After the boys were finished writing their intended plans James and Julius sat down by the table.
-"So James, about this 'test' you were mentioning..." Julius approached tentatively.
-"I don't really know a whole lot but I can tell you what I saw. I noticed Jan approaching master Goldenfold after class to talk to him. He asked him what the lords have told master Goldenfold and he answered that they weep within a moon. Jan then responded with 'I schedule the examination to be held five weeks, tell the others for me.' And that's it, nothing more was said between them."
-"What does 'the lords weep within a moon' mean exactly?"
-"I got no idea. Master Goldenfold can be very difficult to interpret at times, especially when caught out of context."
-"I guess time will tell."

-"How are we feeling today Desmond?" Gertrude's kind voice pierced the silence inside her office.
-"Like shit. I can't stand the darkness, it's more black than I can bear." Desmond, still a bit shocked, sat up in his bed. Realizing his eyes were gone had taken a toll on him.
-"Don't worry Desmond, Hans is going to help you transplant a new pair of eyes today. He should be around any minute." Gertrude had barely finished talking before a click could be heard from the door.
-"Who's our little subject today?" A mans voice was heard as someone came through the door. It was filled with confidence.
-"Hans I have told you several times not to call my patients subjects. It is very degrading!" The nurse's voice completely flipped from kind and loving to harsh.
-"But sweetheart, you know I love doing it! Besides I heard the news from Massan, these injuries are the result of his magic alone. So that would make him a test subject if we are going to do this within the rules." The confidence in Hans' voice had easily been washed away. The nurse sighed as she left the edge for your bed.
-"You know I can't thank you enough Hans. All you've done for me..."
-"Eh... don't mention it sweetheart." Though Desmond couldn't see he was sure he felt the nervous man blush. He took a few moments to gather his voice again. "Now Desmond, is there any specific eye colour you would like?"
-"I don't care, I just want a pair of eyes so I can see again!"
-"That's completely doable. Gertrude will put you to sleep now while I go and fetch a pair of spare eyes back in my class room."
Desmond heard the man walking out as he felt the soft touch of the nurse's hand on his fore head. A few seconds later Desmond fell into a calm slumber.

-"What have you done Hans!? What went through your mind when you let this happen!?" Dozy Desmond woke up to hear Gertrude's upset voice.
-"I- I didn't know I only had one eye left! He said he just wanted a pair of eyes so I got him just that." Forcefully Desmond opened his eyes to find the nurse and an older man with grey lank hair and an bloodied apron arguing. He also wore an impressive tool belt filled with saws, knives and pliers.
-"But where did you get that eye!? You didn't do what I think you did right? Please tell me you didn't get this one from Mister Fluffington!" Putting his hands over his right eye Desmond made a wry grimace in pain.
-"Don't worry sweetheart! M-Mister Fluffington dresses well in an eye patch!" My head, my eye, Why does it hurt so much?
-"Are you insane!? Do you think Nightgale won't notice that his cat is missing an eye? The first person he is going to blame is you and you know it!" Is it supposed to hurt? Why is my head pounding so badly?
-"He will understand me! From one creative to another."
-"Umm, is there something wrong?" Desmond stop the bickering teachers.
-"Oh, Desmond! You're awake! How are we feeling?" Hans put his hands together and walked up beside Desmond.
-"My head and my right eye throbs and hurts. Is that normal?"
-"I would say so yes. Sweetheart could you find a mirror or something reflective?" Hans instructs the nurse. "I am a little reluctant to say this but things might not have gone as you planned. When I was checking back at my classroom I noticed that I only had one eye spare left. I didn't know what to do so I panicked. You had clearly asked me to get you one pair of eyes but I only had half a pair, a disaster! In my panicked state I tried to think out where I could get a second eye for you. Certainly I couldn't just rip out another students eye again or I would have Jan on my back again. That was when Mister Fluffington, the dreamologist Nightgale's very fluffy but ugly cat, passed my classroom. Time was of the essence so I took a quick decision and rid Mister Fluffington of one of his eyes, treated it with a bit of magic and ran back to you."

Desmond was stunned, shocked and slightly terrified. A disheartened Gertrude walked up next to Hans with a small hand mirror to show Desmond his new countenance. His reflection showed Desmond a perfectly healed face, no burn mark or scars. His eye lashes and eye brows had completely been burned away by the accident and some of his bangs as well. His left eye looked fine, a nice hazel colour, yet it was the right one that he had hoped was just a mean prank. Where his right eye once were sat indeed a cats eye slightly reshaped to fit in the socket.
"Your brain is not yet calibrated to your new eye, hence the pain. It could take months or even years before you are fully accustomed to it. Until then you'll have skewed depth perception and occasional migraine and nausea. Otherwise it will work just fine." Hans gave Desmond an assuring look, yet it failed to inspire any confidence.
-"Here, take this." Gertrude held out a black eye patch for Desmond. "Until you're ready to show your eye you can wear this. It might even help against the pain." Desmond took the eye patch and got out of bed as he put it on.
-"Thank you." Desmond said with a measly tone before walking out. Almost immediately after Desmond close the door he heard someone running after him.
-"Desmond! Wait up would you?" Hans put a hand on Desmond's shoulder to stop him. "This ain't the end of the world alright? Consider yourself lucky you don't have to walk around blind. And besides..." The older man leans in closer and lowers his voice to a whisper. "There are certain benefits to that new eye. If you know how to control it. If you're curious come visit me in organic magic class."

Following the stream of students were Julius, Auron and James, marching down the path to school. All three of them had noticed that the older, and most likely more experienced, a wizard got the weirder his taste in fashion gets. Robe, armour, regalia, accessories and anything mixed or in between were adorned with strange patterns, colours, embroidery and/or jewelry. If there was a dress code it had to be elaborate for sure. Accidentally Julius bumps into a pale boy wearing a black eye patch who weirdly enough walks away from the school.
-"Sorry! Didn't see you th... Desmond?" The three boys stops and turn around to find their now healed room mate. "Wow Desmond! They really did a great healing you, err.. But what is the deal with the eye patch?"
-"They only had one spare eye." Desmond answered after some hesitation.
-"Where are you going? Morning class is about to begin and we are not allowed to skip those." Auron stated bluntly.
-"I got permission to skip it this time. I'll find you during lunch." That was probably a lie. Desmond couldn't recall Gertrude telling him it was okay to take the morning off, but his mind were in no state to learn or even care right now.
-"Okay, take care then!" Said James in an attempt to encourage an obviously melancholy Desmond.

