Do Not Sleep

Vincent was confused about how Grit and Dreams were the same, but he was not going to dismiss the statement completely considering just how much of a nightmare this event had grown into. The order of "Do Not Sleep" really irritated him. There goes Father asking the impossible again! He would have to figure out a sigil or find one that prevented the need for sleep, and that would waste time that could be used to work through everything else.

The generator was easy enough to get to as everyone was supposed to know where it is for emergency reasons. The defense grid became activated, and everyone in the mansion could breath easy. For now.

Roy peered out the window at the strings of light that barred it, then swiveled his head around to look back to Berry and Vincent. "We'll find the nearest people first. Miss Berry, does that map thingy tell ya where those people are? Mr. DeMoore, d'ya know how to put those pink stones back into their people? If we can bring 'em back to life and escort 'em back here, we'll be doin' some good."

Vincent raised an eyebrow. Roy was there when the Queen said that both Vincent and that cowardly accountant knew the sigil to allow the people to reabsorb their souls, right? Vincent sighed and shook his head quickly coming to the conclusion that the robot had not been listening. "Yeah, I can do it. It's a simple absorption sigil."

Vincent began to trudge throughout the mansion and using his pen drew the required sigil on each person he found then placing their soul stone into the sigil to return it. He decided he would start with Maribeth and go around the house from there. He glanced at Randy the Spear on occasion wondering how he was going to transfer his soul back into his proper body. He was definitely a huge hassle as a spear, and while the power it had was incredible that lack of control he felt when fighting the Grit terrified him. Next time he did something like put a soul into an object he definitely would only put in a piece not the whole thing.
I don't know how quickly I'll be able to get up a post. I just had a break-up with my fiance and my feelings are kind of a scramble right now. I could put up something incredible in the next couple days, or I may just draw a blank. Right now it's looking more like the later. I just want to let you folks know what's up.

Thanks for understanding.

Well that's one way to build into player vs player. >:( CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Vincent stared at the Grit's body as it disintegrated before him. Randy's attack felt just like that... Randy's attack. Not his. He felt frustration immediately rise. He hated not being in control. While he could not help but be amazed at how quickly he defeated the monster. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath forcing himself to calm down. This was not the time to be upset about control.

"Don't just stand there!" Randy snapped at him. "You've got crap to do."

Vincent snapped to attention and then shook his head bitterly. "Shut up."

Down the hallway Vincent heard Roy's voice.

"Mr. DeMoore, you'd mentioned there might be a way to fortify this place against more invaders. Now's a pretty good time to do that. What can we do to help?"

Vincent decided it would be prudent to make his way down the hallway back to Roy and Berry. "I went to the library to find some books related to Rune Magic that would help. I'm definitely no Master like Father, but I know enough to be dangerous to the Grit." He scanned the room in search of the servant that was holding a book. That Rounard Skip book was the key to their survival. "Father had a plan. He knew this would happen. Well, at least he had a good idea it would."

He trudged over to where the servant's stone body was and searched it. "He had the plan in Rounard Skip's book. If we find it." He glanced up at Roy and Berry. "Also, this building has a generator. If we can get that running the mechanical defenses will activate." He found the book gripped in the arms of the servant and worked on easing it out from its grasp.

He leaned Randy on his left shoulder so he could use both hands to flip through the pages of the book to find whatever Father left in there.
I'll try and put up a post by the weekend. I've been crazy busy with my agency's classes.

Anise opened her now violet eyes as soon as she felt herself awaken. That piece that felt like it was missing still was, but regardless of that fact she felt somewhat more complete. Something that had left her feeling foggy before now left her clear and focused. She glanced around to see that her shattered dress had been replaced by a blue and very plain smock-dress. The next thing she saw was that none of the light around her had been created by either of the Lanterns she had held. So, not only had the Dragon lost her patience and hurried desperately to her body, but in her madness she took the Flight Egg as well.

She closed her eyes as dark feelings swirled inside of her. She was disappointed in herself just as much as she was in the Dragon. That ichor covering her body must have been the reason why she is so feared and hated. Then her rage boiled up. Her anger at the Lord of Shadow whom so greedily gathered power for himself and cared not about taking care of the Forest he was supposed to be in charge of. She fumed about the other Spirits who clearly did not care about the decay this world suffered in their actions and inaction. Above all of that she was furious with herself for failing to make any action that helped the Forest. Everything she had done had only placed it one step closer to its final destruction.

Once she had taken the time to calm down, she reopened her eyes and caught out of the corner of her eye a shadowy something. At first glance she saw the familiar shape of an old man grinning at her. She took a moment to realize who it was and then her heart jumped. Then Peck appeared before her and she quickly calmed. Perhaps not everything she had done had resulted in failure. After all, she had successfully saved him. Barely.

