More efficient. Why reach in and remove a tumor when you can change it so that it's impotent? Not that that's necessarily possible, but the same applies to the Sevenfold Covenant. I guess an arbitrary magic would do much the same thing as you'd do in the surgery. There'd be no need for cutting open the side; teleportation would move the kidney. If you're supposed to cut out the kidney, then I suppose it would also do some precise cutting in order to sever the kidney.