When the boys arrived at the entrance to the school they split ways to find their respective classrooms. Julius picked up his pamphlet and looked at the map. After confirming where the raw magic classroom was he walked over to it with determined steps. Upon entering the classroom Julius became a bit puzzled. It was completely empty! Or almost empty, at least the teacher sat behind the rostrum. The classroom was organized in a simple way much like the general education one. One big difference however was how the room felt more fortified than the others. The walls was made out of a different material and looked more sturdy, even the windows were strengthened with iron bars. Dismissing the thought that this was some kind of isolation chamber Julius sat down behind one of the benches like any good student would and began to observe his teacher. It was a young man with red hair splaying wildly. He wore ragged simple clothing and some kind of thick collar around his neck. It looked like he had trouble focusing on some kind on paper he was writing while tapping his foot disturbingly fast. Minutes passed without anyone else entering the classroom or the troubled teacher leaving the rostrum. Just as Julius patience ran out and were about to say something the man flew out of his chair and jumped over the rostrum. He ran all the way up to a scared Julius and pulled him up by his shirt while staring at him with wide open eyes.
-"Want to do something wild!?" He asked almost screaming while his face and body twitched and shook.

Auron entered the corruption magic classroom with both anxiety and excitement. Only a few students were inside standing around and small talking. The moment Auron stepped inside the room went deathly quite. The older students glared at Auron as he sat down behind one of the benches. He couldn't care less though which seemed to only aggravate the other students further.
-"I thought Sandor threw you out last time you were here. You got some nerve coming back." One of the other students walked to Auron's desk and slammed her fist on it threateningly. She was dressed in a dark robe with purple marks all over her face. Auron only stared back at her with disdain. Infuriated she punched the young boy off the chair and pressed his face against the cold stone floor. "If I would kill you right here and now no one would even bat an eye. I hope you and your family burn in hell or whatever you place you're going to." Struggling but still silent Auron tried to wiggle out of the girls iron grip. His efforts proved to be worthless as he got nowhere. No sweating Auron felt how some kind of magic pierced his skin, slowly digging it's way to his heart. Auron's vision slowly began to fade and his breath became faint as the spell squeezed his heart.

Suddenly the spell disappeared and a weight was lifted from Auron's back. Quickly rolling over Auron saw the girl being pulled away by her hair, screaming at the top of her lungs. It was her teacher's doing, raw and without mercy. He slammed her into the wall with anger and kept her pinned by her throat.
-"Worthless piece of trash! How dare you pick a fight without a teacher's permission? And with a student way below your own rank, despicable!" The teacher's anger and rage was overwhelming. I was so prominent and strong one could feel it through the school walls. Auron couldn't help but puke because of the fury emanating from the man.
-"Why are you defending him?" The student screamed in terror at her teacher. With a powerful thrust the man stuck his fingers through her throat. Auron watched in indignation as she shrunk and shriveled like rotten fruit until only a limp and emaciated body remained. Stupid family name.
-"Why are you still laying on the floor? Get to the back room with you!" Half scared by the teacher's mad voice Auron hurried into the room they spoke in yesterday.

Nothing had changed inside the back room since last time except for one detail. Placed on the floor in the center of the room stood a small flower in a pot. Auron didn't have much knowledge of flora but any slightly educated guy can recognize an orchid when they see one. Auron didn't have to wait long before his teacher, who seemed more collected, was finished instructing the class.
-"I swear I did not do anything!" Auron defended himself quickly in front of the teacher.
-"I know. If you did you would have already been dead." He answered with barely restrained anger. "I didn't want to kill Louise. She was a good student and a promising witch. However I had to make it clear that you are out of boundaries when it comes to enacting vendetta."
-"I thought you didn't like me?"
-"I don't, so stop pushing it. But I may have let myself get slightly persuaded by Tohrd, damn smooth talker." The last part was said with resent under his breath. With a grunt the masked teacher sat down behind the orchid, motioning Auron to do the same. "Could you feel it when I killed Louise? The feeling when something dies?" {Psyche check successful} How couldn't I?
-"Yes. I could feel how her living force simply escaped her. Like a hot sand streaming lightly over your skin, every grain burning softly, leaving a cold stinging emptiness." Auron did not intend his words to come out so poetically, but it was a very good way to describe it.
-"Impressive words Zecane. I want you to keep that feeling as you channel your magic through this flower. Steel your mind, focus on emptiness and raw death." Stretching out his hand toward the flower Auron closed his hand and focused. Only one thing came to mind though: Gregory Zecane. Auron had never felt anyone reek as much as death as his own father. The boy's fingers turned cold as the spell began working it's magic on the poor flower. Before his very eyes the flower began to wilt and wither. One petal after another turned from white to gray, the stem began to crook and break. I didn't take much longer until only dust remained.
-"How did that feel Zecane?"

Desmond sat on porch smoking. He had taken his eye patch off and was looking at the direction of the school. Damn! This eye really hurts. Yet... Desmond had been thinking about what Hans had said earlier, about benefits. I wonder what he can teach me exactly. Will I be able to see in the dark? Will I get animalistic senses? Stupid Hans and his tempting promises. Screw it, let's see what he's up to. Fed up with wallowing in pity Desmond put on his eye patch and decided to head back to school and seek out Hans. With the help of the handy pamphlet Desmond found his way easily through empty corridors.

When Desmond arrived at the classroom door he froze on the spot. As he place his hand on the door knob he can hear the scream of someone in pain. With a nervous gulp he open up the door.
-"Lay still! This will only hurt for a little longer." Desmond hear Hans' crazed and desperate voice from behind a curtain. Blood is running everywhere on the floor. At another corner of the room is two older students, busy pulling each others limbs off. From below the curtain a freshman girl crawls toward a now terrified Desmond. She is missing her lower body, bleeding immensely.
-"Please help me..." She begs Desmond with a weak voice.
-"Don't move Elisa! You will get yourself killed!" Hans bursts through the curtains, sweating badle with his lank hair hanging messy over his face. In his right hand is a big saw covered in blood, just as bloody as his apron. His expression is filled with fascination and fear.
-"Save me... please..." The girl in front of Desmond pulls him by his leg, begging faintly. However Desmond is to scared to help, stunned with fear.
-"Enough of this nonsense, relax!" Hans voice turned more desperate as he pulled the dying girl, screaming with her last breathes, back behind the curtains.

Desmond sat down on the bloody floor staring at the curtain in shock. He sat completely still listening to the meaty sounds and whimpers coming from behind the curtain. The blood kept pouring on the floor, soaking his pants and underwear. Eventually he fainted from the stress, laying face down dirty, crimson blood.

