Jean kept an eye out for any shadows in the distance as the two SHELLs and their passengers made their way toward the east. He caught a flicker of shadow out of the corner of his eye but when he looked there was nothing there. "Guys, don't panic or anything but I think we're being followed. Keep going and keep your eyes peeled for any movement." Jean said as he looked around and saw something peek over one of the dunes before ducking back down and, he assumed, continued its walk along beside them. "Yeah, they're over there." He said and pointed to where he saw the shadow. "I can't be sure, but I think that lizard dog from earlier is following us and trying to keep out of sight. Either that or some colonists spotted us and aren't sure who we are."
I think I'll wait a little while longer for someone new but I've already invited some people and they turned me down so I'm not going to get my hopes up. If nobody joins in the next day, 2 max, I'll just start with the three of us and anyone that might want to join later can just wander across our little group in the Dead Zone.
Hey there everyone, I wanted to apologize for the RP moving so slowly. I want to keep things moving along but I don't want anyone to be left out so I try to make one plot related post each day to keep things moving. It's a slower pace than some us might be used to but not everyone is online at the same time, so there isn't a whole lot I can do about it without someone getting left behind.

I can't really do anything about the slow pacing of the plot but I can say that you guys are free to chat with each others characters in the IC between my plot related posts as long as there isn't any speed posting going on that would make people start feeling lost or overwhelmed when they sign in. I know that too little structure can send an IC off the rails which will cause it to die but I also know that too much structure, which how this RP feels to me right now, will make people feel like they can't express themselves within the RP which will also cause it to die so I'm looking to find a nice middle ground where we can all express ourselves the way we want to without getting too far off track. So just keep in mind that the RP is free-roam, especially once we're in the game, and as long as there isn't any speed posting going on and we all cooperate on the plot this RP, I hope, will be a great one that may find itself being completed someday.
The elevator ride was short, they only went down a few floors and when the elevator doors opened they were in a large, concrete room with very little furnishing. The fluorescent lights gave everything a sickly glow and, this far down, there were no windows to let in the sunlight. In the center of the room were several large chairs connected to one another by thick wires, monitors lined one of the walls, monitored by a group of men in lab coats who looked like scientists, they seemed to ignore the testers and kept shouting numbers and equations at each other over the hum of the large cooling fans.

"That's a game system? It's just a chair, how are we supposed to play a game on that? There's no screen." Dan asked as David crossed the room and layed a hand on the new Animus model, stroking the padded surface as if it were his baby.

"These," He said, taking his hand off the chair and motioning widely to the whole row of machines and monitors, "is the next generation of gaming. No monitors, no speakers, just you, the chair and your mind." David smiled widely, a slightly off putting face that reminded Dan of a mad scientist's smile straight out of an old horror movie. "You just sit in it and swing that little dome there at the top around to the front to block out the outside world and it transmits a short range electromagnetic field on the same frequency as the human brain. This allows it to show you images without a monitor, play sounds without a speaker. It is not just the next generation in gaming but in audio visual technology and you are the very first to test it. Come on, all of you, have a seat and tell us how it feels. We tried to make them as comfortable as possible and want an outsider's opinion."

Dan crossed the room to one of the chairs and sat down in it, setting his head in the headrest like David had said. There was a slight buzzing sound in his ears but it was comfortable, amazingly so. He could sleep in this chair. "It's great, I could live in this thing for the rest of my life." This statement prompted another creepy smile from David but this time he didn't say anything.
Nobody else is going to post anything? All right, I'll take us down to the basement and get things set up for the game.
He's accepted! Just don't poke me with anything sharp or I'll sic Officer on you >.>

Also, I think three people is enough to start right? Or should we wait for one more?
Yeah, that'll be fine. Broken equipment doesn't need to be approved as long as it can't be fixed and then used for some ridiculously powerful or plot altering purpose.
RA can be described as shenanigans on an intergalactic scale once you get farther into it. The RP will probably be quite a bit darker but it'll have its funny moments. I wasn't really planning on Duke being Officer's superior, I was mostly just showcasing Duke's level of insanity when mannequins/skeletons/advertisements with people in them are present. Any inanimate object that resembles a human will talk to him or be human in Duke's mind. This may or may not involve hitting on, starting fights with or otherwise confronting mannequins, skeletons or ads.
Welcome to the land of Kajhetbarogurenbugh! You shall be my chief of police. I already had a chief of police but he is a drunk and won't stop ranting about how Maria left him.

*Duke stares at a headless mannequin with a paper star taped to its chest and an empty bottle glued to its hand for a moment*

Yes John, I know, it was Maria's loss. See what I mean? He's a lost cause.
Despite that little tangent my character will actually be relatively normal once you get him away from the mannequins and into the Dead Zone. The only thing that will show his insanity is the fact that he will probably start writing fake letters to his fake wife who he will probably leave in charge of his fake nation while he's away "expanding the territory" and if you have read the comics, yes, my character is based a little bit on the Captain, but not totally. He's a lot less crazy than Captain and less prone to random unnecessary plots.
Jean held out his hand to stop Crystal. "Don't shoot. The intel from the colonists said that these things aren't aggressive unless they're threatened, it'll keep its distance unless its hungry, but if we shoot it and there are more on the other side of that dune they'll come for us." He put his hand down and watched the reptile on the dune for a moment before deciding the thing probably wasn't hungry. "Come on," he said and turned his SHELL toward the east, beginning the long walk that would take them to the colony.

The lizard dog on the dune watched as the group began to move away from their ship and walked along the dunes, keeping them in sight but staying far enough that they wouldn't be able to kill it. It was hungry and these things were leaving their mother, they were good prey.
