Shintaro let out a bit of a sigh to the girl's cynical response, she seemed a bit down. Well after all, the last thing they all remembered was their own deaths, so he understood why she could feel that way. Within a short second, the guardian spoke up to them all and proposed that they could pick out their quarters if they wished it. Shintaro rubbed his hands together excitedly and peered at all the different rooms.

They weren't over the top fancy, but they were better than the homes he used to live in, that was for sure. Most people had already claimed their rooms, so Shintaro went for whichever one was open. He gazed around the room and was pretty satisfied with the setup that the Goddess had given them, but maybe later he'd try to see if he could give it some more décor to make it feel homier. He wasn't sure what to add, though, so the room was satisfactory for him right now. He also didn't feel particularly tired at the moment, so he figured he might try to find something else to do. Maybe look around, look at the beautiful Goddess again, maybe do something else...Shintaro didn't really know what his plans were for the day.

As soon as Shintaro opened his door back up, he stood in the hallway for a moment before noticing one of the guardians run out of her room naked. He tried not to laugh, but thankfully she didn't seem like she was frightened or anything when she ran out of the room. In fact she seemed kind of happy, like she didn't realize that she was naked until she saw everyone gawk at her. Shintaro averted his eyes up at the stone walls, pretending as if he was talking to someone. Maybe someone heard him. “The masonry here is quite nice. Back home we didn't make walls like this...back at home...this is quite the presentation...” He tapped his finger against the hallway wall, trying to look occupied until the girl made it back to wherever she was going.
YIKES SORRY FOR THE HOLD UP...my post ended up pretty long too lmao
hope everyone's still interested in this! ;w;
Shintaro's soul was weak, resting on the ground and extremely close to death. When the samurai were through with him, they no longer had an interest in the burned down village, and most villagers had already taken the initiative to run away. His body was numbing away slowly, half wondering if taking a quick sleep would let him renew the last bit of energy he had left. Then again, who was he kidding? He was a goner. He tried to accept death as quickly as he could, considering he didn't have much time left. Shintaro let himself think back to his last deed and hoped that most of the villagers were alright. He hoped the samurai had left this place and hoped they wouldn't have to take advantage of another village again, though it was a hopeful thought. All in all, he did what he could do, and that was all that mattered to him, not that it really mattered at all.

In his last moments of blurry vision and foggy hearing, he felt himself being lifted up and faintly felt something being wrapped around him. Finally, everything came to an end and went dark for him. He had passed away.

And then, alarmingly, his senses came back all at once. Shintaro raced to pull himself out of a pool of water and shivered while on the ground. It was nighttime, and for some reason he was thrown into a lake of some sort. He looked around to see the moon, but gave it a second glance after noticing that it was so huge. That didn't feel right...

“I'm in...” Shintaro mumbled, realizing that he didn't feel in pain and his wounds had seemed to have healed. There couldn't possibly be any place on earth that looked like where he was now. He noticed five unfamiliar people who's garments were of different nations. Was this some sort of afterlife?

“Welcome, pure ones.”

Shintaro and the others directed their attention to a woman in front of them, explaining something about pure souls and auras. There was another beautiful woman beside her, who looked as heavenly as she could be, who was introduced as the Goddess and the keeper of the moon. From what the guardian had explained, they were pure souls who were chosen to become guardians themselves. It seemed like an incredible honor. Shintaro wondered if he was truly fit for such a thing, he felt so out of place, but at the same time he felt a warming, positive energy within him. He was very happy.

One person stepped up to take the oath first, and by then Shintaro had completely sorted out his thoughts. Shintaro stepped up, and in the most modest way he could, he knelt before the Goddess and repeated the oath.

“Through bow or blade, through shield or fist, I vow to protect my Lady Goddess. Through blood and soul, through mind and heart, I vow to m' Lady, to do my part.”

He took a good look at the guardian and the Goddess and smiled. He turned to the Healing Falls to coat his weapon in the water. He looked at his spear and felt a bit nostalgic, and for once he'd actually use his weapon in an honorable way. Upon completion, he gazed into the water deeply, letting his thoughts run free.

For once in his life, Shintaro really felt like he was complete. That was how he felt, after all – he had always wanted to be a protector. A mix of guilt tainted his emotion, though, after realizing that he wasn't such a pure person. Would he be able to change that, or would he have to fight himself from now on?