Sweaty and panting Desmond rouse up, eye's wide open. Panic-struck he look around you finding himself laying on top of a wooden table surrounded by curtains. Only a meter away is Hans sitting in a chair smoking his cigarettes. Hans eyes shift to Desmond as he tries to sit up.
-"Oh, you're awake?" His voice was a lot calmer than earlier. "I must say you're a boy full of surprises. I didn't expect a boy of your age wandering around... these things. They certainly helped me relax but I can feel my body getting sick with every breath." The remark was rather concerning. Hearing Hans voice stirred Desmond's memories to life.
-"What happened to the girl? Is she alright?" Desmond said terrified, but he could see no trace of the huge amount of blood on the floor, nor the screaming girl.
-"She is, and she would have been even better if she hadn't rolled of the table."
-"What exactly is going on in here!?" Desmond said in confusion and great anxiety.
-"I take it as you've never seen organic magic before. Organic magic, or blood magic as it also is referred as, is about controlling your own body. We bloodshifters know how to control the flow of our blood, expand and shrink our muscles and tear our or very bones from our body."
-"So the girl just failed with a spell?"
-"Not really. She is a freshman like you who wanted to learn magic. But If you want to partake in my class you’ll need to go through the bloodshifter's trial.”
-“And she didn't make it?”
-“Definitely not. The trial is to experience how it is to be truncated for a whole week and I had to put her legs back after ten minutes! Usually we only cut off an arm or a leg, but she was so cocky I decided to give her a real challenge. Maybe I went a bit overboard.” Hans laugh nervously.
-“What is the purpose of the trial? Why don’t you teach any magic before you force your pupils to take the trial?”
-“It is a test to see if they can truly be bloodshifters. Many times have we organic mages lived without parts of our body before we could regrow them again. I don’t want to give my wisdom to someone who can’t handle it." Hans paused and put out the cigarette. "Now that you know about the trial, do you want to partake in my class?”

-"So far so good Ted. Are you ready to heat things up?" Confidence were dripping from Desmond's voice as he continued to push the winds back at Ted.
-"Sure! What do you have in mind?" Ted answered curiously. Desmond simply gave a smile as a response, he needed all the focus he could muster. Through his right hand he channeled a gentle flow of mana to heat up the air he kept in place with short bursts of magic through his left hand. Force built up in his hands as the two elements began to merge into a concentrated inferno between his palms. Desmond didn't notice that the class was staring at him intensely through his concentration. "Eh, Desmond? Are you sure about this?" Ted said worried as he took a few steps back covering his face with his arm. A brief moment before the disaster Desmond felt how he had made a serious mistake and could only swallow tightly as the inevitable accident occurred. The force had been building up to a scale beyond Desmond's skills and eventually control was lost, resulting in the spell blowing up in Desmond's face. Shocked and wounded Desmond was sent flying across the roof until he was knocked unconscious by the landing's impact.

He did not know if it was from exhaustion, from built up anger or if he was just fed up with today's receivings but something made Auron snap badly.
-"I'm pretty sure you can't do this. You are a teacher you are supposed to teach and not judge! I am not my father! It is hard enough going to this school because everyone is judging me for my father's actions. Actions he took, not I! Just a reminder to you sir. I did not think that even the teachers would judge a little boy for what his father have done." Many feelings were stirring inside Auron leaving him on the verge of crying for a short moment before he calmed down and looked up with deep sigh and something close to a forlorn expression. The boy could not see beyond the mask, but he could feel how the teacher gritted his teeth in frustration. The room became deathly quiet for longer than Auron felt comfortable with. Nervously Auron felt the air beginning to itch against his skin, how it began smelling rancid and thin. He began feeling nauseous and weak but Auron would not budge, he kept staring at the masked man. The man flew up on his feet making Aurons heart jump twice, never before had he felt so worried for his well being.

-"Fine." The teacher said contempt as he released the spell. Auron breathed heavily as the air around him turned back to normal again. "But know this Zecane: I'll be the one putting you down once you break bad."
-"Duly noted." Auron responded weakly with a discreet smirk.
-"Come back here tomorrow morning and I'll introduce you to the arts. Do not dare to arrive late Zecane." Victoriously Auron walked out the classroom not bothering to say bye to his new unwilling teacher.

Reading wasn't a common skill among the Nords. However Julius was no ordinary Nord, he had been chosen by the elder in his tribe to venture to the famous Lauzurus' school. Loa, as the elder is called, were known to be a bit crazy. Even so Julius and the rest of his tribe respected her greatly for her guidance and commune with mother nature. The Nord boy had very fond memories of her from the few years he had spent with her before he was sent to Lauzurus.
Is that you Julius? Join me by the flames, I have something important to tell you. I've had a vision, the chilling winds have spoken. You Julius are a blessed child just like I was once. There is a place you must go to far beyond hills, the woods and mountains. There lies a place were magic whirls like fish in a thawed lake. Go there and learn the art of our ancestors. When you are stronger than your father return here and save us. From what you ask? You'll see young, you'll see...

The sight of the huge library pulled Julius from his thoughts. Through double doors is the spectacular collection of tomes, scroll, books and other bindings of infinite knowledge. Many Nords would regard this place as a waste of potential but Julius knew better than that. row after row huge bookshelves were lined filled with readables. The library even had a second floor with just even more shelves just as full. This is a sanctuary of knowledge! This place must be worth an immeasurable treasure. In awe Julius entered the library just to soak in the tranquil atmosphere.

-"Can I help you with something?" A girls voice snapped Julius out of his trance.
-"Uh umm, yes! I'm looking for some books about Basic magic." He answered the older girl. She was quite tall with long black hair much similar to Auron's but with more volume. She was wearing a black vest over a gray long dress adorned with incomprehensible text that seemed to shift as you glanced at it.
-"By your looks I can safely guess you're new here right? Welcome to Lauzurus!" She said with a happy voice. "The library is thoroughly sorted in categories after elements, spectrum and other topics like history and geography. It's quite easy to find what you're looking for unless it's very specific. You're free to borrow anything you like as long as you check out with me by the counter over there. However the top floor is off-limits for you, only senior students are allowed to use the books up there."
-"Alright, thank you very much. I didn't catch your name though?"
-"It's Lydia. Have a nice day Julius!" The girl left Julius to return to the counter where other students needed her assistance. Wait! How did she know my name? Bah, never mind. Let's find some books about Basic magic.

