Bio
My name is Jordan, but everyone usually just calls me Jo. I'm 29 years old, and I'm from Brooklyn, NYC. I've got a little over 17 years of RP experience under my belt. You'll usually see me in SOL RPs. My discord is Ejected#5448
It was a chilly Christmas Eve in New York City, and for the first time in a little over five years, Chanel was back in her old stomping grounds. It was around seven o'clock, and she'd felt that old familiar feeling of home ever since she'd touched down a few days prior; the "brick" weather, the tourist-infested streets, the bodegas and pizzerias on every corner... it was all too familiar. It felt good for Chanel to be able to pull her old bubble coat from the back of her closet and stroll around Brooklyn with her older brother. It made her feel as if she were twelve again, back when her brother would practically drag her the entire way to the nearest subway entrance so they wouldn't be late for school. Chanel couldn't help but smile as she strolled, her nose suddenly catching a whiff of Armando's pizza. "So you definitely wanna cop ya little sister a slice, right?" Chanel asked her brother in a sickeningly sweet tone.
Andre looked as though he wanted to say no, but how could he say no to his little sister on her very own birthday? Without hesitation, the young man began fishing around his pockets for what Chanel assumed to be a few spare dollars; Chanel waited outside, taking in all of her surroundings as she waited for her brother to return. In the meantime, she decided to scroll through her social media feeds; the very first picture that appeared on her screen was one of none other than Santiago Fernandez, April Foster, and her quickly growing baby belly. Of course, she gave it a like, before moving on to respond to some messages of her own.
"You know, I just knew you were gonna want a big ass pepperoni slice, just like how you'd order when you were a kid," Andre said as he returned to his sister's side. "So that's why I made sure to call in ahead." In Andre's hand was not just a single slice of pepperoni pizza, but an entire 12-inch pie. A single lit candle sat in the very middle of said pizza, ready to be blown out by the birthday girl. Tears instantly began to blur Chanel's vision, and memories of parents began to flood her mind. "I remember mom and dad used to do this for you every year, right? Cause for some reason, your bum ass never liked birthday cake." Chanel laughed at her brother's attempt to avoid getting in his feels, before quickly blowing out the candle and reaching for a slice of the pie. "So what did you wish for?"
Pretending to have a stuffed mouth of pizza, Chanel hesitated for a few moments before sucking in a deep breath and letting it all come out. "I wished that we could go and see them now... mom and dad. Cause you know we haven't since..." As he tossed the candle aside and closed the pizza box, Andre remained silent for a while. Chanel knew how talking about visiting the place their parents' were buried made Andre uncomfortable. Hell, it made her uncomfortable too. But it had been over five years now, and Chanel knew that it was time for them to pay them a visit.
"Yeah, fine," Andre finally said as he let out a deep breath. "Let's go see them."
YEAR: 3rd year transfer HOMETOWN: Brooklyn, New York DEPT/MAJOR: Theatre Arts | Dance
APPEARANCE
Tyra is a beautiful young woman of Jamaican and St. Lucian descent. She has a slim, statuesque build and seemingly flawless, chocolate-colored skin. Weighing in at a little over one hundred forty pounds and standing at five feet, six inches tall in flats with all the grace and poise of a queen, Tyra probably could have been a model if she wasn't so infatuated with dance. She carries herself elegantly with good posture, long confident strides, and her head held high. Due to this and her love of high heels, she often looks taller than she really is. When it comes to her fashion sense, Tyra has been known to dress to impress (most of the time), and will usually be found rocking some over-the-top blouse/shirt with a pair of jeans, or a form-fitting dress and some heels. She'll accessorize with numerous bracelets, rings, and a chain she inherited from her grandma.
LIKES AND DISLIKES: LIKES:
Dance: Of course, Tyra loves dancing; she's being taking dance lessons since she was three years old. While ballet dance is her favorite style, she's also been trained in hip-hop, jazz, tap, and contemporary. Her deep love for this art form is what led to her eventually majoring in dance when she entered college.
