Sorry about the delay in posting, I'll have something up today or tomorrow at the latest.
Well, I am going off of the muzzle velocity of a modern rifle. I pulled the FAL as a baseline, and then I read this article: http://www.wired.com/2012/05/star-wars-blaster-speed/

of which the pertinent conclusion is: "...the ground base’s blaster shots. The average for these things is just 34.9 m/s (78 mph)". The muzzle velocity of an FAL shooting a median loaded round is somewhere around 830 meters per second, so 830/35= 23.71.

Predictions for future developments in firearms technology diverge on cartridge size and therefore muzzle velocity: there are predictions for much smaller, much faster rounds and larger, somewhat slower rounds. Star Wars would most likely have both varieties, or none, who knows [it is a past-future space-fantasy wonderland], but I figure current technology at least would be available.

Slugthrowers are pretty rubbish against armor [according to the wiki. I personally am skeptical but canon is canon] but force users tend not to use armor, and a bullet [especially a futuristic one] will fuck soft tissue's day up. I figure it would be super in flavor for a /k/ommando to have, seeing as it would play right into the common channer adoration of older firearms and the love to enthuse about corner-case weapons.

Regardless, I don't think I'll be swapping characters. If nothing else it would be too much work to redo a character sheet.
I'm probably going to have to drop out of this game, unfortunately. Real-life concerns are forcing me to drop RPs, despite my best efforts. I hope the game goes well for y'all!
Oh man a bowcaster would be SO PERFECT. I am also thinking he has stocked up on solid projectile weapons to kill force users [since bullets go about twenty times the speed of blaster bolts, according to the internet], and his next-level channer degeneracy lets him do the jedi-hunter emotion-projection thing. Oh man now I totally want to play this character, though to make him have any meaning at all in the larger story he is going to have to be a stone cold motherfucker.
With the Pianist

The debonair pianist's demure grin flashed with disappointed frustration for the blink of an eye before rectifying itself. "I'm afraid that I cannot prove much to you at this juncture. Having four complex correspondence runes on the same piece of paper without it bursting into flames would impress many, but I assume you would want more assurance than our Benefactor's esoteric linguistic knowledge.". The bespectacled woman leaned in slightly, the smell of roses and honey becoming more pronounced. Her body shifted appealingly as she did so, and even the most steadfast eyes would have difficulty not wandering, no doubt in some part by design. She flashed her pearl-white smile ever so slightly, and continued.

"I could tell you that I have seen the capabilities of our Benefactor first-hand, and have bee suitably impressed. Though, I do not expect you to believe me. Though, the fact that I was so willing to bet my life, which of course holds great value to me, on our Benefactor keeping his side of the bargain should give you some indication."

She straightens slightly, her less formal speech and posture returning to their original courtesy and elegance. She speaks to Spencer first, her attention directing flatteringly towards him "I will arrange a demonstration of our Benefactor's capability in due time, once the first, easiest task is completed. If you are disappointed, then you can walk away from the contract and leave no worse off than when you arrived."

Turning to the detective, her spectacles boring into your eyes with a certain incorporeal intensity "As for the particular activities, I am afraid that my Benefactor has forbidden me from revealing them before the contract has been signed. You can, of course, once you learn what tasks will be required, leave the contract and end as you began, minus obviously the expenses of the journey, which I am sure can be remunerated”

She simply nods to Alexandre, perhaps answering his previous question, perhaps thanking him for his eagerness to participate in the contract.
I'm starting to feel markedly less original now that we have a whole bunch of clone soldiers around.

Thinking about changing to either a grounded admiral, or preferably a paranoid /k/ommando who has been preparing for this invasion for years. Everyone called him crazy, but now he'll show them, with whatever the Star Wars equivalent of a surplus Mosin-Nagant and bloc armor, ready to go operate innastreets.
I didn't know that. Thanks, Ronin
<Snipped quote by Eschatologist>Flamethrower is easily blocked by a Force user using Force Deflection.

I thought the same thing, but according to the wiki deflection "...took much skill in the Force to use this, however, and most Jedi used their lightsabers instead to deflect incoming attacks.

I figure most force users are not skilled enough to do it based on this description, and most who are would have neglected the skill because of its apparent redundancy, or at least niche use, when one wields a lightsaber. Obviously, more powerful force users require different tactics, which the squads would be presumably trained for. There is likely a level of jedi which normal troops cannot take, but that level would likely be rather high, and therefore encountering one in the field without intelligence would be unlikely enough not to warrant a serious change in tactics.

In addition, surprise is a major part of killing force users, I figure, so most targets, even if they can use the technique, may be caught unawares enough to be vulnerable.
For clarification, I have the apparently poor habit of using sith and dark jedi interchangeably. Understood GM, thanks.
Seeing as Tyrannus had loads of sith understudies, there is apparently a new sith order, and this war has escalated further and further [likely to draw jedi defectors now that the tide has turned], could I posit that the GAR have implemented anti-sith troops? I ask because it seems common sense to have a squad of anti-sith/anti-jedi troops attached to brigades that are likely to encounter force users.

A squad/squads of snipers, armored flamethrower troops, carbonite throwers, grenadiers, stun-net troops and other nasty anti-personnel warfare specialists who are trained to project emotion and hide their minds from force users would be a relative small cost to protect potentially whole units from single sith.
