Despite not being able to take Shawna to the dance, Sunshine was actually looking forward to tonight's festivities. From shopping together, to sending each other goofy Snapchat pictures, the last few weeks had given Sunshine and Chanel time to bond again. Was it possible that the King’s Academy administration knew what they were doing? Doubtful. They had just gotten lucky in their case.

Picking up her phone, Sunshine quickly sent a text to Chanel to see how far away she was.

"If that was you who just texted me... don't worry. I'm already here." Chanel's voice suddenly rang through the air as she came bursting through Sunshine's bedroom door, offering the girl a bright smile as she did so. Draped over one of her arms was a garment bag that contained Chanel's dress for the evening, and in her other hand was her makeup bag, a pair of shoes to go with the dress, and flat iron. To tell the truth, Chanel wasn't sure how she'd managed to carry all of her things without dropping them on the way up the stairs; she let out a deep breath as she laid them all down on Sunshine's bed. "Your Aunt let me in... she seems like a nice lady. Anyway, I think I got everything. I was rushing, so I didn't have time to put my wig on or anything. I can't wait to stop looking this rough."

Sunshine couldn’t help but to laugh. ”Rough my ass. You could go to the dance just like that and no one would say anything,” the girl said, paying her friend a compliment.

Getting up from where she sat on the bed, Sunshine grabbed a few things from Chanel so that she wouldn’t end up dropping them. ”Yeah, she’s pretty cool. She and my uncle let me have my privacy, so that’s what counts, right?” After helping Chanel put her stuff down, she made her way to the desk where her laptop sat and turned on her portable speaker. ”Feel free to play some music. My dress is hanging in the closet if you wanna have a look.”

Suddenly letting out an excited squeal, Chanel practically went running towards Sunshine's closet to get a look at her friend's dress; she wasn't disappointed in the slightest at what she saw hanging up. "Yeah, we're definitely gonna be the best looking at this thing. That dress is fire." As Chanel returned to the desk to check out Sunshine’s playlists, she couldn't resist putting on the first song she scrolled past. And it was shortly after then that she took out her own dress from the bag to show to Sunshine. "A Chanel original. What do you think?"

”Dammmmmmmmmn girl. I literally could not have chosen anything better.” Sunshine couldn't help but applaud Chanel on her dress of choice. Their looks for the night only reconfirmed Sunshine's suspicion that they would be the best dressed pair, and she couldn’t be happier. ”So what do you say? Should I go with a smokey eye to make it extra dramatic?”

"Oh yeah, definitely..."

And soon after that, with the music blasting through Sunshine's speaker, the two finally began to get to work. Chanel had immediately started installing her signature half-black, half-orange wig. This took a little longer than it probably should've; Chanel simply blamed it on the songs that played in the background. It was as she'd begun curling her hair that she started using the curling rod to sing along with Scary Spice rather than to do its intended job. She didn't hesitate to hold the iron out to her friend in an effort to get her to join in.

Singing and dancing along to the music with Chanel, Sunshine made sure to get her hair and makeup just right. She wasn’t going to do anything extravagant with her hair tonight, which was a good thing because it appeared that they were running low on time when she looked at the clock. Turning the music down so that she wouldn’t have to shout over it, Sunshine gave her friend a please forgive me look. She hated it when people turned her music down, and tried to not do it to others, but this was a special case.

”Girl I love you, but we better put these dresses on and get going or our asses are going to be late. You know how I feel about being on time.”

After taking a quick glance at the clock herself, Chanel shot her friend an apologetic look as she unplugged the curling iron and hopped onto her feet. "Shit, you're right... sorry!" It was a good thing that she'd done her makeup before coming to Sunshine's house. The young woman made a mental note to work on her time-management skills as she headed back over to the bed and pulled her dress off its hanger. "We should be ready to go in few minutes."

”Don’t worry! We’ll be fine.” Walking to the closet to get her own dress Sunshine pulled the garment out of the bag slowly so as not to rip it. Laying it over the back of the desk chair, the brown haired girl pulled off her tank top before pulling the dress on over her head. Sliding the pajama pants off once the dress was on was the real problem. Nearly tripping over her own feet, Sunshine laughed again as she caught herself from hitting the floor.

It was after stepping into her own dress that Chanel burst into a laughing fit watching her friend struggle to remove her pajama bottoms. "Sunshine, pleaseee don't hurt yourself. The last thing we need is a trip to the hospital before the dance." Chanel said between laughs as she took a seat on the bed and began to slip on her heels. Less than two minutes later, after tucking her things into her purse and taking one final look in the mirror, the young woman was ready to go. "Time to go party."

As usual with family members, Sunshines aunt and uncle wanted to take a few pictures of the girls. Happily obliging, the two of them stood at the foot of the stairs before moving outside. A few goofy faces and fierce poses later, the pair was ready to go.

The ride over to the Country Club was one filled with laughs, jokes, and more great music. It appeared that they had made it on time, along with a few of the other students.

”Are you ready,” Sunshine asked.

“Hell yeah, let’s do this.”

With their arms linked together, the two young women entered the venue, fully prepared for whatever the night would throw at them.

"Aww, well would ya look at this. The gang's all together!"