Following the rows Julius found what he was looking for under the Potent spectrum, Basic magic shelf. The Enchanter's handbook to usefulness, could this be it? Picking down the book from the tall shelf Julius quickly flipped through it to confirm that this was indeed a beginner's guide to the Basic element.
-"Julius! There you are!" Ted's shouts broke the calm atmosphere in the library gathering upset looks from others enjoying their moment of respite.
-"Calm down Ted!" Julius hushed the pale and stressed boy quickly. "What got you so riled up?"
-"It's Desmond! He blew up!"
-"What!?" The Nord accidentally bursts out. "Do you mean he literally blew up?"
-"I'll try to explain on the way, hurry!"
-"Alright! I'm going, just let me fix this one thing first." With great speed Julius checked out the book with Lydia and hurried to catch up with Ted who was already running down the corridors. "What really happened to Desmond Ted!?" Julius ask Ted as he catches up with him.
-"I don't know! He tried doing some cool spell during our class but it failed in some way. The spell blew up right in his face I... I could barely recognize him his eyes had liked popped in their sockets and his face was burnt to charcoal or something It was super scary!"
Guess magic isn't all roses and sunshine...

The two boys stormed through the door to the nurse's office.
-"Is he okay!?" Ted asked desperately holding back his tears. The small office had three beds for wounded, two free and one occupied by what one would assume is Desmond. By Desmond's bed stood a white dressed older women with gray hair tucked tightly into a bun to keep it up.
-"He'll be fine, don't you worry." She said with a kind voice. "Nothing serious were damage by the explosion, except for his eyes of course. Luckily Hans had a few spare. Let's hope our brave boy Desmond here is fine with two different eye colours."
-"What a relief. You must be really good at magic." Julius said as he walked up next to bed. Desmond was laying awfully still there, his face completely wrapped in blood soaked bandage.
-"Only the best for Lauzurus. He'll be able to attend lessons again tomorrow afternoon."
-"So soon!? I mean he was pretty messed up when he got here." Ted cut in a little less worried than before.
-"If he does not feel up to it he can tell me tomorrow, I promise to take good care of your friend. Now let's give him some rest."

The two boys left the nurse's office relieved to know their friend is going to be fine. Together they walked back to campus, exhausted from today's endeavors.
-"Are you going to be okay Ted?" Julius asked ceoncerned for the little boy before they split up.
-"I think so. No doubt I'll have nightmares about it though! Thanks Julius, you're a cool guy!"
-"Don't sweat it. I'll see you around." When Ted was out of sight Julius walked up the porch and inside his cabin. Inside were Auron and James who pretended none of them were actually there.
-"Where are the homeless one? I thought he was with you." Auron asked upon noticing Desmond's absence.
-"He got into a magical accident, quite nasty actually. He'll be back on his feet tomorrow so no worries." Julius gave Auron a mean look.
-"I'm glad he's okay. How was your day?" James asks over his shoulder as he is fidgeting with something on the opposite wall.
-"Rather uneventful actually. What are you up to over there?"
-"I'm putting up this almanac. I thought we could use it to keep track of which classes we are going to attend and other important events."
-"That's pretty clever! Got any of those coming up?"
-"Actually we do. In five weeks there will be an examination for all apprentice students. If you pass you'll be promoted to junior student."
-"How come we haven't heard any of this?" Auron looks up skeptically at James.
-"I overheard one of my teacher speaking to Jan about it. Now how about you write up your schedule?" James hands a pen over to Julius.

-"I must first awaken my magic like you two did, I suppose. I've never used magic before, all I ever did was scuffle with ruffians. Although mostly with my brothers. So to start off I think I'm gonna go with basic magic. I have no idea what it means but 'basic' has to mean it's good for beginners, right?" Said Julius as he ruffled Ted's hair.
-"Sounds logical to me." Desmond answered while the group followed the now moving line of students.
-"Ack, I'm starving... History lessons sure make you hungry! But hey, what about you two? Fire magic sounds cool but what are you doing after lunch?"
-"Julius, there is so much I want to do, magic is so exciting!" Desmond said while whirling his burning fingertip around. "Ted always dreamed of being able to fly so I'll go with him." In his rush of excitement Desmond grabbed the little boys shoulder and pulled him close. "Ted, imagine us flying around the school! Wouldn't that be amazing?"
-"It sure would! I can hardly wait!" Ted answered equally enthusiastic. The three boys eventually got inside the dining hall. The big hall were filled to the brim with tables and chairs, above them hang large chandeliers keeping the room lit. At the front of the line the boys get handed a plate each with steaming hot roasted mackerel and potatoes from some older students through a large counter.
-"Isn't that our boy Auron over there?" Says Julius as he points at the black haired boy sitting alone in one of the corners. "Let's sit with him." Before anyone had a chance to say otherwise Julius took the point and sat down next to Auron.

-"Hello Auron, is something wrong?" Said Desmond after he sat down, observing that Auron was only poking his food.
-"I'm not very hungry, besides they spat in the food before I got the plate."
-"Why would someone do such an awful thing!?" Julius said, angered by what he heard.
-"Because my father likes Demons more than he likes humans." Auron answered shortly.
-"That gives them no reason to punish you!" While Julius did not know anything about the Zecane family or Swedian culture he knew when injustice was at work.
-"So it's true? You are Zecane like the Zecane?" Desmond could not hold back his curiosity anymore.
-"I don't want to talk about it." Auron's voice was cold as he glanced at everyone around the table. The rest of the delicious lunch continued in awkward silence until Julius broke it.
-"So... Which class are you taking next?" He asked as he turned to Auron.
-"Corruption." And with that last word Auron left the table and made his way to class.

The corridors were once again filling up with students who also finished their lunch. Auron were walking slowly with his hands in his pockets. This whole day had been crap thus far and lunch didn't make it any better. It doesn't take long before he finds the corruption magic classroom. Without hesitation he walks inside and sit down in the nearest empty bench. As Auron take a look around he notice that he is probably the youngest student here. Behind the rostrum stands the teacher with his back at the class, writing something on the blackboard.

-"Good afternoon disciples and welcome back from your break." He says with a dark and raspy voice. He turns around and look out over his class. He is wearing a dark cloak with a hood hanging over his head. He wears leather gloves and a grey wooden mask over his face. Not a single inch of skin can be seen. He looks kinda creepy...
"Today we will be talking about usq mortem diseases and why they should be handled with care. Take in mind the backlash theorem and... hmm?" The teacher stops at Auron to look at him. "Zecane..." He says with what sounds like despise. Now what?
-"Yes?" Auron answers more jeering than intended.
-"Come with me, I'll be right back class." The teacher leads Auron to a backroom much like how Tohrd did. The back room even shared a similar design. The teacher closed the door behind Auron and and walked up to him uncomfortably close. "Why are you here?" He asks with a very pushy tone.
-"To learn corruption magic of course. Is there a problem?"
-"Yes. I rarely teach junior students corruption magic, even less likely that I teach an apprentice student. But to teach you corruption magic would just be shameful."
-"I'm strong, I can handle it."
-"Of course you can. But why would I teach a Zecane magic which only brings death and destruction, someone from a family known for their extremely dangerous and treacherous behavior. I hope you can see where I'm going with this Zecane." Stupid family name...

