Nation of Origin: "I'm Thao, but I left Thaos' main city, due to their "new" ways. I still honor the ways and weapons of my ancestors, so I keep my sword, but the country is very slowly falling apart. But wait, there's more. You should have guessed that the corrupt child who is the ruler of the nation would be part of it. I admire her right hand, Zhong Xin Dao, as I believe he is a worthy challenge, and someday, maybe we will fight. There is but one fear I have for this area, since I am near the Doniaeth and Kaien border: hemoplague. I saw a young man desperately trying to cover up his face, while passing by the road to escape from Doniaeth. He was twitching a lot too. Either way, I believe that I made the right choice getting out of that corrupt mess."
"Damned vampires. Their lust for blood taints the glory waiting within them."
Persona: Ren is usually a quiet one, but when he feels like something is awry, he lets his mind roam free, along with his mouth. He also doesn't seem to care about any type of politics, for the gabble in court is annoying and useless to Ren. He also doesn't follow Thao orders anymore, nor come to visit the city once in a while. His old home is where he holes up, and usually doesn't come out, unless he needs to get goods. Otherwise, he spends his time sharpening his sword, training, reading proverbs, or cleaning his small hut.
Equipment: -Kamannen, a katana-like sword sharpened to its finest, forged to rip flesh. Ren had it since he started fighting. He enhanced it with basic Thao natural art, so it has the element of fire connected to it. The price paid to have this enchantment is heavy, though. When the sword breaks in any way, destroying the original shape of the blade, the blade itself will literally burn to ashes.
-Nightstalker Boots, boots that Ren bought from the market. The merchant explained that the boots had mufflers on them, making movement, if not totally, silent. Also, in rocky terrain, the boots are comfortable, with cushions all around the foot. This makes silent movement easy.
Ability/Magic/Technology: -Hellstrike, a Thao natural art move/jutsu. The user must drop his/her blood onto their weapon, then strike it into the ground. This creates a fissure in the surface around the sword, and then another fiery one around the foe which the sword is directed at. Combined with a fire spell or enchantment, this ability is powerful.
-Bound Weapon, a spell which creates an energy-based weapon out of thin air. Obviously, the bigger the weapon, the more the caster must learn the spell. The weapons that can be made are: Daggers, swords, axes, bows, and war hammers.
-Focused State. Ren isn't fond of magic or even natural art that much, so he practices Thao martial arts/swordsmanship. He has trained himself mentally and physically, and has learned how to focus his mind's state to, not just forget pain, but also attack faster and stronger. This takes lots of energy and practice, and wounds still exist, and hurt even more after focusing.
-Finishing Blow. Ren's last resort is using the bound sword with Hellstrike, and focusing. This combines all 3 of his main abilities, making an immensely powerful attack. Fusing pure energy with fire, he can create power, and focusing lets him "become one" with his weapon(s). Usually he faints after usage, but he can use this ability if needed.
-Draconic Spikes (my favorite ability :3), is a special ability known ONLY by Ren's clan. Their "mascot" in Thao is the dragon, and they picked this for a reason. They can call on the "power" of the dragon, giving them spikes, protruding from their back, wrists, and the back of their neck. A painful process, but it can really help with improving defense.
(I can cut down on anything)
Additional Info: Ren's parents were killed in an invasion, but he was too young to really know what was going on at the time. His sole caretaker, an old woman who lived in a different Thao village, taught Ren the cultural assets and ways of the Thao civilization, and also the way the military and imperial officials thought. It was only the basics, but enough for Ren to know enough about his culture. This was at the age of about 11. One day, Ren was out buying food and firewood from the nearest city, which was in Kaien. Ren was 19, but was still treated like a foreigner, and tried to make his trip quick. That failed, when a little girl came up to him, knowing he was Thao, (because of appearance) and asking what it was like in Thaos. Since Ren didn't know a lot about his homeland, he simply told the girl "I don't know". But he told her what the old woman told him. A few weeks after, Ren left the cottage for Thaos on foot, but when he got there, he didn't like what he saw. A lazy little girl as the ruler of the empire. He stayed for about a year, then left abruptly back for the small home where he used to live. Sadly, the old woman was already dead, and the house was run down. A few weeks of repair was enough, but Ren was fine with it. He's been living there since, still in Thao territory, but away from the government.
