explore the galaxy due to the limits of FTL. The only questions is why the Precursors disappeared, as What Remains of their once vast civilization is explored for answers.

What Remains is a advanced freeform Sci-Fantasy NRP, leaving a lot of what happens in pre-IC history up to the player, with few limits so long as thing stay reasonable. Notice the fantasy part, whether it being purely magic it or combining it with that soft buttery Sci-Fi tech, magic is a completely acceptable method of explaining anything in this RP. With that said, do not go overboard.

Why do you not like them?

If it's balancing, they're going to be balanced, trust me on this.

Organic space elevators can be destroyed with missiles from a fighter craft, the molding can be fried with napalm and anything mental subversion related only works under long term exposure. Of which is reversible. They're not even that tactically intelligent since they don't even think they are ever at war anyways. And terraforming speaks for itself, it's a slow process and i'm pretty sure every other faction has it too in some shape or form.

What are the rules on magic anyways?

Because I dislike factions that exist only for the purpose of consumption and expansion. Unless I authorize one as a Big Bad to be used a story point, then I disallow them.

Magic has the sames rules as technology, be reasonable and do not go to OP.
A smiling flower? I have met worse.
Wow this blew up rather quickly.

<Snipped quote by Alfhedil>

Being able to mold impossible life forms and terraform worlds into places for massive mind totem things that go into space (like giant, organic space elevators I suppose).

They also may cause perversions of the mind to those that observe certain specimens of Anvyat.

They aren't all consuming beings, they just don't really seem to notice when their actions are killing millions of people.

I can already tell you this is a no-go

Kind of reminds me of Mass Effect, what with the Precursor Gates and all. I get that it takes while for FTL to get you across the galaxy, but what about the surrounding area? Are we just stuck using the gates or what?

It looks interesting but I'm not really a wordy kind of writer. Honestly not sure if I could play a game that requires a short story for every post.

To address your first problem, the answer is yes. Their will be hub systems that by standard FTL will be easy to reach in a few days.

As for your second one, I feel that at least in terms of Advanced Quality > Quantity. So long as the app/posts are of decent quality, do not worry about having to write a full length freaking novel.

Another important factor is the limits on FTL. Due to how slow FTL is, it would take years to reach systems that are far away. However with the gates left by the Precursors going to another system with a gate is for all intents and purposes, instant. This should add an interesting layer of fun on top of the RP, on top of everything else we can use the Precursors for.

Beyond that I do not have much else to say, so go nuts and ask any questions you may have about the RP or regarding rules and apps.

Why'd you copy/paste Keyguy's post out of the quote and 'say' it as yours?

Have you never heard of the Navy Seal Copypasta?

Key copied it from elsewhere and made his own variation, I did the same thing.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class at the Roman Space Academy, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on the Abh, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in Knightmare Frame warfare and I’m the top gunner in the entire Roman Armed Forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with power the likes of which has never been seen before on New Rome, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am calling my contacts in the Intelligence Agency across Rome and your location is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my goddamn rifle. Not only am I extensively trained in armored combat, but I have access to the Sakuradite supply and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the planet, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.
