In the room of what seemed to be an empty building, light footsteps were heard. It was late in the evening and no one was inside but a lone figure, who looked to be searching for something frantically.
"Damn it, I can't find anything. In fact, there's nothing here!" A female voice mutters in frustration as she paces around the room. "Not here." She says after flipping over one file she had found on a table that was at the center of the room."Not here either." She adds exasperatedly bfore she concludes that her first statement was true and she was simply wasting her time, yet once again. It certainly wasn't the first time she would go home empty handed.
"I don't get it." She states confused,"I was so sure this time."
The female felt as if what she was doing was impossible. Everything she's done has constantly ended up in failure. No matter how close she felt to her goal, the farther it actually was. It was literally starting to feel like a wild goose chase. Exhausted, both physically and mentally, she stalks out of the room shoulders slumped. Her eyes wandering around the floor that had papers scattered all over it. Whether it was fate's doing or just pure luck, her foot got stuck on one file that she overlooked. On the uppermost corner read," Nicole D'Lacrue."
With just those two words the female grinned,"Why hello me, I was right after all," she says before scoffing at herself,"when was I ever wrong?"
Was what she had said before her grin had transformed into a smirk as she took a hold of the file. The topmost part of it had her name and after flipping the front cover, she had almost dropped the file right then and there. Inside was a picture of her and her father while she was still young. She felt a strong surge of loathing, someone had been spying on her family years ago. Way too long, as if someone had been waiting when her father got comfortable. She had initially thought that her father just played a trick on the wrong person during business. Now she knew that this went deeper than that.
