Alex nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard the gunshot. While he knew his enhancements made it seem it was louder and closer than it was, he still faded, placing a hand on his dagger's sheathe while he was at it. His fears were confirmed as the screeches, sirens, and crashing of what was most likely a car chase drew closer and closer. Alex cringed at each sound, before a final slam echoed throughout the factory as something big crashed into it, sending him scurrying under a nearby machine.
"My luck really isn't that bad, is it?" Alex wondered. Yet it clearly was, as the carload of robbers fled into the building. Alex watched as Sophie and Jude moved to confront the criminals. "Good, let them fight it out." He watched the pair engage the robbers, not surprised at the ease with which they dispatched the intruders. What truly worried him, however, was the blue and red flashing of the police car outside. He didn't think it was here by coincidence, and the officers were sure to enter the building soon after the first group.
Alex slid out from under the machinery, and quickly made his way toward the door, hoping to slip out in the confusion, before the police enter the building.