"Hey, you're back." He grinned a little, uncertain. "Don't move fast, you're okay, you're at the Roost. There's nothing to be done right now."

She sat upright steadily and accepted the cold water he handed her. Drinking it she realized just how parched she had become.

"The white Lantern is with the Dragon now," Peck informed Anise. "Everyone sees this as a bad omen, but we know the Dragon's return will be a good thing, right? Just three more Lanterns -- is that how it works? -- and the sun can come back." He offered her a smile. "You did it. Too bad Pirates are hard-headed and hard-convinced."

Her heart sunk heavily. She had no desire to disappoint any of them, but Peck was a special case where it would be world shattering to the both of them. If she lied to him, he would find out eventually and it would scar their relationship forever. However, telling him the truth would do just as much. At least that was how she imagined it. She finished drinking the water while she thought of a way to respond to him. She had accepted the fact that the Lady of Stone was correct in that she was a fraud. She had even convinced herself of her status. If anything she was a shard of the Lady of Light, but she was certainly not the Lady herself.

Then something clicked. If she could actually become the Lady of Light she would gain all the abilities that came with that territory. Light was a pure and cleansing thing. It brought clarity so all could see. If she was right in that she had a piece of that power then all she had to do was follow it to the true source. It would be connected just like the Dragon's power was. Then she could quite possibly cleanse the ichor from the Dragon before she became whole.

She looked directly at Peck eyes intense with focus. "Peck, my work it far from over. That dark ichor you saw on the Dragon's body is no good thing, but she is desperate and lost her patience. I do not know if the Lord of Shadow is responsible for it or if it's something else that simply... synergizes with the darkness." She looked at her hand with the Sun Rune scarred onto it. "Right now, I am just Anise Sinclair, the Princess of Riverford. At most I only have a piece of the Lady of Light within me. Since the Lord of Shadow prevents everything from truly dying I might be able to find her essence. Then I might be able to cleanse that evil from her. Then I might be able to save this world from the decay it has suffered over the centuries." She smiled at Peck full of hope. "Hope is far from gone."

She then concentrated on the Sun Rune. Every intent focused in on finding the true Lady of Light's spirit. She searched for the connection between her Light and the Lady's. She fully immersed herself in this search. She would make the Lady of Stone a liar. She would save the Dragon from that corruption. She would save this world from its destruction. As soon as she found that connection she would begin her march to her destination.

I'm seeing so many paths for Anise to take at this current point of the RP. I feel a bit overwhelmed. The three big choices I have for myself are:

1. Continue working to free the sun from the Lady of Stone's grasp.

2. Since the original Lady of Light was killed, I had a thought where her spirit was stuck in this world much like all the other dead people in the Forest. Anise would use her Light Rune to see if it had a connection to the Lady of Light's remaining essence and then seek it out to make it her own and truly become the new Lady of Light.

3. Make every effort to complete the acquisition of all the Lanterns in spite of whomever is controlling them at the time and complete the Dragon's reconstruction while simultaneously working to purify the darkness oozing from the Dragon's body, because I don't like the sound, sight, or smell of it (much less the sound or feel *ewwww*).

There are a few others that have floated through my brain, but these are the three that have seriously stuck. Hrmmmm.... options.
Wooo! I figured it out finally!
"Figures," Vincent muttered dryly. Father always was right. Always had a plan. Always. He hated it. He hated being in the shadow of Father. The old man likely was alive somewhere instead of a statue like Maribeth and Randy. All he had to do was find that book. He needed it anyways.

Then he remembered the butler in the main hallway was holding onto a book. Rounard's book was not in the library, thus he concluded the obvious. "'Don't do anything stupid.'" His tone was dark. "Everything I do is carefully planned. It's the one thing I inherited from Father that I don't hate."

Heart pounding, he stepped up to the door. He imagined the Grit was trying to ambush him, but he wanted to counter that with a small surprise of his own. He was going to hide on the inside of the door and ambush the damn thing. He put his hand on the doorknob and eyed Randy.

"On three."

He took a breath to calm his heart. "One."

He closed his eyes to focus his feelings and concentrate on what was ahead of him. "Two."

Finally he reopened his eyes letting his anger towards the invading Grit prime him for combat. "Three!"

He swung open the door stepping along with it ready for the snake Grit to charge into the room. To charge into an ambush. Should all go according to Vincent's plan, predator would become prey.

Thanks! All I have to do right now is wait for the real estate commission to get my application for the exam to get my license and get a 70 or better on it. Then it's interview time.

I'm going to add a bit more to my post... I had a great idea overnight.