Shintaro tried not to think about it, so he sighed looked up, trying not to stare into the water for too long. He noticed the young woman who first took her oath not so far from him, and decided to strike a conversation. After all, many of them would be guardians together, so they might as well get to know each other now.

“It's very wonderful to see so many different people, isn't it? This is a place like no other.”

He smiled at the girl and looked back towards the big moon. This afterlife was certainly something else, he almost felt too guilty to be a part of it.
Maximiliano

Tally was going to recommend some great meditation tips when she suddenly was interrupted by another co-worker. It was Sadie, a peppy young lady who Max didn't know much about, but sometimes she seemed to be a bit nervous. She started going on about flowers, but then looked like she was backing out of the conversation suddenly. He was sure the meditation talk with Tally wasn't going to come back up again, but it was alright, Max was too embarrassed to try something like crossing his legs and clasping his hands and chanting – he just wasn't that kind of guy.

Max smiled and agreed with Tally. “It's very true, flowers are natures most wonderful blessings. Which flowers are your favorite, Miss Sadie?”

Jeffrey

What. The. Freaking hell? Jeffrey wasn't sure how to respond, especially since he'd never been hit on by a guy before, because you know, he never hung out with the likes of gay guys. With a deep inhale he looked around cautiously hoping no one would see them, because you know he totally didn't swing that way. Of course maybe if Milo was a girl he'd consider, and he'd like to think Milo would look something like Lulu as a woman, and of course Asian women were pretty hot.

Much to his demise, one of the young and good looking co-workers, Sadie, was coming through the aisles and looked their direction. She seemed to catch on to that “How's your butthole hanging” remark and Jeffrey just wanted to DIE. He clenched his teeth and turned around to face his admirer.

“I think you have me mistaken for someone else, like, I don't know, someone who actually swings that way. Because I don't. I don't swing that way.”

He tried to sound as loud as possible, but it looked like nobody was really around anymore. Great.

Owen

Owen was surprised to find his magazine stolen right from his own hands, right when he was learning about internet subculture. It was answering his questions about what his son meant when he wouldn't stop saying “you mad bro?” a couple months ago, that was for sure. Owen's mouth hung open when he saw Lulu, who was much younger than him and hardly really associated with him. “Is there...something you want?” He began mumbling, but she had already turned around and threw his magazine in the trash. Uh, did he offend her in some kind of way? Owen was confused, but tried listening to her explanation about retro and mainstream “shit”, but he still didn't get it. Getting in touch with the hip and cool things might have been a lot harder than he thought.

“Did you....piss on yourself? That's so....nonconformist.”

Owen immediately got up from the couch and tensed up.

“I...I um...I didn't...”

He didn't want to stop and think about what nonconformist meant, but at the current moment in time he just felt really attacked and her tone didn't sound too welcoming.

"That wasn't...too nice of you...!"

Owen got a bit too emotional and teared up, turning around and running out of the lounge. He couldn't believe he just got bullied by someone young like that. It wasn't his fault he wasn't cool, but he at least tried to be.

On the way down the halls, he slowed down after noticing Johnathan and Azeti talking about something serious. And Johnathan was sure looking angry, even poking the guys chest and calling him a pansy. He wanted to go around them, but they were in the middle of the hallway. Besides he didn't want them to notice his tears. He turned around and looked at a framed painting on the wall, pretending he wasn’t there.
Okie dokie, it's fixed! ^_^ *tips m'hat*
Shintaro

Age: 32 (1808-1840)
Weapon of Choice: Spear or Katana
Personality:
Shintaro is a fun loving man bubbling with creativity and imagination. For some, it's very hard to take him seriously, but when someone manages to cross him, he is ruthless. He has a tendency to be a bit reckless and a complete daredevil. Shintaro always loves taking advantage of a good opportunity to crack a joke, and warming up the hearts of others. He's a little childish, but noble at heart, and has a passion for justice.

