Word limits are the fucking worst.

Actually, a teacher putting a word or page limit is probably because they only have so much time they can or want to dedicate to their job out of being in class. If things went on too long, it will cut into the time they want to have set aside to do things like be with their family or masturbate. Or both.

So really, I can understand it from that point alone.

Take with a grain of salt. These are just the adjustments I'd make. I've been doing a lot of this, so I'm going to stop. Take these ideas and apply them everywhere, though remember there are no universal rules to writing. Don't write like it's a movie. Don't write like you speak. Don't write like you're in an RPG. Not every noun needs an adjective, and not every verb needs an adverb. Be precise, and use specific words and creative word/modifier pairings that are evocative rather than using them en masse. I'm also very fallible, so again, grain of salt. Keep going :D You can do it.

Actually I generally found those critiques helpful. This was about a day of me sitting down and not going back over any of it. Ever. So knowing what I need to fix by some fresh eyes is good. Although there were some that I didn't agree with fully, I'm going to (and did before dinner) start putting in some changes.

So I wrote like a page last night, and then some more today. I figured I hit a point where I could end a 'chapter' despite it being much (much, much, much) shorter than normal. But I think that's part of the practice? Maybe? I dunno. Maybe the first one was too short.

Input is desired.

Chapter 1 - The Call to Adventure

Gonna start doing a writing exercise

May do it in the form of a spamfic. Or not. In either case, likely going to be putting it up here for you guys to look at regardless.

What is the exercise?

Going to try to write some each day. And not even just about something that excites me. I've got no drive, no intense passion to write anything. I feel like I've hit a wall even, including with regards to RPs I'm in / running.

So, I'm going to just... force myself to write, while also having to follow fours rules to counteract four things I feel I do that are largely responsible for my dead muses

Rule 1- I can't plan more than a 'chapter' ahead.
I often get too involved in my plots that I don't write story, I just create bullshit that I'll have to write later. So, I'm going to try to limit that.

Rule 2- I can't write long chapters
Not sure if related, but I feel my chapters are too long, and while I don't really have a problem of content vs length, like... it's not too prosy. But I want it to be easier to digest for anyone who decides to read it (See: hopefully some of you lot)

Rule 3- I can't delete more than a paragraph at a time
I have this issue where in the first draft, if I'm not satisfied, I'll delete sometimes even several pages, and rewrite it. Again. And again. For what still is only 'first draft' quality stuff. So, not allowed to do that too much either.

Rule 4- Unless I'm too physically sick to write, I've got to write at least some every day.
The big one. Even if I'm not in the mood, I'm going to force myself to keep writing and just grind my fingers against the writer's block. So this means if I'm healthy enough to kid around in Minecraft or talk on Skype? I'm healthy enough to write.


And that's it. I don't know what I'm going to produce. I don't promise it's going to be good or fun or long. I don't promise shit. I'm probably not going to do this for very long. Maybe a month if we're lucky, more likely I'll be done in a week. But I want to see how far I can push this effort. Who knows, maybe it'll be good for me.

So yeah. Please be excited for what will inevitably be a let down for us all.

One thing about the Spam fics is there isn't much romance, barring Bella's tryst with Awson and her love of Toellner in Jorick's first story. There might be others I missed but that's the most obvious. Better hope I never write one of these things.

Hey, there was some romance in Smiral's Mythical Adventures or w/e it was called. Smiral and RPG101. They slept in the same bed together, hung out, did cool things with each other, and got super high with one another.

-If you were in charge of a ship or a fleet in a space battle, what strategies would you use?
Ships and fleets are ineffectual. Larger weapons platforms, more reliable defence, more reliable fuel and such can be gained by planetary and orbital platforms.

Therefore, ships are primarily for stealth, speed, transport, salvage, and research. Minimal to no weapons. Non-aggressive, focus on a defence that cannot be stopped. The biggest guns your capital ships can bring are nothing compared to the guns of the planets and moons, both in size, number, and how easy it is to keep them up and firing. A well maintained long range scanning system in place as well.

If aggression is necessary, then we aim to the stars and fire from home.

If it were most anyone else, I'd accuse them of putting me as the #1 just to make me feel better, specially if they're a friend and know what I'm going through currently.

But you're a fucking asshole (no offence) so you ranking me higher I feel as if I can trust is more genuine because I don't think you'd let that influence your behaviour as much.

What are your top 10 favorite movies?

My list is... very different than Jorick's. But so are my tastes, so, yeah.

01 - Ink

Why?

This was actually tough. It was back and forth between Ink and Big Fish for my favourite movie. I'm still not satisfied with my choice. I love both of them. I think they're both great. Fuck, even as I write this I wonder if I should switch them. They're different, and interesting, and just so goddamned enjoyable. I'm going to give Ink the edge, but boy is it a slim edge. This movie was a great romp of souls and good and evil and wow. And I fucking love the designs in this.

02 - Big Fish

Why?

While Ink and Big Fish are my top two, they're here for different reasons. They're very different films, after all. Where Ink was a fantastic journey through the soul, Big Fish was more a story about stories. And I fucking love stories. This movie is just good in all the right ways. Not perfect, as if it was, it'd not be number 2, eh? But still. Don't expect as much depth from me as from Jorick.

03 - Hot Fuzz

Why?

This movie is a double layered satirical take on action films, and a fucking great comedy on top of that. The double mystery and plot is amazing, the by the book nature, the hyping up non hype things, the big battle that doesn't look like it kills anyone because they're all there getting processed just ugh it's so good.

04 - The Mummy

Why?

This movie is dumb. But it's that special, endearing to me, gods I love this stupid movie unironically dumb. It's a stupid action flick, with dumb comedy, and obvious love interests, but man oh man do I just love it anyway.

05 - Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind

Why?

I'll admit it, I was late to the Ghibli train and regret it. I saw Ponyo because of my girlfriend at the time, and was like "Oh this is great" but... this movie? This movie was different. It was great, but it wasn't just candy. It was a movie meal, and in a great flavour. Loved it. Would suggest it to others.

06 - Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan

Why?

I enjoy Star Trek. I'm not a huge Trekkie like others, but it's an interesting world that I have fun with. And this? This was the most fun and cool epic wonder (Despite some flaws and continuity issues) in a movie from the series.

07 - The Lego Movie

Why?

Can a movie so new be on a list like this? Well, apparently. I did put it here. The movie was fun. That sums it up. It was super, duper, super amazing fun. Even though there's a couple things that could have changed to make it even better (or at least, higher on my list) it did far better than I was expecting even AFTER the hype train got rolling for it.

08 - Marley & Me AND Hachi: A Dog's Tale

Why?

Because FUCK YOU, that's why. If you know anything about the two films here, then you know what they are, and why I enjoy them, EVEN IF THEY MAKE ME CRY LIKE A BITCH and wanna hug my dogs forever and ever. Even Futurama's version of the true story that Hachi's based on is able to make me cry too. Just, dogs man. Fucking dogs. Which is why they're both here, but tied. Because they're both cheating. Cheating bastards.

09 - My Fair Lady

Why?

Originally was going to put the Sound of Music around here, but... while I do love that movie, and nuns battling Nazis is pretty hype, well... I think I enjoy My Fair Lady more. Even if I don't agree with all the morals in it, it's just a fun movie for me.

10 - The Sound of Music

Why?

And yet it got on the list anyway. It beat out Gangs of New York, which was my number ten prior. It's a great fucking movie. Great musical. Great music. Great story. Fuck you, Nazis.
