The Archadian occupation caught us off guard. Suddenly vast tracts of the continent became unavailable to us, and acquiring bounties has become harder than ever before. Guards roam the streets, and children spread rumors of our existence. It is not a safe time to be an Assassin. We don't know what the Archadian authorities know about us. If they even know for a fact we exist, our tracks are covered well enough. But if they find out that the biggest threat to them is right under their noses in an occupied capital city, we won't be able to fight back.
Welcome, to Rabanastre, once crown jewel of the Dalmascan Desert,now another territory occupied by the powerful Archadian Empire. Some of you may know the tale, of Basch and Ashe and Balthier, and how they toppled the Archadian empire, this is not this universe.
Those power players, the wandering band of sky pirates that took down the empire, do not exist. Instead, for hundreds of years, a Clan of Assassins has operated out of Rabanastre, once a royal family secret, they took down numerous threats to the kingdom, slaying the generals and nobles that would threaten Dalmasca's peace. But not even they could predict or stop the surprise occupation by Archadia.
With the royal family slain, the Assassins must operate autonomously, those who would have once been issued jobs must come up with their own goals, acquire their own funding, and hopefully, take down the Empire and restore their own kingdom.
The adventure begins mere days after the Archadian occupation, when a number of citizens (players) accidentally stumble upon the Guild's hall, it's either join, or be killed.
