Avani was the first in the spirit world, with Mio shortly after and Ryuu too eventually. Kasai and the other team showed up as well, which almost resulted in a comment about how she was surprised they hadn’t run home like chickens. Her own embarrassment was fresh in her memory though, and she doubted Kasai would remain quiet if she said something. Avani would have to repay Mio in time, by coming up with some kind of fitting revenge for what she’d done and said. “You too, Lady Sergeant.” Avani said with a smile, when Kasai acknowledged that they were even around. The way that Avani smiled when Kasai wished them good luck and showed them a new kind of respect, made Ryuu realize that Mio might be right. Heh, he could help Avani as well once they were done with their mission and back home safely. He’d never thought of Avani being that way, but if she was truly this awful at flirting it would explain why he never picked it up. No, he honestly thought it was likelier she disliked team b. Maybe it was more complicated. Neither he nor Avani had any reason to respect or like members of the police. Avani rolled her eyes at the guy though when they had left. “Oh too bad, I came here with a deathwish seeking adventure, but now I better be careful instead.” Once more team b was talking to them like they were children, but he did forget one important aspect with the radios. “Not to be the one to crap on his suggestion, but we are no longer in republic city. We have no idea where we are exactly, so who is to say the radios will even work here?” She snatched the radio out of Ryuu’s pocket to check if it was still working. Avani switched it to headquarters’ channel and only received static as expected. Next she turned it to team b’s channel. It seemed to be working, no audible change from before in the spirit forest. “Testing. Kasai is a tool.” She grinned. “I repeat, Kasai is a tool. Copy?” She thought she could hear their radio crackle to life with what she’d just said, so at least there was that. “Well, I guess we still got team b for support then, but I bet they are going to need us more than we need them.” She put the radio back in Ryuu’s pocket. “Just like before. I don’t know if that would count as support for us.” They began to follow behind team b, since they were both heading in the same direction anyway and if some kind of enemy was here it would be likelier to attack those walking in the front. Then Avani could come to Kasai’s rescue again and rub it in her face. Besides, if team b couldn’t be their support they could be their bait. The area was beautiful even with the visible corruption in the distance, Avani thought, and she wondered how large this world was. It appeared massive from what she could already see. The horizon was far away when she turned her gaze behind them, past the portal. “I wish we could have come here under different circumstances.” Avani said to her team. “Who knows what we could find here if we weren’t under orders from Republic City…” “I’m not sure I would have wanted too, to be honest.” Ryuu replied. “I like danger when I know I can handle it, but spirits and a whole other world? I don’t know.” “I’d be up for it, Avani.” Mio said. “But if it’s true that airbenders can meditate and enter this world, maybe I wouldn’t need too. I’d do it with you though.” She tried to repair the rift she’d doubtlessly caused earlier. Avani didn’t reply, no surprise there.
Sweet, thanks. I feel like these ratings might just make me comment less, heh.
“What if she’s too chicken to enter? What if she forgets she couldn’t survive for long without me, because I got all the food?” Avani said and stepped up behind team b. “I was wondering when you’d show up, Kasai.” As entertaining as it might be for the guys to watch their two female leaders focus on arguing with each other, it was beginning to annoy Mio. There weren’t two people here. There were two teams lead by two large egos apparently. “You do realize there’s more than one person on the other team, boss?” Mio muttered. “Besides, it seems petty to put them all in danger over your rivalry.” Mio threw one of the bags of food she’d been dragging around through the forest at the feet of the other team. “I’m not carrying that anymore.” The airbender walked over to the crater, and began to air-jump down the side of it to reach the spirit portal. “When we get back from this excursion into the spirit world, I can introduce you to another female earthbender.” Ryuu let out a long whistle, as if he was both impressed and surprised by Mio’s sudden outburst. He was, but he still kind of saw it coming. He’d expected her to do it when they were alone though. This had embarrassed Avani. He doubted she’d react calmly and rationally to it, no matter what the intention or the anger behind it was. When he looked at Avani, she seemed unsure of how to respond. “Let’s go, Ava.” Ryuu said, nodded to the other team and then followed Mio. “Well, I…” Avani was drawing a blank. She figured she may have treated Mio unfairly by leaving her out of the last