I . . . I can't relate to this whatsoever. I'm usually focused on the plot, tension-building scenes, etc. Whatever social aspects of shows I do get involved with is more along the lines of "This character X should do say Y to character Z" or "This character X should do this to character Y so that they'll get Z accomplished"
I mean, I get the reasons, sort of. Then again, I've gathered that this shipping thing is popular among fangirls of shows like Supernatural and Doctor Who and movies like Harry Potter and Hunger Games. three of which i found to be mediocre and lacking in many aspects
it must be a fandom thing, though.