Fashion: Tyra has been into fashion since she was in high school; she loves mixing and matching different articles of clothing to create something unique that also matches her personality. You'll usually see her with her nose deep in some fashion magazine or scrolling through multiple Instagram accounts for inspiration.
Misty Copeland: Unlike most girls who have had posters of celebs such as Justin Timberlake or Beyonce plastered all over their walls, Tyra has had photos of her biggest inspiration (besides her mom) set up around her room since she was a teenager. Tyra aspires to be just like her, if not better, and sees her as a great role model for young black women.
Caribbean Culture: Since she was brought up in a Jamaican and St. Lucian household, Tyra is very close to her roots; She loves anything and everything that reminds her of her family in the Caribbean. She has a large Jamaican flag hanging up on her bedroom wall, can often be found blasting reggae music, and never hesitates to share her home-cooked jerk chicken and fried plantains with anyone who'll try it.
Musicals: Thanks to her mother, Tyra has been obsessed with musicals since before she could even speak.
DISLIKES:
Driving: Tyra never learned how to drive before she moved out of the state to go to college; she had always been so used to just walking, taking the subway or catching a cab whenever she needed to travel longer distances. She does have a license and a car, but hates getting behind the wheel and tries her hardest to avoid doing so.
Social Media: Unlike the majority of the world, Tyra could definitely do without social media. Hell, the only reason she even decided to make a Twitter was so that she could collect memes and stay "in the loop." Despite her large following on Instagram, she only posts once a month.
Early Mornings: If she could, Tyra would sleep all day and stay up all night. She's never been a morning person, preferring to wake up around noon and stay awake until the old reruns of the George Lopez Show stop at around 3 A.M.
Country Music: Tyra loves music; Reggae, Metal, Hip-hop, R&B, Rock... but for some odd reason, the one genre of music that she just can't find herself enjoying at any given moment in time is country.
Her Dad: Ever since her mother passed away, Tyra has felt as though she and her father never see eye-to-eye. They bicker more than ever nowadays, and it's gotten to the point where she doesn't even like coming home for the holidays anymore or calling to see how he's been.
FEARS: Failing her mom, Career-ending injuries, Centipedes... and any bugs that fly. HABITS: Excessive cursing, Hums when focusing, Will often "check out" of conversations that bore her.
PERSONALITY
Tyra's parents knew that their daughter was destined for stardom from the day she was born. Much like her mother, there is a certain confidence in the way that Tyra walks and talks; she has a way of commanding attention the moment she steps foot into a room and making strong first impressions. She has never been one to shy away from any platform or spotlight, and will always speak her mind without hesitation or timidity. This can easily be seen when she's performing in showcases or auditioning for a role in an upcoming production. Also, thanks to her mom's superb parenting skills, Ty has grown to be a very self-reliant and independent young woman. She knows how to deal with things on her own, and rarely calls on the help of her family members or peers.
There are a few downsides to Tyra's persona, the main one being her impulsiveness and carelessness. While being adventurous, Ty also has a history of making decisions without thinking them completely through, which probably should result in her regretting them later on. The thing with Tyra, however, is that she doesn't regret much of anything. In fact, one of the many philosophies she lives by is that there are no regrets in life, just lessons. Therefore, she'll usually apologize if she does someone dirty, but the apology may not always be sincere. Tyra also has a problem with relationship commitment; she feels as though she functions better when she only has to worry about herself. She doesn't ever plan on having kids, and even the idea of marriage is laughable to her.
HISTORY
Tyra Washington was born on New Year's Day in Brooklyn, New York, the third daughter of prima ballerina Lacey Blue and world-renowned brain surgeon Mitchell Washington. The family lived in a moderate sized home on 38th Street along with Lacey's mother and their pet German Shepherd. Life was fairly easy for Tyra: she never had to worry about much besides keeping her grades up in order to please her dad, and improving her dance skills in order to impress her mom. She and her sisters got along fairly well, despite their occasional petty arguments, and everyone seemed to like her enough in grade school. It wasn't until Tyra was thirteen years old that things began to take a turn for the worse.