With the help from his pamphlet Julius found the way to his classroom. Just as he walks around a corner his heart skips a beat. Her red long hair can be seen just as she enter the classroom. Jenny and I are going to attend the same class? Is this reality? With very light steps Julius almost skips inside the classroom. Quickly looking for an empty bench close to his beloved Julius finds that the seat behind her is free. Julius pushed anyone out of his way as he rushed to claim the empty seat. Delighted with being able to smell her hair from behind Julius look around noticing that this classroom is much bigger than the one he had been to earlier and also contains several larger workbenches.
-"Allright class, settle down." An older woman speaks with a kind voice. She stands by the blackboard over the side of the classroom, busy with sketching some kind of star. She is dressed in a bright pink robe with red bands hanging from various spots.
"Welcome to basic magic my lovely freshmen. I am Agiatha Jesulin and I will be holding a beginners class every afternoon just so you new wizards get an understanding for the complex nature of magic. Today we will be talking about the Magic Spectrum and Sub-Elements so get your books ready!"

Julius quickly put up the back of his pamphlet and pick up a pen from the floor to take notes. Looking up at the board Julius see what Agiatha had painted.

-"This is the Magical Spectrum. Take a close look at it because it is very important for every wizard to know how the elements are organized. Every point of the star represent a magical spectrum, featuring four elements each. Elements of the same spectrum share some kind of magic nature, the feeling of it's magic. For example look at the Glooming Spectrum. It features Demonology, Corruption, Dark and Galaxial magic. All these elements share the feeling of the unknown, but also destruction! The Living Spectrum features elements that somehow alters life. Nature, Metamorphism, Organic and Will magic makes a very lively and and unpredictable spectrum.

The Elemental Spectrum mostly speaks for it self. It contains the four elements Wind, Earth, Fire and Water. They share the power of creation, the might to shape the world. The Sparkling Spectrum is filled with glimmering spells. Light, Arcane, Healing and Religious magic together gives you control over the essence of power. Last is the Potent Spectrum. It shares power of the abstract and undefined. Trance, Basic, Raw and Synthetic magic contains endless possibilities. There is however a point beyond classification within this chart.

Spectrum that doesn't lie next to each other is harder to grasp at the same time. A wizard studying elements within the Sparkling Spectrum will have a hard time learning elements within the Glooming Spectrum since their natures are very different to each other. I want you to keep that in mind when you pick your courses. Of course you can learn elements from opposite spectrum, but it require a larger amount of skill and dedication. Let's move on to Sub-Elements..."

For the rest of the lesson Agiatha teaches about how every element has two sub-elements with only a few exceptions. Sub-elements are a type of magic that is too different to be included in a bigger element, but not specific enough to stand as its own element. Sub-elements also share the core of the nature of it's stem element. For example ice magic is a sub-element to water magic and poison magic being a sub-element to nature magic.

"Is there any questions before you go?" The sweet teacher asks.

-"What the heck is this?" Desmond double check his pamphlet to make sure he and Ted really got to the right room. "The map says this is it but all I see is some stairs going up."
-"I agree it is strange, perhaps it's just up the stairs?" Ted says judging the room. What you assumed were the wind magic classroom turned out to only be a spiral stair made out of of stone leading upwards. Quite odd considering the corridors already has stairs leading to the second floor. Other than said stairs the room has no other features except for some torches on the walls that keep the room lit.
-"Let's hope so." Desmond said taking the point up the stairs. Much to their surprise the stairs lead further than they had thought going way above the second floor through a trapdoor to the roof.
-"Well, this makes kind of sense. It sure must be easier to practice wind magic outside than inside, I think." Ted shrugged. The two boys join the rest of the class standing in one of the roof's corners small talking about whatnot.
-"You don't think this is kind of dangerous Ted? I mean what if someone gets pushed off the edge by some failed spell?" Desmond didn't just acknowledge the outer edge of the rood but also the inner edge where the park lied down on the ground. It made him kind of anxious knowing there was double the ledges to fall off because a fall from here would certainly mean grave injuries.

-"Of course magic is dangerous!" Scared be the sudden loud voice Desmond turned around to find him face to face with what he assumed were his teacher. His whole upper body and face were wrapped in bandages leaving only a small gap for his dark eyes to see through. Over the bandages he wore a black simple vest and on his lower body sat just as simple black pants and shoes. How did he sneak up on me so easily!? Calming his nerves Desmond took a couple of steps back from his teacher. "Just because you're learning wind magic in my class it doesn't that we'll be lollygagging around like the other classes. Oh no! I demand discipline and focus!" The teacher's sharp voice straightened his student's backs as he paced in front of them. "For you who haven't been here before I can tell that Jan and Agiatha had some new runes set up on the roof this year. As long as the runes are active they will prevent you from falling down. Jan hopes this will lower the school's mortality rate, however I know fools will just find another way to kill themselves just as nature intended. My advice to you: Don't be fools." Though knowing about the runes calmed down Desmond a bit he didn't really like to hear that dying in accidents were common around here.

The teacher backed over to the inner edge and stepped off it. Just as he were about to drop he began floating in mid-air slowly drifting backwards. "Compared to the other elements wind magic is quirky and frail. The winds want to roam free and do as their pleases, they will though no matter what we do. All we can do is shove them in the direction we want. Diana what is the first rule of wind magic?" He asks one of the girls fast. Struggling to spit out an answer the teacher pushed his hands forward creating a booming wind that sent her flying. Just as she flies off the roof some magical force catches her like a web, bouncing her back down on the roof top with painful force.
"The first rule of wind magic is think fast." The teacher answers disappointed. "What's the second rule of wind magic Emilio?" The teacher asks now turning to one of the boys.
-"Think smart!" He shouts quickly while cowering in fear of getting blasted.
-"Very good Emilio. Think fast and think smart, these are the two rules every aeromancer follows. To defeat our enemies we rely on smart positioning and our surroundings to get the most optimal results out of our spells. Let's begin practice."

Desmond and Ted practiced passing small gusts of wind between each other for the remainder of the lesson. With their teacher's instruction Things actually went very smooth for both of them. To handle wind magic you need a lot more precise force in bursts compared to fire magic where a gentle stream of magic is the trick. As Desmond pass the wind back and forth with Ted an idea came to him. I wonder what would happen if I tried doing fire and wind magic at the same time. Does it blend well? How would it look?

