I was there and now I'm not.

How many roleplayers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Quit trying to railroad the plot, the room is perfectly fine in the dark.

This sounds neat! I'd like to see where this goes.
The world pulsated and roared around Moth. The sound came to him from a great distance, a dull throb from somewhere out of focus. All he could see was an inky black, like an ocean that never saw sunlight. Sounds coalesced around him, the rhythmic shouts and screams of people scattering around him.

He opened his eyes. Light assaulted him and made him groan. At least, he thought he groaned. It was hard to tell if he was even still alive, or if his soul was experiencing things apart from his body. Ah, okay, yes he was alive. There was pain. A lot of it.

Shapes appeared next, slowly running together into tangible forms and colors. Moth peeled himself off the ground and pushed himself to his elbows and looked around. Behind him, a statue he hadn't noticed before was pointing over the Wall and had its mouth open in mid-shout. The foreman. Forewoman.

"Wh...wh..."

An explosion of light and sound flashed in his mind. Moth remembered. A tremendous light had shot to the sky from somewhere out in the fields. The woman shouted something to her workers, and then there was a sound like thunder and it all went black.

"MWAAP MWOORP MWAP MURRP MAARP!"

He tried to shake the ringing from his ears as he jerkily pulled himself to his feet. There was too much noise, too much sound and roaring and banging and...

"WE GOTTA GO GUYS!"

Okay, THAT he heard. Moth raised his head and looked around, some things still out of focus. The sky to the south was black. There was no twilight inbetween, just an abrupt break from day to night, directly overhead. Head still pounding, the world still swimming around him, Moth turned and walked unsteadily to the light, towards the sounds of shouting.
I FEEL ASLEEP.

Sorry, played too much Skyrim and passed out on the couch downstairs. Then the couch upstairs. Then the boyfriend dragged me off the couch and made me go to bed. But I'm writing now!

Edit: Okay written! Poor Moth will probably have physical and mental trauma from all this, heh.
You guys have no idea how thrilled I am that you're on board with what's happening, haha! Thank you. <3

I mean I expected a massive attack and thousands of people panicking and buildings crumbling and the wall falling apart, but this is different, I think I like this more!

I for one am entirely interested in your music choices, whether or not they're specifically for Moth! I can't write without music, and it's extremely important to keep up a consistent feel for a story. Absolutely any music that inspires you, I'd love to give it a listen! :D

If you had asked me two weeks ago to pick a song about a giant walled-in fantasy sci-fi city, I would've gone with this:

Iron Savior - Megatropolis (2.0 Version)

First, I'm a huge power metal fan. I love uplifting, empowering heavy metal, the kind that inspires me and fills me with joyous energy! Second, Iron Savior is my favorite band. Third, I love layered vocals, which they have a lot of! I spend a lot of time listening to their entire discography on repeat.

As for the Grit, maybe something badass and confident:

Battle Beast - Shutdown

Another band I listen to constantly. That woman's voice is freaking insane!

And Moth. Poor, timid, terrified Moth. Everyone sees a weak little accountant, a boy barely become a man, with everything about him pointing to a boring mid-level office job for the next fifty years. But somewhere, deep deep inside, may beat the heart of a lion. Someone desperate for more out of life, a chance to show everyone who he can become when the world cries for a hero. Or he'll just sit in the dark and wait for someone to rescue him. But maybe!

Keldian - Dreamcatcher

Something slightly less forceful, more emotional and spacey and symphonic. A very little-known band, with only two members, who have never toured or even played their music live as far as I know. And yes I have all three of their albums on permanent repeat.

Shit this went on for a while. Sorry. I really get into my music. I'll make a post by tonight! Cue epic fantasy intro music!

Eternal Dream - March of Immortals / God of War
I've got a silly idea. Maria's got a pretty nifty theme song, and Dud has offered a pretty cool theme song for the RP. Does anyone else have character theme songs to share? I might make a playlist! xD

(also might help with remembering characters and getting a feel for their personalities early in the game!)

Ugh. I tend to go overboard with music. It's kinda lame but that's where I get most of my writing inspiration from. So many stories and characters I've thought about for months at a time over the years but never put into words. SO. That said, I don't have one for Moth. I have so much awesome music but nothing that comes to mind right away for the character that goes with the general feel of the story so far. I'll find something eventually.

So. Here we go!

