Sorry for kinda disappearing. I had a string of small emergencies that kept me away from my computer. Shouldn't happen again though. I'm reading and should have something posted shortly after.

Although I should mention I may have rather minimal posting until Sunday night. I should get on close to once a day, hopefully.

Also wanted to mention, I'm in Central Time Zone in the US.
Mikael nodded as David spoke of his time in the wars. He knew how it was seeing gruesome scenes, and almost couldn't imagine seeing those scenes every day. Sure, Mikael had seen his only family brutally murdered, twice, but every new war would bring new friends for David, and new friends would bring new mourning. Mikael was almost still in a trance when David pulled a bag of blood out of his bag and began to drink it.

Mikael kept his cool, dropping his cigarette and crushing it under a boot rather than shaking his head to snap out of the trance. "No, I don't mind at all. I'd rather it be that than mine," Mikael said, only half joking. While David seemed trustworthy, Mikael didn't just hand trust out like candy. He was deep in thought when he realized he hadn't answered David's question. He straightened up, standing next to the outer wall of the compound rather than leaning against it, and said, "My dad had always been intrigued by the supernatural. He taught me everything I know, so I guess you could say I've always been tangled up in the supernatural. The Regiment has been watching me for years, and they recently caught a break. I got into some BS legal trouble, and they sprung at the opportunity. Basically, I'm here on a favor."

Due to his barebones story, Mikael knew David would probably know there was way more to the story than Mikael cared to share, but he wasn't about to give away his past to someone he had just met. Either way, his story would have been cut short by a young-looking female approaching Carson then bursting into the main building. Mikael nodded in David's direction and said, "Wanna follow her? She seems to know where she's going." Mikael then started walking towards the door, although he would hesitate if David asked any more questions.
After Carson answered Mikael's questions, Mikael just sat in the passenger seat and stared out the window, contemplating everything. By the time they pulled up to the check point, Mikael still wasn't one hundred percent sure he could trust the wolves. 'Only time would tell', he thought as he gave an inward shrug. The man at the checkpoint seemed to indicate that Mikael looked the part, but he was much too busy staring out the window to notice. Only when Carson killed the engine did Mikael snap out of his trance.

Looking up after being in such a deep trance, Mikael nodded and said, "I think I'll be hanging around here as well. I have time to scope everything out after I know exactly what's going on."

Right as Mikael finished talking, David pulled up on his bike. Even though the road they took was gravel, the bike looked pristine. There wasn't a scratch or a spot on it. It was beautiful. Suddenly, Mikael realized David was offering him a cig. While Mikael had smoked on and off, he never really like the things, but, against his better judgement, reached out and grabbed one. He flipped it in his hand, waiting for David to light the cig, and once David lit it, Mikael moved his hand towards his mouth. After a long inhale and subsequent exhale of smoke through his nose, Mikael nodded and said, "Thanks. I normally don't smoke, but after the past few days, and what I'm sure will be coming soon, I needed this."

After Mikael finished talking, he went back to taking deep drags from the cigarette, analyzing David. He had never met a vampire and didn't know what to think of them. From what he knew, vampires didn't like werewolves and vice versa. That meant, at least to Mikael, the two had a common enemy, and as the saying goes 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.'

Mikael was almost done with his smoke when he pulled it out of his mouth, flicking the ashes onto the gravel below, when he nodded toward David and said, "Carson told me you have an interesting story. Care to share?"
I'm fine with whatever. I figured we'd be pulling up as Carson finished. Either way, Mikael has nothing to say.

That being said, I won't be available to post today. Maybe, maybe tonight when I get home, but maybe not until Sunday night. I'll do my best though
Mikael looked at the man who he now knew was named Carson. "I didn't know what else to call you, so I figured everyone would know who I was talking about if I called you Silence."

Mikael waited until they were out of earshot of the other three before diving into a few more questions. "Before we get to the compound, I have a few questions I need to ask you." Mikael reached for the radio, turned it on, and hoped the music would drown out their voices to anyone who was listening. "What are the other three? I am assuming the two women are werewolves by the way you talked about them, but I want to know if I'm right. Also, what's David? Is he human, vampire, werewolf, or something new?"

Mikael shook his head slowly. He knew he was bombarding Carson with questions, but he didn't assume there was a whole lot of time before they reached the compound, and he needed answers. At the very least, he had to find out what else he was dealing with.

"The werewolves, are they like the ones that killed my family? If they are, so help me God, I will not let them continue breathing. I know we are supposed to be a team, but I find it nothing but a sick joke that your 'organization' would pair the man who lost everything he had cared about, twice, to werewolves with a pair of werewolves. Honestly, unless you or your boss can convince me otherwise, I'm not sure I could ever work with them. I hope I don't sound too unreasonable, but if either of those women, or the man, whatever he is, has torn apart families like mine has been torn apart, I just can't do it."