The dance world grieved for months after news came about of Lacey Blue's untimely passing, but no one hurt more than Tyra did. Even after years had gone by and the rest of her family seemed to "move on," Tyra remained fixated on the past. It was around this time that she and her father began to butt heads; and slowly but surely, he began to turn his own daughters against one another. "Why can't you be more like your older sisters?" her father told her as she was filling out college applications, "Maybe you should stop focusing so much on dancing and start thinking about medical school like Patrice... or law school, like Simone." While Tyra had been the only daughter of Lacey's to inherit her love and tremendous talent for dance, she was also the only daughter to decide against attending an ivy league or, at the very least, her parents' alma mater.
Unhappy with his daughter's decision to attend Howard University on a nearly full ride scholarship, Tyra's father not only cut off all communication with her, but also stopped supporting her financially. Tyra lasted at Howard for two years before cracking under the pressure of having to manage her studies, dancing, extra curriculars, and financials all on her own. She was forced to make an impossible decision: pack her things, leave behind her dance team & sorority sisters, and apply to her father's alma mater. After notifying her father of her acceptance into Oakwood International University, she was welcomed back with open arms; her feelings towards her remaining family members, however, remain unchanged.

Dionne is a beautiful young woman with African roots. She has a slightly curvy build and seemingly flawless, nutmeg-colored skin. She weighs in at a little over one hundred forty pounds and stands at five feet, six inches tall. Dionne carries herself elegantly with good posture, long confident strides, and her head held high. Due to this and her usual wear of high heels, she often looks taller than she really is. Dionne also has a head full of hair that has been loc'ed since she was a toddler; it now reaches her lower back, and is constantly being styled in new ways. When it comes to her fashion sense, Dionne has been known to dress to impress (most of the time), and will usually be found rocking some over-the-top blouse/shirt with a pair of jeans, or a form-fitting dress and some heels. She'll accessorize with gold hair jewelry, numerous bracelets and rings, and a chain she inherited from her grandma.
Dionne is the type of girl who is never afraid to be herself, no matter the circumstances. She's a creative to her very core, and uses her musical talents to express her feelings and work through her problems. Much like her mother, the young woman is very stubborn and blunt; she doesn't like to hold her tongue, and you can always count on her to either tell you things straight like they are or put you in your place and read you to filth when necessary. Although being a little slow to warm up to others, once you're in her good graces, you're pretty much guaranteed a loyal and caring friend.
HOMETOWN: Chicago, IL BIOGRAPHY
Dionne was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the product of an unexpected teen pregnancy. Her parents were just seventeen years old and four months into their relationship when she was conceived, and despite much protest from both sides of their families, they decided against abortion or adoption. Instead, the couple decided to get hitched just two weeks after they'd both turned eighteen. Little did their families know, they would go on to be married for over eighteen years.
Since neither one of her parents attended college, Dionne's father worked days as a construction worker, while her mother worked nights as a bartender. Money was always tight while Dionne was growing up, but her parents always made sure that she had what he needed to survive. Unfortunately for her, this did not include a lot of the things that young girls her age wanted around that time. While her friends would come to school every year with brand new pairs of sneakers and fly outfits, Dionne was stuck wearing the same old stuff she'd been rocking for years. This, as well as her sassy demeanor, resulted in her having to endure a great deal of bullying. Dionne had already developed thick skin, though, so it never really bothered her as much as her tormentors hoped it would. And instead of focusing on the negative aspects of her life, Dionne decided to put her energy into the things that she enjoyed such as art, poetry, and music.
When Dionne finished ninth grade, she'd already gained a bit of a following on social media and in her city thanks to her brief involvement with a band that called themselves Ego Death. It was after this that she decided to become a solo artist rather than just a bass player, which gave her the freedom to blend as many different genres as she liked, as well as write her own lyrics. It was also after this that she found out about LAPA and begged her parents for weeks to let her audition; when she was accepted into the school, Dionne's parents scraped together whatever money they could and made the move to California in support of their child's dream.