fight cause of her own personal rivalry, and because she’d let the airbender carry most of their belongings while she bragged about how she was the most physically fit. She bent down and was about to pick up the bag that Mio had thrown away, when she noticed it was lying right at Kasai’s feet. Avani stopped herself, because she didn’t want to create an even more awkward situation for herself. In her head, she saw it ending up with the two of them fighting over it, more harsh words, blows exchanged and touching. Avani straightened her back, blushed and looked at team b, but never directly at Kasai. “I guess it’s your lucky day, Lady Sergeant.” She created another rock and was soon surfing down the walls of the crater. “I’ve heard stories about the spirit portals.” She said when she reached Mio and Ryuu who’d arrived at it first, pretending like nothing had happened. “It’s the gateway to the spirit world, filled with undocumented wonders. According to some stories airbenders could enter it by meditating, but if you want to bend inside you have to enter it in the flesh. If I remember correctly anyway.” Avani was excited now. She’d actually get to enter the spirit world and explore it, for the first time in her life, but hopefully not the last. “I suppose if it’s throwing out dark spirits something must have been corrupted within, but I don’t think we need to worry about entering it. We probably defeated the group guarding the entrance earlier, or there should be some on this side still.” She put her hand through the portal after a moment of brief hesitation, and then pulled it back out unharmed. “I’ve always wanted to do this.” She said to herself, then stepped through the spirit portal and disappeared. Ryuu and Mio looked at each other, before Mio followed her boss into the spirit world. As a firebender with little knowledge about spirits or any advantages in the area like an airbender, he felt a bit overwhelmed at the thought of entering an entirely different world, but he couldn’t leave his friends in case they’d need him. He took a deep breath and followed them.
Name: Claire Dunn Age: 24 Appearance: Profession: Lion tamer Bio: Claire was abandoned on the doorstep of an orphanage at a young age, but ended up running away with a friend of hers when she was 8, because she hated living there. The two joined the circus who'd arrived in town and was allowed to travel with the circus as long as they made themselves useful. Claire was amazed by all the animals at the circus, but especially the lions and the tigers. She became the apprentice of the current lion tamer and learned everything from him. In time, he left the circus to settle down and start a family, by then Claire had to take over as the circus' lion tamer. She's got some horrifying scars on her arms and legs, but that was from when she was careless and inexperienced. She smells like one of the big cats herself most of the time, and she's recognized as one of them by now. Name: Elena Dragomirov Age: 47 Appearance: Profession: Circus director/Magician Bio: Elena is russian and took over the circus about ten years ago. She used to be the circus magician before that. There's not a lot more known about her. There's rumours that her magic is more than just tricks and illusions. Name: Solomon Age: 6 Appearance:
Started. It means good morning, and I won't have her speak it a lot, cause I don't really know Russian myself haha. ;P
Claire had only meant to take a quick nap where no one would find her, but as she woke up she realized it was early morning. The sky was turning light grey outside of the cage, and through the bars she could see the movements of shadows and silhouettes. The workers of the circus must be up early to prepare for the first show tonight. They’d arrived outside of London yesterday afternoon, and there had been a lot of work for everyone, like it always was when they arrived in a large city. She ran her hand through her mess of a hair, picking a few straws of hay out of it. It was easy to sleep in Solomon’s cage, since he enjoyed the company and got more hay to sleep on than her other cats. He was rather rare as a white tiger, so he was treated as a king by most. “Oh bother, why did I wake up this early…” Claire mumbled to herself, rolled over on her side to try and find a more comfortable position to sleep in. She came face to face with the white tiger in the cage. He observed her for a moment, then opened his mouth and yawned. Claire pushed his mouth away from her when she felt the stench of his morning breath. “What did you eat kid, you stink.” Claire laughed, and petted his back. He leaned into her and purred loudly. The circus had bought Solomon when he was just a small cub. He’d likely been taken from his family in the wild by hunters or poachers. He’d been scared at first, often crying out in the middle of the night for someone who would never be there for him again. Claire had recognized herself in him, and as she was the lion tamer she’d let him stay with her in her wagon. In time, he got too big to live