Place of Origin:
Kyoto, Japan

History:
Born to a family of modest farmers, Shintaro grew up to find his home life uninteresting. He was the second eldest of four other children, and thankfully didn't have to work as hard as he probably could have as an only child. As he became of age, he decided he didn't want to live on the farm like the rest of his siblings, so he departed to explore the lands beyond. With little money as he reached the capital city, he found it incredibly difficult to live and preformed as many odd jobs as he could. It was then he became fascinated with the samurai as a dream status he could never live to be a part of. Eventually, Shintaro moved around to villages and made a living as a con artist. Most of the time, he'd pretend to be all sorts of people in order to earn a few bucks or a bed for the night, but his favorite persona was a samurai on an “important military mission.” Through the years he'd help many gullible people out, but mostly just gain some unwanted enemies up until the day he died. Shintaro's life ended as he came across a very small village, where he saw defenseless peasants being threatened by samurai from the capital. Shintaro came to defend them, but nobody gave him aide as the samurai laughed in his face. He was okay with that. He fought the officers up until the bitter end, but was thankful the families were able to get away. He had wondered if leaving his homeland many years ago was a mistake, but realized that it could have only been fate. Though he was not a true samurai, he had aided people as much as he could, and that was all that mattered...

Shintaro was utterly shocked that he had even made it to some kind of afterlife, but couldn't wrap his head around being chosen to be a guardian for a Goddess! For ages, he had low confidence of being a guardian to a deity, due to his sins in his past life. He's a bit unsure, but feels like the Goddess has given him a second chance at life and does not wish to disappoint her.

Quote: “I promise you, M'lady of the moon, that I won't need to be a swindler as long as I'm by your side.”
Things were beginning to blur and wobble for Matt – he had never really been this tipsy before. Everything was kind of a blur, but he always managed to keep laughing as if he knew what Daemon was even talking about, since he was just as wasted as Matt was. He could of sworn he said something about his dad, but he wasn't sure. Hadrian started yelling at him, and then it was starting to get a little serious. Apparently there was something about his dad, but as he tried to contemplate it, his brain became absent again.

“Ah man don't worry about it guys...this is supposed to be a party, why we gotta be all serious and crap?” Matt waved his hands and tried to get up from the couch, but ended up tripping and falling back on it, leaning over on Daemon.

“On second thought – I'm really tired...”

Matt mumbled and heard Hadrian's voice in the distance, but felt like he was paralyzed. His body slumped down more, and before he knew it, Matt was out cold.
Maximiliano

Max set his briefcase neatly on the side of his desk, in a perfect 90 degree angle. He was careful not to scratch or scuff the leather. He looked through his planner for a bit and noticed there wasn't anything he needed to tend to immediately, so he got up and decided he was going to make himself coffee in the lounge room. On his way there he said hello to the workers that had already arrived. He looked at Tally especially and took a brief stop. After all, there was no rush to get coffee.

“I love the incense, they're very relaxing. It almost smells like a flower we had back in my home country. Grew so plentiful by my Nana's garden...it was called...” He paused and smiled and waved his hand. No name came to mind. “It's been such a long time, buried in the back of my mind somewhere.”

Jeffrey

When Jeffrey booted up his computer he was immediately reminded, yet again, that he couldn't get to reddit and his favorite community forum from the office. He sat in his chair angrily and crossed his arms. To make matters worse, he looked at Taleitha when he came in, and smiled, well at least tried to, and she just ignored him. Jeff scavenged deep in his bag he used in high school and pulled out his trusted fedora. He put it on and pulled it over his head as he logged in. So much for being a nice guy. He glanced over at where Taleitha sat and saw her talking with Max million or whatever the hell his name was. Oh that's right, girls only like bad guys. Sure, he seemed really nice or whatever but he wasn't a real gentleman. Jeff didn't want to even try asking her out because he knew he was going to get friendzoned anyway. He let out an irritated groan as he pressed rather aggressively on the keyboard.

Owen

Owen washed cool water over his face and stared into the mirror. He had just gotten to work thirty minutes ago and already spilled some coffee on his pants. Not cool at all, Owen, not cool at all. Even though they were dark brown, it still looked like he peed himself. He took a towel and started wiping at the area vigorously until the towel started shredding. “Gosh...danggit!” He hesitantly growled under his breath.

Owen got out of the bathroom and decided to go back to the lounge. Thankfully nobody grabbed his drink while he was gone. He took a seat and flipped through a hip magazine. Well, it was issued in 2011...but it was the best he could do right now. There had to be some valuable information he could gain from it.

"Best selling apps...angry birds and words with friends. It's all the rage..." Owen stroked his chin. "I wonder if it's for the PC. Hope it doesn't give me a virus..."