Location: Second floor, Lauzurus

The corridors are quickly filling up with pupils on their way to today's morning lessons. Desmond had his nose deep down his pamphlet looking for the fastest route to the fire magic classroom down on the first floor. Trance magic, metamorphism magic, aha! Fire magic. As Desmond approach the door he notice a young boy standing in front of the door looking at it with big eyes. He is younger than Desmond with brown short hair on top of his childish head. Desmond vaguely remembered seeing him yesterday when Jan distributed the keys.
-"Is there a problem?" Desmond asked nervously as he approached the boy, afraid that the lesson might be cancelled.
-"Huh? What?" Desmond's words seem to have snapped the boy out of his trance.
-"What are you doing just staring at the door like that? Is there a problem?"
-"Not at all! I just wonder how it looks like inside..." the boy responded with a dreamy voice.
-"Oh. umm, I'm Desmond by the way. Are you going to partake in fire magic class too?"
-"I sure am! My name's Ted, Nice to meet you!" The boy were a lot more energetic than Desmond expected.
-"So Ted, how about we find out what the classroom looks like?" Said Desmond as he slowly opened the door to peek inside.

The room is arranged in a peculiar way. There are no benches like an ordinary classroom would have but instead there were charred logs set up in a circle in the middle of the classroom around a fireplace, almost like a camping site. One of the long walls is covered in some kind of cloth and a blackboard is on the far wall next to a door leading to a back room. Many students already sit down on the logs, some that Desmond recognize from the group earlier. the two of boys sit down on one of the logs and simply wait for the lesson to begin. Suddenly a burst of flames and smoke appears in the middle of the group, scaring everyone present in the room. As the smoke disperses the group sees a man in his thirties wearing a long, short sleeved coat and round glasses standing there wiping soot from his face.

-"Sorry about that children! Jan had me take care of some nasty business so I was in a hurry getting back here." The man who presumably is the teacher adjust his glasses and look around. "Well would you look at that! There are so many new faces here today, eager to know the arts of magic. Junior students can practice in the back room while I take care of the newcomers." Four of the wizards stood up and walked through the door beside the black board. The teacher had a smile on his face as he picked up a notepad from one of his pockets and scribbled something quickly before putting it down again. "Welcome to Lauzurus school for gifted children fair pupils. My name is Jonathan Blaze and I'll be your teacher for this morning. I am very thrilled to see so many taking interest in the fiery element." He hopped over the logs and walked over to the blackboard. "As you may know there are four elements: Fire, Wind, Water and Earth. These make up the four magical elements that is featured in the Elemental Spectrum. It is a common misconception that fire is the most destructive element of the four. While a forest fire might seem intimidating it is nothing compared to a flood, a cyclone or an earthquake. Each of the elements has the power to create or annihilate. The winds move the world and the weather, water keeps us and all other life hydrated, the earth gives us a place to stay and cultivate and fire gives us warmth and light. What I mean to tell you is that you need a big perspective. The element complement each other, not the other way around."

When Jonathan had finished summarizing what he said on the blackboard he sat down with you and the other students. "Now with that out of the way let's get to the fun part, making fire." He closed his right hand gently. Carefully he opened it again and before the eyes of the class a flame burned brightly on his palm. "Fire need two things to burn: Air and fuel. Without air the flame will suffocate just like we do if we can't breathe. Without fuel the flame has no energy to burn just like we get tired." One of the boys in the class put up his hand to ask a question.
-"How come the flame can burn in your hand without hurting you? If the fire need fuel wouldn't your hand burn up?" That makes sense.
-"A clever question, but you forget what makes us unique. Wizards use magical energy also referred to as mana. By channeling mana I can let the flame use it as fuel instead of myself. Depending on how much mana I use or how I use it I get many different effects. It could be from a gentle flame like this one to an burning inferno!" The teacher stands up and violently throw the flame against the long wall. The once small flame turn into a roaring ball of fire smashing into the wall with impact enough to engulf the whole wall with incredibly hot blazes, heating up the room immensely. The fire however only last for a few seconds before dispersing into smoke. Desmond somehow got the feeling that this was only a small display of his teacher's power.

"Now how about you try lighting a flame. Spread out on the logs, make sure you don't sit too close to each other in case something bad happens." Desmond and Ted scoot away from each other. The teacher's spell had scared them closer to each other than they realized. The teacher instructed his class with some tips on how to "awaken your magic" as he called it. "Magic is part of everything, even yourself. You just need to find it! Focus on the tip of your finger as you snap them. Try imagining the flame, how you light it and the warmth it gives. If that isn't enough think of something that makes you angry, passionate or furious." Memories flash through Desmond's head as he focus on lighting his index finger. Suddenly it was as if everything fell into place, as if a sixth, seventh and eighth sense came to be. Smiling he open his eyes to find his whole arm burning. Panicking he flails his arm around trying to put out the fire. Jonathan quickly rush over to Desmond. He grabbed Desmond's hand and let the class witness as the flames burn over to his arm where they rapidly burn out. "It would seem as the spirit is willing, but the mind is weak." He said with an inferring tone. A bit embarrassed Desmond look down but inside he were as happy as he could be. He actually preformed magic! For the remainder of the lesson Desmond kept practicing on controlling the flame until he were able to keep a gentle flame still on his finger. Ted also managed to awaken his magic, the happy shouting was a dead give away. In the end it was only the two of boys who had the skill to awaken their magic. "Well done boys! I don't expect anyone to awaken their magic on their first lesson in magic, but you did it none the less! Now everyone before we end today's lesson I just want to let you know that with the power of magic come responsibility. Even if it's tempting to burn down every obstacle or blow up every problem remember to think about another solution. A grand perspective makes a grand wizard." Before Desmond and Ted left class Jonathan gave them a few candles each which they could practice their fire magic on. As soon as the two boys got outside Ted burst right out without thinking of anyone else.

-"We're fire mages Desmond! Wooo!"
-"I guess we are!" He knew there was still a very long way to go, but it was more fun playing along. With wide smiles Desmond and Ted begin looking for the dining hall. It didn't take long before they found the line stretching all the way out the corridors. To pass the time while waiting to get their lunch they had some small talk between each other. "So Ted which lesson are you going to attend next?"
-"You know I always dreamed of being able to fly, so I'll go with wind magic! How about you Desmond?"
-"Hmm..."

Auron opened the door to the Demonology classroom with confidence. Many students have already found their seats by the benches but there were still many free for the boy. Compared to the other classroom it has a damp red atmosphere to it, several glowing inscribements are made on stone tablets that hang on every wall and blinds are covering the windows. A puff of red smoke appears by the blackboard and a tall man in a ragged black suit steps out of it. He has short black hair and a well kept mustache.
-"Good morning conjurers." He talks with a buttery voice, smiling and showing off his sharp teeth. "Master wants me to take care of you for this semester, for those who don't know me I am called Tohrd."
-"Why can't master Krautz attend to his lessons?" An older student stand up and asks, sounding somewhat sniffy.
-"That's none of your business Joalyn! Sit down or I'll slit your throat." Though the teacher's words sounded very intimidating she simply sat down with a huff. "Would Auron Zecane be so kind and get over here, the rest of you can find tomes in the lower cabinet. Read up on the chaos pattern and its' pitfalls."
As asked Auron walks up to his teacher by the desk. Every student in the room judged him intensely as he walked slowly to the rostrum.
-"How do you know my name?" Auron ask curiously.
-"Your father told me to expect you, follow me."

