I Just Wanna Live
Unlike most of his peers, Kavan Varma had not initially planned on attending Santiago's big shindig. Instead, the young man had been roped into spending this particular Friday night at home with his family; not only was it movie night in the Varma household, but Kavan's older sister also happened to be bringing her boyfriend home to meet them all for the very first time. It didn't take much convincing to get Kavan to agree to it all; truth be told, he looked forward to aiding his parents in embarrassing his sister in every way he could possibly think of. In fact, Kavan had even strategically placed multiple baby pictures of Amoli Varma all around the kitchen, dining room, and den so that her hot date was guaranteed to find at least one of them before the night was over.

Kavan had only just begun to delve into a few embarrassing childhood stories with his sister's man when his cell phone began to vibrate in his back pocket. After reading Archer Diedrikson's text message, Kavan couldn't help but feel conflicted. While he certainly didn't want to skip out on the rest of family time, he also didn't want to miss out on the first party of the year, especially when his friends were going to be in attendance. After thinking it over for a moment, Kavan suddenly stood from his seat at the dining table and motioned for a nearby butler to take away his empty plate. "Dinner was great, mother," Kavan said with a sly smile as he began to inch his way out of the room, "And it was so nice to meet you, dude. But you know, I have a lot of homework to catch up on, and I forgot that I'd promised Archer that I would go to his place for a little study session." As Kavan spoke, Amoli Varma could be seen at the other end of the table, narrowing her eyes at her baby brother.

"No way," Amoli said, crossing her arms over her chest, "You're not weaseling your way out of this just so you can go hang out with your little boyfriend." Kavan, struggling to keep from rolling his eyes, simply shrugged his shoulders and slowly began to make his way back to his original seat.

"I mean, I can always cancel on him," Kavan said with a sigh, "Besides, I still have so many stories that I haven't told our new friend here, right? Like what happened on your first day of col-"

"No!" Amoli Varma yelled suddenly as she jumped out of her seat. After noticing the weird looks she received from her family members, however, she regained her composure and sat back in her chair. "I mean, maybe you should go study with Archer. You do want him to get high grades this semester, right mother?"

Kavan arrived at Santiago's party about ten minutes after he'd gotten the text from Archer. As soon as he got the OK from his parents, the young man had rushed upstairs, changed into his swim trunks, and took the quick drive to the location of the party. As Kavan approached the front doors, the music grew louder and the amount of drunk teenagers flailing around began to increase. It only took him a few moments to find Archer; he'd arrived near the bunch of Misfits right in time to hear someone yell. "Kavi, no. You can't just drag people around..." was all Kavan heard before he decided to tune the entire thing out completely. Instead, he headed straight for the refreshment table.

"Sup, guys," Kavan said, nodding his head in greeting as he poured himself a drink. Kavan had never been much of a drinker; in fact, he hardly drank at all thanks to the awful taste of nearly every alcoholic beverage. That night, however, would be the one exception. After all, he was kicking off his final year of high school, so what the Hell?

{"When you fight yourself to discover the real you, there is only one winner."}

It was a bright Saturday morning in the small Amish community of Marrowbone, and Elizabeth King felt nothing but pure excitement and anticipation as she stood before Joseph at the front of the church. Masking her face was an innocent, neutral look of intent, but her mind had been in a completely different place since she'd finished packing her things the night before. There was a certain gleam in Elizabeth's eye when she daydreamed about all of the places she'd eventually get the chance to visit, the exotic foods she'd get to taste, or the new things she'd get to learn. Truth be told, Elizabeth was ready to spread her wings and take on New York City with her group of childhood friends; never in a million years, however, would she even think about admitting this horrible truth to her family.

"You are going to come back home, right Lizzy?" John King, Elizabeth's seven year old brother, had asked her the night before as she folded a few articles of clothing and stuffed them into her suitcase. Of course Liz wanted to just nod her head and give her baby brother all of the reassurance he needed; she wanted to be able to tell him that this wouldn't be the last time they'd see each other. Instead, she gave him a long hug and several kisses before telling him to head to bed. Elizabeth simply didn't have the heart to tell him, or any other of her family members, that she was itching to get away. She couldn't bear to think of how they'd react if she told them that she was already contemplating what it would be like to live the rest of her life outside of Marrowbone.

