Charlie used the thug's own momentum against him and swiped with his hand. He guided the punch just short of his nose and in turn forced the thug to miss and knock himself off balance. Charlie then used this opening to go aid his companion on the ground. He sprinted towards Tamra and planned to deliver the heel of his boot to the man's temple.
Charlie growled after the blow landed onto the man's neck, he then turned to face the man and growled. As he was lunged at he quickly swung his leg high in the air with the intent of connecting with the man's hand. Disarming this foe is vital for Charlie's success in this fight and he knew it.
Charlie didn't have a good feeling about this. He tried to shake off the act of brutality he just committed as he walked through the portal.

Charlie emerged through the portal and was greeted by blade tearing through his clothing. His torso revealed a minor cut but Charlie didn't focus on that he immediately leapt into the air and brought swung his elbow down at the man's neck area.
Charlie felt empowered by the armor bestowed upon him and thanked his new ally for the gift.

"Let's pray I don't need it." He said as he walked over to the man on the ground and lifted his head. He sighed a resentful sigh and punched the man in the face effectively breaking his nose. The blood began to gush from the man's face as he let go of his head letting the blood spill onto the ground. He felt dishonorable in doing that deed but it was necessary and honor was something he had little left of anyway.
Too late

Charlie got eaten by a shark.

I knew it. It must have been his destiny all along.

Charlie Peterson

Charlie woke and groaned. The cardiac monitor beeped, and began to quicken, Charlie began gasping. The monitor raged on in an uncontrollable, furious manner. The piercing beeping filled the room and alarmed the doctor down the hall. The doctor ran to the room and found Charlie sitting up straight a panicked look painted on his face. Tears filled his eyes and his body became heated in a feverish manner. He grew distraught and angry and wanted to scream. The doctor called for help and put his hand on Charlie's shoulder. Charlie flinched rapidly and nearly swung at the doctor. He took a deep breath as the room filled with doctors and nurses all trying to calm him. However Charlie just stared and breathed trying to calm himself. Ignoring the clutter and noise of the room he spoke.

"Where the fuck am I..." Charlie said in a monotone voice as the room continued to roar around him. Nurses were making calls, doctors were checking vitals and talking in a patient tone trying to calm each other and Charlie.

"Hello! Where the fuck am I!" Charlie shouted the compression pained his chest and his lungs pressed against the tight wrap around his torso. It weaved over both of his shoulders and behind his back. He breathed and felt the broken ribs move unnaturally. Then the room grew silent. They all stared at Charlie eyes intently studying him. He felt the room grow tense. Nobody knew what to say. He grabbed the nearest doctor by the coat and pulled him close. The doctor terrified looked into Charlie’s eyes.

“Tell me what happened. Or find me somebody who will.” Charlie said in a low harsh voice. He then released the doctor who immediately straightened his coat and ran out of the room. Charlie spotted a DOVE poster in the hallway through the door as the man ran off. He needed answers, and now.
I am going to us the most BS plot tools I can find to jump Charlie into the fray but he's coming. I've been attempted to keep up as much as possible! I should be able to whip something up. Sorry for the ridiculous absences.
Charlie's eyes flared at the notion of living blood being the only way to open the gate. Judging by how much there was on the floor it would be a substantial amount for any person to spill.

"We could all pool ours together? Minimize loss..." Charlie said and then he motioned toward the rope leading up the wall

"Or perhaps one of us could go fetch one of the men we combatted earlier?"
As Charlie reviewed his surroundings he ran his hands along the walls and the arches.

"Perhaps a puzzle? Or a trap? Does the book help us at all? Otherwise we may just resort to attempting to breaking one of these barriers." Charlie said to the group as he continued to wander around the room looking for a clue. He then knocked on each of the obsidian walls, checking for solidarity.
Charlie accepted the rope and carefully began to repel down to his unlucky companion. He had a bundle wrapped around his forearm so he could easily control the slack, and he precariously stepped down the vertical slope of the wall. Charlie couldn't quite see the details of the room yet but he did notice the blood.

"That's not your blood I hope." He called down to Takao