Tohrd leads his new student through a door to a smaller room behind the classroom. This room has no windows so it's even darker than the classroom. The only source of light are a few candles placed on a table against the wall. Unlike the other rooms Auron had been to this one is exclusively made out of stone bricks. "Lets sit down." Tohrd sits down on the cold floor and the boy follow his example.
"I sense that you have not awakened you magic yet, which must mean your father haven't taught you anything yet, right?" Auron nodded as he recalled his father's words. I will not teach you any magic Auron. I have far more important things to do than watching you fail at dangerous crafts. "I see. The magic community doesn't frown upon any kind of magic, however the common folk and many of the religious does. I am glad you wanted to give this particular school of magic a shot despite the pain it must have brought you."
-"How come you know so much about me?" Auron was kind of bugged out by that fact.
-"People know who you are Auron, some more than others though. Don't forget that. Anyway let's begin with awakening your magic. I want you to search for your inner flame. Focus and try to make your blood spin." Tohrd's instructions were very vague but Auron gave it his best shot. He closed his eyes trying to look deep within himself and strain every fiber of his body. It was almost as if a plug came loose because suddenly the boy went wild screaming and covering his head. There was so much power flowing through the young boys body, it burned through every vein as it flowed along his overly rapid heartbeats. Auron felt as if his eyes were about to pop, his ears rang and puke were streaming out his mouth. After a good minute of intense pain and vomiting Auron's body finally calmed down.

"It would seem as you got some of your mother's powers too!" Tohrd laughed as Auron sat back up wiping some bile from his mouth.
-"What do you know about my mother!?" The boy snapped at his teacher.
-"Apparently more than you. We're done here for today Zecane, take a long break to recover and get some lunch. I'll see you soon." The teacher finished with a very sinister smile, licking his lips playfully. Weak Auron left the classroom and walked toward the dining hall through empty corridors. He sat down on a bench just outside the doors to the hall and thought about what just happened. Your mother? She gave her life so that you could live. You'll never meet her or hear of her, but know that she'll always be a part of you. Auron sighed as he thought about it. Sometimes he felt that his life were more mystery than living. Restless he picked up his pamphlet, thinking about what course he would attend next.

Julius walked around the school feeling a bit lost after he lost track of his love. Strange this map must be wrong or something. He kept walking until he eventually came back to the classroom he had just been in only to realize that he was supposed to be in the same classroom again. he did a mental facepalm and entered the classroom again. During his little stroll the classroom had once again filled up with students, though this time not only new students who were from your batch of freshmen. There is no sign of a teacher so you simply take the same seat again and sit down. Soon enough Jan enters the classroom and sits down behind the rostrum.
-"I'm sorry for being so late. But there was important business to take care off. I'm glad to see so many new student in this class, modern wizards tend to neglect the power of common knowledge. For today's lessons we're going to talk about the ruling of our land Swedium. The amount of people who don't know how our country is ruled is frighteningly low.

Swedium is a religious monarchy, that means we have one king who rule us all. This king is elected through a voting among the leaders of nine religious groups: The Bastion of Grace, Wings of Hope, Chevaliers de Cartes, Light's Parish, the Sect of Fantasia, the Niehres, Holomer's circle and the Seers of Twilight. Once a king is elected he sits on the throne until the day he die or abdicates."
-"Can't these religious groups elect a queen instead of a king?" A girl asks way in the back of the classroom.
-"A very good question young! There is no such law that would forbid the nine groups from electing a female to lead our country, but it has never happened even once in our history. Now our ruling king is Viktor Boron, Mattheus Boron's only child. Mattheus was our old king and there is something really important here that you need to know. Mattheus Boron is deemed to be the strongest king we ever had to rule Swedium. He had the strength of one thousand men, the charisma of an angel and the magic of an elf. eighteen years ago he joined an expedition to find a new land on the other side of the great seas but he never came back. His disappearance spurred a new threat to rise and we needed to elect a new king quickly to lead our land. The nine decided to elect the king's son, believing if he only was half as strong as the former king he would suffice to lead us through the coming crisis. He however was not and led our land into dire times, we barely recovered even today."

-"So what happened that was so bad? Shouldn't we know if this event was so decisive to our lands history?" The boy in front of you ask.
-"Demonic usurpers attacked from inside the capital, threatening the integrity of our land. If it wasn't for the king's bodyguards, the legendary seven, our country would've looked a whole lot different today. Perhaps it wasn't a direct damage to our land, but what happened in the capital would indirectly weaken the country and spread an unrest among the other nobles and the bigger religious groups. There isn't many who knew exactly what happened in the castle and that is why so many don't know why our country look like it does. Speaking of the legendary seven, they are the king's closest bodyguards. These seven wizards is extremely strong and together they are invincible! The only one who ever were strong enough to have a chance against the seven would be our former king. Our current ruler Viktor though is a very weak king. He lack the attributes of a ruler and most of his work is done by his bodyguards."

For the rest of the lesson Jan talked about even older rulers and their deeds. Apparently the king need to meet some certain criteria to be elected by the nine groups. He need to be strong enough to defend his country on his own, He need to be able to speak directly into the hearts of the people and he need to be born in Swedium.
"Tommorow we'll talk about the other countries and our relations with them. Now go and get some lunch." Julius left the classroom, feeling a bit smarter than he did before, this was important knowledge after all. As he got to the dining hall the line had already grown all the way out to the corridors.
-"Hey Julius! Over here!" Julius spot Desmond jumping and waving a him. Awkwardly Julius squeeze himself through the line to reach Desmond.
-"Thanks for keeping a spot for me Desmond." The Nord gives the boy a smile.
-"No problem! So how did your first lesson go?"
-"Good I suppose, can't say it was very intense. How about yours?"
-"It was perfect, look at this!" Desmond snapped his fingers and lighted a small flame on his fingertip.
-"You already know magic? That's impressive!" Julius hadn't thought much about this Desmond boy, thinking he was weak. But this had changed his perspective a bit.
-"How come you're so tall and muscly?" Julius look down and find a short and young boy staring up at him.
-"And who are you supposed to be?" Julius said mockingly.
-"That's my new friend Ted, he also awakened his magic!" Said Desmond as the two boys fistbumped.
-"So tall guy, what kind of class are you going to take?" Ted asked Nord.