Ivy's singsong voice rang through the air as she approached the majority of the group with her suitcase in one hand and several bags of groceries wrapped around the other. And as she walked towards the RV, she couldn't help but catch the eye of none other than Katie Callaghan; the two shared a knowing look before Ivy refocused her attention on what was going to be their home for the next few weeks. "Gooood morning, everyone! You know, when AJ said something about an RV, I never woulda pictured something this extravagant. But then again, it's AJ... so I'm not surprised." After parking the suitcase next to the RV and setting the groceries on top, Ivy let out a deep breath and stretched her arms as she took a quick glance at each of her friends.

"Always good to see you, Katie. You too, Sami and Nate. I'm diggin' the outfit, Emi... I really like that leather jacket. Reyna, if NaiNai hadn't stuffed me full with food before leaving Chloe's house, I'd definitely take one of those plates off your hands. Leon... why does it look like you just ran a marathon? Where the hell is your shirt?" Ivy couldn't help but let out a light laugh as she said those last few words and took in Leon's exhausted-looking form. Her tone was mock-serious, but on the inside, she had to admit that she didn't mind seeing Leon's glistening abs first thing in the morning. She didn't mind it at all.

"I'd take these bags in the van if it weren't for what I saw happen a few minutes ago... definitely don't wanna get in between that. Any idea what that's all about?" Of course, Ivy had a sneaking suspicion that Katie's presence might have played some part in Val and AJ's heated conversation; she also felt the slight tension in the air that she had unfortunately caused. But it didn't really bother her as much as it probably should've. After all, her intentions were good when she made the choice to give Katie the details about the trip; all she wanted to do was keep their little family together. And that was all that mattered...

To be honest, Ariel was half expecting Kavan to say no to her suggestion. He had way closer friends than her, but maybe they already had someone else to go with or something. Who knew. Nodding as he spoke, she gave him a small smile.

”Awesome! I’m definitely down to coordinate. I hadn’t picked out anything to wear yet either, but something tells me we might want to avoid red. I feel like a lot of people might be wearing that color, I dunno.” Realizing that she was rambling already, Ariel paused for just a moment to collect her thoughts before speaking again. ”Do you maybe wanna walk to the lunchroom with me? I’m starving.”

"Okay, well that means that red is out of the question, then," Kavan said with a half-smile. "Maybe we should wear black? I feel like not too many people will wear that color. And sure, why not? It's been a while since I've actually eaten lunch in the cafeteria. Hopefully the food is edible."

As the two began their walk towards the cafeteria, Kavan couldn't help but wonder whether or not he should even ask Ariel about how she'd been feeling lately. He wasn't really one to stick his nose in the business of others, especially if it were someone he wasn't particularly close with. But Ariel was one of the Misfits. She was part of his family. And although they didn't interact as much as they did with the others, he still cared about her well being. "So..." Kavan said hesitantly as they walked down the hall. "How have things been going over the last couple of weeks?"

”Black sounds great,” she said, slight enthusiasm peeking through her voice. Shrugging her shoulders, she half smiled at his comment on the cafeteria food. ”I think it’s pizza day, so I don’t think you’ll die.”

While walking down the hall, Ariel was scrambling to try and find a conversation topic. Should she ask how things are with Archer? Or maybe she should try and find out about his latest artistic endeavor? Thankfully Kavan was quicker at coming up with topics of conversation than she was.

”Decent enough,” she lied. ”I’ve been practicing some new dance moves here and there. Picked up a few extra shifts at the diner. It’s kinda cool having so much extra free time, ya know?” Walking into the lunchroom, Ariel took her place in line. ”So what about you? Anything new and exciting in the World of Kavan?”

"Dance moves, huh?" Kavan said with a half-smile as the pair entered the cafeteria. "I look forward to seeing those at the dance. I'm not really much of a uh... dancing kind of guy, so you'll have to teach me your ways."

As Kavan stood in the line, he found himself taking a quick glance around the cafeteria, his eyes searching for the rest of the Misfits, and he couldn't help but wonder who Archer, Marisol and Sonny would end up going with to the dance. "And well, I decided to join the Drama Club a while back, so that's going pretty good I guess. I'm also toying with the idea of telling my parents about Archer and me soon, especially since Prom is right around the corner and... well, we're going together. Not sure I want my 'coming out' to be a big surprise on prom night."

Ariel was paying more attention to the food than anything. She had absent mindedly skipped breakfast this morning, and the growls coming from her stomach were making that very apparent.

”I bet you’d be a great dancer once you learned a move or two. I could have you and Archer waltzing in time for prom,” she said half jokingly. ”How do you think they’ll react? Your parents, I mean? Like I know we aren’t that close but if something doesn’t work out, I’m here to help in any way that I can.”

"Honestly? I'm not too sure," Kavan said as he slid a slice of cheese pizza onto his tray and reached for a bottle of water. "Despite not being as traditional as some of our other relatives... I still don't think they'd like the idea of having a bisexual son. My father, especially. But it has to come out at some point, right? What better of a time to do it than right before I graduate and leave for college? At least I won't have to worry about having to sit through awkward family dinners for too long afterwards." Kavan let out a dry laugh as he said those last few words, and followed Ariel all the way through the line until they were both standing by the exit door with their food in hand.

"But thank you, it really means a lot," Kavan said sincerely as he took another quick glance around the cafeteria. "It's actually a pretty nice day out... I think I'll go and eat in the courtyard. Are you coming with?"

Ariel shook her head. ”Nah… I have some homework and stuff that I need to proofread before I turn it in.” She smiled at him one last time. ”I’ll be sure to text you later with some outfit ideas for the dance though.”

“Ah, okay,” Kavan said with a smile as he nodded and began walking away. “See you then.”
