"Glad to have you with us, then!" Roark replied. "I was under the impression that we'd be gathering to move on before too much longer, but I'm not entirely sure. I guess we'll just have to wait until someone who knows more of what's going on lets us in on it! In the mean time, we may as well try getting to know a bit more about each other, since we'll probably be grouped up for a while." After a brief pause, he continued, saying "Luna, where are you from? I'm somewhat familiar with a tribe of people who at least look much like you, that lives in the forest near the base of Greymountain. All I really know about them is that they are well-respected hunters, and I believe that they call themselves Talians?"
"I'll distract them while you get into position, Rain," Kris replied. Having kept his illusion in a slow drift towards the robbers during their planning, he spoke once more as Geist.
"I gave you all warning; you had your chance. Now we must begin this grisly dance." As he projected his couplet at them, he applied a fair bit of telekinetic torsion to the barrels of each firearm, rendering their openings too small for the bullets they would fire. As the last sound of his rhyme reached the minds of the robbers, he forced each trigger back, causing the guns to go off, resulting in a mass backfire knocking a good portion of the thugs down for the count. Timing it to cover the sound of his impact with gunfire, he set himself down on the ground to conserve energy for the coming assault while still maintaining the necessary illusions.
Any remaining thugs found themselves facing a shadowy beast, drawn forth directly from their greatest fear. Shrouding shrapnel and rubble within the bounds of his illusions, Geist had the illusory figures claw and pummel the thugs that were still active, keeping them busy to free up his companions to take out the boss.
That is rather unfortunate; I was really looking forward to being able to play this out a bit further!
Hey, sorry about my unplanned absence; life has this funny way of still happening XD
I just put up a quick post, and hopefully we'll be able to get this thing going again! :-)
Seeing a pair of figures approach, Roark turned his attention to them when they drew near and spoke. In reply to the one who spoke, he said "Well, I certainly wouldn't object to having a few extra hands on board! In briefest summary, we already consist of a healer, an academic arcanist, and an alchemical engineer with a fair bit of soldiering experience," he added, indicating Luna, Robin, and then himself, respectively. "How about you two?"
Hey, sorry about my absence; life has this funny way of continuing to happen!
I'm working on a post right now :-)

Edit: Also, I think that part of the issue I'm having is that I didn't realize that the communication would be seen as taking more than a few seconds, so I didn't really specify anything for the illusion to be doing (though it seems, to me at least, that any experienced illusionist would actually have something for their illusions to be doing, in order to preserve their effect), which may have made it seem to you that it was just sitting there for the span of a few minutes, since that's how long it sounds like you're saying the brief exchange took.
I'm actually having trouble coming up with a post that doesn't either seriously break character or contradict the timeline/continuity that you've laid out, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to ideas.
I should be able to post no later than tomorrow morning, but I'd like to clarify one thing about the intended mechanics of Geist's telepathy beforehand: unless I specifically mention a pace for his mental speech, the communication is nearly instantaneous, so I don't think the planning period would have taken quite as long as it seems to have, based on the boss' comments in your latest post.
Also, as far as any of the bad guys should be able to tell, Geist is still completely in the open, just completely unaffected by their bullets. XD
No worries; life happens!
I would personally tend to assume so (especially considering that it appears as though the GM's intent was for us to all play a single group on this XD).
After a brief pause to get as deep a read as he could on the boss, Geist responded to Zephyr's question, using Kristof's normal voice, rather than the theatrical rasp normally used as Geist to think "This'll be a tricky one; their boss almost has to have some sort of powers, because I can't get nearly as deep of a read on him as I can on most people, and not a single mundane has ever managed that before. I can keep up the theatrics to make sure they're all focused where I want them to, rather than on where any of us actually are. As long as I'm keeping them confused, it would probably be relatively easy for you two to get around to flank, and at least drop some of the mooks without much difficulty."

In the mean time, he stayed tucked behind a pillar, projecting his image to the other side in order to preserve his ethereal motif as the haphazard gunfire passed through it harmlessly.