with her though, so he moved to his own cage. He didn’t like it much at first. He became anxious when Claire wasn’t around. She was the only one who he thought of as family, so she’d visited him as much as possible until he got used to life with the circus. Claire loved all of her big cats. The lions, the tigers and the panther, but Solomon was special because he was her little kid whom she’d raised. He was as large as any of the others now, but she still thought of him like that. She considered getting out of the cage before someone did find her, but the thought soon passed when she fell asleep again. Elena Dragomirov was the proud manager of the Wanderlust Circus. One of the biggest traveling circuses anyone had heard of. She usually woke up early to prepare for the night’s performance, but today she’d barely been able to sleep. Once she noticed that night was turning into day she put the book that had disturbed her sleep down on the desk in front of her, and sighed. It was time to make sure everyone else was doing what they were supposed to be doing, whether they wanted too or not. Some were late sleepers and some were just plain lazy, but she couldn’t have that on a first day performance in a city like London. That simply would not do, not for her circus. She had a reputation to uphold, so she got dressed in something warm, made and ate breakfast alone, then stepped outside to deal with whatever problems had already reared their ugly heads. “Dobroe utro.” She shouted loudly to no one in particular. It was a kind of alarm, and something she said every morning. Anyone who dared to sleep past the initial warning that their boss was awake might come to regret it.
Avani gritted her teeth and did consider turning around just to respond to the cop once more. Ryuu stopped her by putting his hand on her back and pushing her in the direction of the forest. They probably would have been sitting in that clearing for the rest of the day if she had continued the argument with Kasai at that moment. Instead, they met up with Mio who had apparently followed them, but hid in the forest with the food. “I suppose we know what direction to go now, so we should just try to get there before team b.” Avani said, and took her own bag again. “No time to waste.” Ryuu took his bag from Mio as well, and then they were off on a small jog to keep up with their leader’s pace. They did get a moment of peace and silence. Team b didn’t call them, and Avani was too busy making sure she got a good amount of exercise after what Kasai had told her. “Can we take a breather, boss?” Mio asked, trying to catch her breath. Avani kept her pace though. It wasn’t until Ryuu spoke up that she stopped and slowed down. “Avani, come on. She’s just another loudmouth.” “Fine! Five minutes, and we can walk the rest since I doubt the other team moved faster than at a walking pace.” Avani sat down, pulled the radio back out of her pocket and played with it while thinking about something new to say to annoy Kasai. A part of her didn’t feel like it anymore though. She didn’t want to continue fighting with someone who couldn’t take a joke, turned mean and threatening without much provocation. “I bet…” Avani said into the radio after she’d pushed the button. “Oh for crying out loud.” Ryuu muttered, then walked over to Avani to take the radio away from her if she couldn’t stop playing with fire. Avani hindered Ryuu from advancing to close by shifting the earth, and sending a rock wall towards him that he had to dodge. “I bet she’s only into older fat men like those in the police, so she can’t appreciate beauty when she sees it.” Avani had to dodge an incoming fireball to her surprise. Mio used her air bending to stop the flame from starting a wild fire. “Shame, since she’s cute when she huffs and puffs trying to seem threatening.” Avani laughed loudly into the radio, but it was quite clearly faked and forced laughter. She threw the radio to Ryuu who catched it. “There, I’m done. No more with this one… for now.” Avani mumbled the last part, hoping her team members wouldn’t hear her, but she still got a sour look from Ryuu who pushed the radio into his own pocket. “I said nothing.” It didn’t take much longer for Avani and her team to arrive at what had to be the center of the forest. She could feel a stronger presence of something here. It had to be spirits, right? They couldn’t see anything yet, but judging by Mio’s and Ryuu’s sudden caution she wasn’t the only one who felt it. “I’d say we found the location of our source of trouble.” Mio said, presumably she was able to feel the spirits in a different way than Avani and Ryuu since she was an airbender. Avani wasn’t sure what it was like. Ryuu had tried explaining what being a firebender was like once, but she’d barely understood that. “Probably.” Ryuu said, and lit a cigarette. Avani didn’t want to waste another moment, so she stepped forward and was about to keep on walking, when she noticed something a bright light coming from in between some of the trees.
It's fine, don't worry.