With his last words, Mikael retreated into himself, pulling a knife from his boot and running the sharp edge of the blade along his thumb. He wasn't pushing enough to cut the skin, but there was enough pressure to help Mikael focus on something other than what he'd lost. After another couple of strokes, Mikael pulled a flask out of the space between his boot and inner calf, swallowed enough whiskey for a couple of shots, and replaced the flask. He continued slicing the exterior layers of skin on his thumb, waiting for Carson to answer.
"Well, I for one, don't want to walk. I'll ride with Silence."

Secretly, Mikael had some questions for this "Silence" character. Specifically, he wanted to ask about the two women who were walking. Why would someone call an SUV unnatural? The only reason that came to Mikael's mind was werewolf. His thinking may have been clouded by fear or anger, although he could not tell you which, and it would have been very, very possible for it to be a mix of both. He knew one of the girls' names was Ruri, that the wolf was named Dranger, and that the other woman was odd, to say the least.

The other man, David was his name, looked like someone Mikael could get along with. He looked like a man that gave in to his vices much too often and had a good time doing it. There was something about a man who could look his problems in the face and say, "So what" that Mikael could admire. While riding with him to the compound wouldn't have been terrible, it may have been awkward to fit two grown males on a bike, especially when an SUV was available. That, and Mikael really wanted to know if the two women were werewolves. He wasn't sure if he would make a plan to dispose of them, but he needed to know.

Mikael climbed into the passenger's side of the SUV, dumping his pack in the back seat. He looked at Silence, patiently waiting for the SUV to start before asking any questions.

Not sure how a human can smell a werewolf from that far away. i didnt know humans could pick up scents like wolves and dogs like that. damn as a human in RL i am lacking it on one of my senses. But it is what it is, beside im sure in human form werewolves smells like other humans. just saying good post other then that.

My thought was one had just transformed back. Between that and the line of thought that certain stimuli from traumatic events (patterns, scents, or tastes) are remembered and overly-sensed, I just went with it. Although, going back and rereading, it does seem a little far fetched, at least smell. I'm going to revise that. Thanks for bringing it up.
Edit: I changed it to be more of a paranoid response to the possibility of werewolves rather than some form of super-human smell. I did just use a strike through to edit so others could see what this post is about, but just pretend as if I deleted it. That or I will delete it after everyone has had the chance to view it.
Mikael stepped off the bus, directly in front of the church in Eureka, California. Due to the heat, Mikael was wearing black jeans and a black cut-off V-neck. He had a military style suit case slung across his back holding his katana, some extra clothes, a copy of the letter he received from the Regiment, and a picture of his family. He had his pistol holstered across his stomach, under his shirt, and a plethora of knives tucked into various places such as his back pocket, two in each boot, and another couple in his pack.

Mikael looked around, and spotting the diner, started walking towards the alley. As he did, he began to slowly replay the last couple of days in his head. It all started when he had decided to join the Regiment over spending his life in jail. Then the man from the forest took him home, and before leaving, explained a couple things to him. The man told Mikael to expect to have to work with others, and not just that, but possibly werewolves. He also said something about vampires, but Mikael didn't care as much about them. He knew some of the vampires weaknesses from the books his father had collected, but had never seen one in real life. He was focused on the werewolves. The man told Mikael he would get the chance to slay some of the foul beasts, he may have to work with a few as well. Mikael was also informed that any attempt to kill a "coworker" would result in his prison sentence coming back. After the man left, Mikael received a letter in the mail, telling him to pack up and find a way to Eureka, California. He packed quickly and lightly, leaving specific instructions to his landlord to not open the chest in the middle of his apartment and to send it to the address Mikael would eventually call with. He wasn't about to leave his only belongings from his father across the country.

As Mikael rounded the corner, the hairs on his neck raised. He saw a wolf, two men, and two women. Undoubtedly, the women were werewolves. He couldn't mistake the smell, not after what he had gone through. Something about a wolf standing calmly with humans rattled him. He had read about wolves being companions of werewolves, and decided to be careful. He pulled a knife out of his boot, flipped it so the blade rested against his arm, and slowly made his way to the group of people. He stood a short distance away, took a deep breath, and walked up to the group, hearing something about a task force who hunts supernaturals. His blood began to pound.

He would wait for the man to speak his piece, then reply with "Silence". His heart pounded fiercely as the excitement grew within him.
Sorry about the wait. I had something pop up that wasn't expected. I'm working on reading the IC and posting now.