Ohshitherewego. I'm excited!

Edit:

Okay. So. Wow. First of all, I didn't expect Dazz to be gone with the rest of them. So the southern half of the city is in darkness? Does that mean only half the people were turned to stone? I'm guessing it will spread at some point maybe. Second, aaaa I don't know what to do! Moth will probably be catatonic, hah. I'll make a post tomorrow.

Also third this is awesome!
"You that accountant from the . . . color-wheel firm?" Seemed a bit young to be doing such important work, but maybe that would work in her favor. Dazz gestured with her head back toward the building block. "C'mon, then. Get this over with, right?"

Moth stood abruptly, pushing his hair back with one hand and clutching his calculator in a death grip with the other.

"Um yes sir...ma'am...miss foreman...forema'am! Uh...you!"

Moth smiled hugely and playfully punched her on the arm. Following the absolute, stony silence, his smile froze and he could feel his entire body burning red with embarrassment. His heartbeat rumbled in his head and he wanted to crawl in a hole and disappear. Or was that thunder?

"I...I have the reports in order, and I've been tasked to--AHEM--to um, go over a few budgetary concerns that have come to light over the past few months, and, uh...miss...ma'am?"

He could tell the forewoman's attention was wandering and he was subconsciously thankful for it. Moth followed her gaze, out over the Wall, to an almost invisible hollow in the distant pastures. O...kay. Maybe she really liked grass.
After a few more minutes of running, Moth finally ran out of energy and slumped forward, hands on knees. A few people milled around him, either not noticing or not caring about the small young man covered in sweat and on the verge of blacking out. It was his first real field assignment with the partnership, and he had already screwed it up. He shuffled towards the nearest section of wall and fell backwards against it, sliding into a sitting position. His heart pounded in his ears. He gazed out towards the open expanse and it all came back to him. A torrent of birds rose from somewhere far away and scattered into the air. The clouds were already turning from pink and orange into a silky bluish white as the sun continued to rise over the opposite end of the Wall. It was still early in the morning and the tourists were scarce; moreso in an area so close to construction.

Moth tapped a keyboard and pulled up an image of his Sigil of Stamina. He concentrated, and tried his best to clear his mind, and hoped. Someday he would get there. Someday he would be sitting in one of those offices, numbers dancing in his head and the world displayed in formulas and graphs before him. Someday he would make partner. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Brown, and Piper, LLC. The Sigil glowed.

Moth took a deep breath and exhaled, shaking. The sweat cooled and his heart returned to almost a normal rhythm.

@drewccapp"All is not lost in this venture. I get at least two pretty sights today."

Directly across from him, a young couple with their backs to him flirted openly. A young woman nearby sniffled loudly as she looked out over the valley and clutched a book to her chest. Another woman stood nearby and snapped pictures. Not of the view, like he expected, but of people. Weird.

@Eodwyn Aether"Relax boss lady, I’m sure by the time the inspector or whatever he is called arrives everything will be done."

Boss lady? Moth's spirits perked up.

@Tojin"Um, excuse me. Are you in charge here?"
@OnlyThePie"You rang boss?"

A little girl who crinkled was tugging on a worker's sleeve. Another worker was trying to get her attention. Looking closer, Moth noticed several people surrounding her. He suddenly got the feeling of something just below the surface, like a large bubble in a pot of boiling water rising to the top. Or a bomb about to go off. Moth pulled his knees to his chest and subconsciously pressed himself against the wall.
Naw, Otto is the inspector! And Gabriel is the investigator investigating the so-called accidental death of someone named Roger. We have yet to determine what actually happened to Roger and what the wall builders may or may not have had to do with it. ;)

Oh right! I'm trying to follow everyone and it's all so cool and a little confusing! I love how different everyone is so far, how no character fits easily into any stereotype. Also I changed my character's sigil into something actually useful that a computer wouldn't be able to do.

I posted, so I hope I got everything (and everyone) right this time. I'm going to be good at this eventually!
Is Moth the inspector? I don't think Moth is the inspector. Maybe a representative with the accounting firm sent to sit in on the meeting and provide numbers and financial reports.

Anyway, I'll be posting in about six hours. I want to see Dazz go off on Ethan, heh.
I keep forgetting who's character is who, it's throwin me off XD

I know what you mean! Maybe we can add characters to our statuses. Or signatures.