Elizabeth was suddenly shaken out of her daydream when Joseph approached each of the teens, laying hands on each of them before letting Levi take over. It was in that moment that Liz began to pay close attention to what was being said. When she was handed a brown paper bag, she simply took a quick peek at the items inside before waiting for Levi to continue. Soon, the group of teenagers were boarding their bus, and Elizabeth made sure to sit as close to Eli and Eddy as possible. She ended up snagging the seat directly behind Eddy; unfortunately, she was stuck sitting next to Willa Huyard. Liz always thought that Willa was a nice girl, but the way she always tried to do things the way Liz did them had slowly begun to irritate the young woman as time went on. It was almost like she idolized her or something.

The journey to New York City seemed to be a long one thanks to all of the pit stops the bus had to make on the way, but Elizabeth was wide awake throughout the entire trip. Her eyes lit up as soon as the bus crossed state lines, and her heartbeat quickened once they'd arrived in New York City. "Look!" The young woman said in a hushed tone a she tapped her two closest friends on their shoulders and pointed out of the window, "There are so many people! So many lights and tall buildings!" The woman nearly pressed her face against the glass window as she spoke, trying to take in as much of her surroundings as she could. This was where she was going to live for the next few years. This was her new home.

As soon as the bus finally arrived at the station and the teenagers took their first steps onto New York grounds, a woman wearing a beautiful fur coat quickly approached them. Elizabeth took in the woman's entire ensemble as she introduced herself as Tommy's girlfriend, and the girl couldn't help but immediately feel out of place in her bonnet, plain dress, and Winter coat. She snapped out of this quickly, however, when Ashley began ushering them off into a passenger van. Soon they arrived at their destination, and a smile found its way upon Elizabeth's face once more as she stepped foot into where she'd be living for the time being. That smile faded, however, when the group was informed that there were only six rooms and that they would be separated by gender. She couldn't help but frown in Eddy and Eli's direction as she took her own coat off and began up the stairs, following close behind Mercy.

Elizabeth was standing outside of one of the rooms when she came to a sudden realization: Since there were three rooms and five girls, there was a strong chance that Willa would want to be her roommate. Without another thought, Liz approached none other than Adelinde Miller, tapping her gently on the shoulder so she'd turn to face her. "Hey Ade, you mind if we bunk together since there are only three rooms? I'll even take the couch if you don't want to share a bed."
Yasss. I'm here for it!!

The nearly earsplitting sound of Reggaeton prompted Chanel Martin to turn her head in the direction of the music while her friend continued to people-watch. Apparently, someone had decided that they wanted to make some kind of grand entrance; Chanel couldn't help but roll her eyes as she watched the vibrating car cruise through the front gates. When the occupants of the vehicle came within eye-sight, the young woman wasn't surprised in the slightest to see that the source of the loud music was none other than Santiago Fernandez. She also wasn't surprised when she spotted April Foster sitting in the passenger seat.

For as long as Chanel could remember, those two had been practically inseparable; at this point, Chanel wasn't even sure if the two were seeing each other or simply "best friends," whatever the Hell that entailed. Chanel had never been very fond of Santiago Fernandez; in fact, he was probably one of the few people at King's Academy that she would say she strongly disliked. In her eyes, Santiago was nothing more than a good-for-nothing, pretentious "fuck boy." Despite how she felt about the boy, Chanel usually found herself keeping these opinions to herself thanks to her ongoing friendship with April Foster; as long as he wasn't doing anything to hurt the girl, what he did and what the two of them did together was none of her concern.

After watching the couple for a few seconds, Chanel suddenly redirected her attention to a table that Julie had been gazing at for a while. She instantly recognized AndrΓ©s and Martha, and only found it slightly odd that the two were sitting together. After all, they did run in completely different circles; Chanel couldn't even think of a time when she saw them speaking to each other. She was about to shrug the whole thing off and redirect her gaze once more when Julie began to speak. β€œI don’t know about fixing CoCo, but you know how Martha’s always…” Her sentence was cut short, however, by a new arrival. Chanel raised an eyebrow at her friend before turning to see April Foster standing at their table.

"Oh hey, girl!" Chanel said with a small grin, "Long time, no see. I'm feeling the fit, by the way." As she spoke, the young woman couldn't help but look at the alterations that April had made to her uniform; not only had her skirt been hemmed up, but she had exchanged her uniform jacket and the required shoes for a cropped leather jacket and riding boots. Though she hadn't made the most fashionable of choices, to say that Chanel was impressed by April's boldness would be an understatement. Suddenly, Julie stood from her seat and announced that they'd better get moving if they wanted to make it to homeroom, and Chanel quickly began to gather her things. "Yeah, let's go before Victoire finds her way over here," Chanel said with a roll of her eyes as she fell into step with Julie, "I spent too much time fixing up this fuckin' uniform for her to dress code me."

High School memories, man.
