This plot will lack action as I’d like to focus more on the bond between the characters. Doubling won’t be needed, romance will certainly rise to some degree and if there are any important side-characters I expect that we take turns playing them. I imagine that we will pick up right after the plot and use the story more as of a foundation. I have my own ideas in how we can develop the story and characters further, but I'd also love to hear your own suggestions.
Good spelling, decent grammar and a nice flow through the post are a must. Please be over the age of 18.
The Plot
Note: Briefly inspired by the recent Thief game.
At a young age, a boy and a girl find each other in an orphanage in the Dark Middle Ages. Abandoned and loved by none, they form a lasting friendship despite the few years separating them. There are rules on the orphanage and due to limited contributions from the public, food is scarce. Luckily, the market square is just a stone throw away from the orphanage and the boy ventures there every day to pickpocket and to steal from the different vendors. At the time it is not because of greed, but of need.
The rules of the orphanage is that when a child turns sixteen and steps into adulthood the children’s home cannot provide for him or her anymore. So when the boy turns sixteen, he has to reluctantly leave behind his best friend with the promise that he would pick her up when it was her time to go. Without any education or useable skill that would attract an honest job, he takes to stealing and after a couple of years he has become good enough to sell his skills to the highest bidder. He visit the girl regularly and together they craft a plan; the future for her. After seeing rich women walking around the city with their fine dresses and attractive husbands, she has decided that it is the life she wants for herself. She wants to be of noble birth, to be rich and wealthy, and to do so she manipulates the thief. After the many years of steady friendship, she can feel the beating love roam from him and she knows that he would do just about anything to make her happy.
At the age of eighteen, two years after the orphanage and twenty-four long months of hard labor at a local tavern, her thief has gotten her enough coin to buy a property in the capital. It is an old, ruined estate that is rumored to be haunted and she spends her last money on tidying up the façade, only to put up a good face to the community. She is a compulsive liar and a desperate one as well. The most handsome of men are those with the fattest purse. Her road into the life of nobility is through a wealthy, rich man with a good reputation. The beautiful gowns she wears are enough to draw the eyes of both men and women, and within weeks she is the talk of the week. Men ask for the sake of the wives and women ask out of envy.
Within a year, she has created a reputable in the business within the capital. The dresses she sews are the most beautiful and she has quickly risen in the social ladder. She attends parties of worth and acts like a lioness on the savannah; she wants the best husband for herself. With the move a year ago she got no history within the city and has even taken on a new name to ensure that the past stays hidden. She got her fancy, foreign (and made up) background on a sheet of paper and she reads it every night, only to make it even more believable if someone were to ask about her birth, childhood and upbringing.
In the shadows it is the thief who does her dirty work. He steals and sabotages other businesses to make hers more profitable. The foundation of her nice life has only been laid thanks to him and his work, but in her euphoria over feeling her dream brush against her fingertips has swept her mind from any kind of gratitude. They talk little about other things than the next heist and their friendship has become more of a boss – employee relationship. She allows him to stay under the roof of her mansion under the terms that the law must never find out about their cooperation. He suffers under her thumb, but loves her too much to simply do anything that would ruin the life she so desperately sought.

... send me a PM with the title The Thief & The Lady, and do not respond to this thread please. In the PM include a writing sample, preferably one that reflects what kind of average post I can expect from you. I’ll do the same.
To those I’ve had plans (and started RPs with) that simply haven’t gotten a response from me, I apologize, but I’ve been very busy as of late. Feel free to message me again if any of you ever would like to start something again.
