Sounds like @DeadBeatWalking has a lot to think about.

He mentioned that the world is in its "medieval/renaissance period" in the NS template. A bit vague, but it's enough to allow me to stand on my high horse.
If it's the early middle ages, then I'd be less of a nation and more of a cultural hegemony of tribal semi-nomads occasionally bound under whomever comes along with the biggest stick.

Though I obviously prefer the late middle ages bleeding over into a renaissance.
I believe that I'll be basing my nation upon Central Asia, so I would love it if firearms are just coming into prominence.
I hope they'll be as useful and rare as elephants were in combat. Especially if they're giant rhinos.

It was to my understanding that this world was in its late medieval to early renaissance period, which I assume includes the introduction of firearms. There is a reason why colonialism happened when it did (firearms, better ship designs, etc). Using the RP's fantasy genre as a reasoning doesn't really cut it, unless your colonialism was achieved through fantastical means. Of course, I'll be fine with it if you provide logial explanation.
Isn't this a little early for an overseas empire to even be able to exist?
@DeadBeatWalking

The city-state would have been fun, but here's my new claim. Is it crude enough for you?
@DeadBeatWalking I was going to take more land, but I didn't want to put you all at a disadvantage.

Yeah, no.

Eyy, I saw that you didn't fill in your very southern tip, which makes it fair game. And besides, I know that you're scared.

I'm ready.
