I have an RP idea in mind where you play either a militarized task force designed to eliminate paranormal activity, or something akin to the Umbrella Secret Service.

I am trying to worldbuild god civs akin to the Time Lords or Xeelee, but so far I've yet to get anything concrete down. It is a tad frustrating, but I'll come up with something eventually. I hope.

@Obscene: And that is true. I might try that with a character I'm making for a fic actually. Though they'll be no-nonsense in a largely jovial kind of way.

Yeah. Static was just what popped into my head as the closest descriptor since those are less focused on the character's arc or internal struggle. Not the best wording to use admittedly.

I just want more protagonists with that same resolve, or barring that ones who aren't confused young adults looking to find their place in life analogues.

>Also, when the showdown happens I imagine this will be the battle music:

@ZyxI was asking because I dabbled in Cosmic Horror in past RPs, though it was more Lovecraft Lite and gods could be "beaten" by engaging them in direct combat, though this took great amounts of ability. The characters in these RPs used magic. Not even banishing magic, but things to engage in combat directly, so throwing flames hot enough or buffing their strength high enough that they could hurt these beings. The gods never died, they just kind of went back to sleep like Cthulu if they were defeated. Anyways I bring this up because if I brought one of these characters in, I was curious what that would look like.

Also, being that I have handed control of this RP over, I have relinquished my ability to accept or deny characters, or even really leading the plot (I didn't even have much of one to start, just throwing a bunch of characters into a world to see what happened.) Its on @Heavy Metal to lead the plot and make decisions.

>That's fair, though my intention is that you'll mostly be dealing with its minions. Like a free-for-all RTS between Reapers, Brethren Moons, the Kandarian Demon, and Abhathol. If it ever gets to be fully active we can expect a planet to be reshaped by catastrophes at best. At worst... well it's for the best if we don't consider that I think.
@Zyx I will be eager to see an elder god at play in this RP. Curious; what will Abhathol do to someone who tries to engage in combat with him/it directly?

Also, I was thinking of bringing the Dead Space necromorphs and Brethren Moons, and maybe the Reapers from Mass Effect.

>Warp reality? While taken from a CYOA, it makes it clear that the powers you have are only the fraction you bestow, or gain over the world as your influence grows. Otherwise skies the limit on what you can actually do and it states omnipotence, but I assume that was more poetic license. Eldritch abominations aren't exactly limited however.

>As for fighting directly, I'd assume it'd just fight back. And also pop out a few monsters here and there. It sounds quaint, but this will be an apocalyptic global event with it alone. Never mind all the additional things you plan on bringing in.

I dunno what it is, but every time I read something you write, I feel smarter lol
Seriously tho, i bet you would be the ultimate DM who builds a 1st level quest that nobody could beat.

>I could, if I had an inclination for using dice-based roleplaying systems, but that's about the same as pulling out Cain's sheet from VtM and telling the players to re-roll.

Its very cool i like it, looks like the main boss for high level D&D campaign

>That has more to do with the art I reckon. Personally I don't tend to follow D&D's philosophy when it comes to writing the eldritch, that they can somehow be beaten. In my mind you can push one away for a time, if that, but inevitably it wins. Though that in and of itself is a false dichotomy, as it assumes the entity in question was ever fighting or struggling to begin with. It wasn't naturally, that's just a lie we tell ourselves to sleep soundly at night.

>Still, thanks. All of what it can do comes from a CYOA however, so don't give me too much credit.
At least it's not a Tarasque.

>It won't be killable mind. At most maybe you could nix its avatar, destroy its cult, and sink Kadath (its city), but the entity itself would just go back into another slumber like Cthulhu.
>Speaking of which, here's that entity. The creatures text can be disregarded entirely obviously, since we already know the capabilities of the Kandarian Demon and Deadites.