Zecane pushed his back against the wall as he broke his the letter's seal. A faint cry could be hear from the the letter as the purple wax cracked open. Father and his safety measures... Auron rolled his eyes as he pulled out the written paper inside. Desmond tried getting himself a peek at the letter but Auron sat too far up in his bed that trying to look would seem very improper.

My son...

I hope you understand that sending you to Lauzurus is the only reasonable thing to do.
I can no longer sit idly by playing your baby sitter while there is plans to put in motion.
Mahrti can take care of the manor perfectly fine without you. However don't think that you'll get freedom
to do whatever you want just because I'm not there to scold you.
You're going to read up on dark magic and demonology magic during your studies there.
If you feel that two elements isn't enough read up on corruption and galaxial too.
I expect you to behave and follow the rules, play nice or you might get someone killed. After you're finished
with the initiation seek out Tohrd the demonology teacher, you can trust him.
I will come and visit you once I have finished my business with sir Roland to make sure you're following my instructions.
Don't disappoint me Auron.

Your father, Gregory Zecane

Auron rolled his eyes as he put down the letter. This had been exactly what he had expected. Desmond noticed this and sat down on his own bed looking at Auron.
-"What did it say?" Desmond asked concerning seeing the black haired boy's frown.
-"What?" Auron responded a bit wronged.
-"The letter, what did it say?"
-"None of your business!" Auron hissed before putting the letter back in his bags.

-"So James Brightshield was it? Quite a holy name." The two boys turned to see Julius walking up to the blonde boy to shake his hand. "You come from a strong family?"
-"I like to believe so. We're righteous and devoted, something I would call strong. I assume you're Julius Frost? Sounds like the name a Nord could have." James voice were proud and steady.
-"I am. We're you from?" Julius answered rather short.
-"Hjyrdia south of Henrybourgh. I used to be homeschooled but my parents had to leave to fight in the crusade in the north. You if someone know what that's about."
-"Then you're strong like you said. Driving away the vampires' blight is nothing for the weak."
-"Wait! Vampires? Crusade? What are you two talking about?" Their conversation had been very alien to Desmond who now were very intrigued.
-"You don't know our country is fighting against the vampires in the north?" James ask back. Desmond simply shook his head as response. "That means you're not very religious then. Many who believes in the gods have traveled north to stop the vampires living there from spreading further and eventually reach our lands. A holy mission so to say."
-"Ooh.."
-"It's getting late. We should get plenty of sleep like Jan told us to." Julius ended the conversation. It had gotten dark outside already, a sign that autumn is right around the corner.

Monday 04:30
Location: Cottage 81 blue

The sudden loud tunes of a trumpet woke up the four boys. They looked at each other equally displeased by the wake-up call. Drowsy Desmond walk to your window and see Jan outside with a bunch of sour children. The boys quickly got dressed and stepped outside to meet the new day. Jan picked up his book upon seeing them, flipping through it.
-"Looks like everyone is gathered now. Follow me children, we are going to the school." Jan takes the point and the rest follows. It seemed as wizard didn't like to wake up early just as everyone else. Not a single person could be seen except the group led by Jan. For the first time the new students enter the school. The inside was just as dull as the outside, long corridors stretch with only doors and some benches to sit on. However there were a few windows revealing that the inside of the school had a park. There wasn't anyone there though to enjoy the many flowers and trees planted around a beautiful paved path. The group followed Jan up to a classroom on the second floor. The classroom is very plain, there are school benches placed in neat rows and a blackboard at the other end of classroom complete with a rostrum. Along the walls is some locked cabinets most likely for schoolbooks or tomes.

-"All right children, take your seats and make yourself comfortable because we are going to be here a while."
Groaning the class settles down, steeling themselves for the incoming information.
-"First of I will explain how our system works here at Lauzurus. As the most respectable magic school in the world we offer lessons in every known magic element and spectrum. We also offer other useful lessons such as general education or crafts. There will be two lessons every day except Sundays. Which course you choose to take part in is completely up to you. But you need to take part in lessons once every weekday morning. Classes start at 08:00 and 14:00. Between 12:30 and 13:30 we serve lunch here at school, if you want to eat other meals it's up to you to fix them."
-"What!?" A boy stands up looking very upset. "Do you mean the school only gives us lunch!? How are we supposed to get breakfast or dinner?"
-"Settle down Klaus!" Jan bursts out with a pondus you didn't expect from his old voice. The boy who is apparently named Klaus sits down a bit startled. "You are wizards now children, if you can't get your own food how are we supposed to entrust you with magic powers? Anyway o make everything easier we have prepared a pamphlet for you. It contains a map, a list of all courses you can take and the general rules of our school." Jan walks around the classroom giving every pupil a copy of their own. He then proceeds to write all available courses on the black board.

The class sits silent waiting for him to continue but nothing happens during several minutes.
"okclassisoverremembertopickacourseforthismorninghaveagooddaybye." Jan runs out of the classroom leaving his class in utter confusion.
James walks up on his desk and attract everyone’s attention.
-"You heard the old man, pick your course for this morning and get going."

Desmond dropped his bags and took a breather to calm himself. He had never seen a Nord before, he barely knew how they looked. But if someone would be a Nord it would be him. Tall and faint, armed to the teeth, the Nord was very intimidating to the poor little boy. Taking a look around Desmond notice a lonely boy with long black hair dressed in fine clothes. He seems different from the rest. Perhaps he'd like a smoke?

Auron ran his finger over the purple wax seal nervously. Let's get this over with... He thought but just as he were about to break the seal he heard someone speaking to him.
-"Hello!" Auron looked up and saw a boy in his own age talking to him while fiddling with something in his pocket. Without answering Auron looked down at his letter again.
"Uhm.. Would you like a smoke?" Desmond continued a bit nervous by the black haired boy's uninterested behaviour. Irritated Auron was forced to look up at the boy again who now was offering some kind of brown stick.
-"No." Auron answered bluntly before looking down again. No wonder this boy sits all alone... Desmond thought defeated.

The group went completely silent as something finally happened. From the woods came an old grey bearded man walking up to the group. He's wearing a red robe with orange patches all over it, the robe almost seems as worn as the man who is wearing it. He shuffles forward in his sandals until he is in front of the group.

-"Welcome apprentices to Lauzurus school for gifted children!" He spoke with a shaky voice. "I for one am very happy to see so many new pupils wanting to take on the wonderful craft of magic. My name is Jan and I'm in charge of taking care of all the new pupils here at the academy. If you would be so kind and follow me I'll show you to your cottages."
The group picked up their things and began following Jan along a wider path leading to the woods. Julius hurried to take a spot in the middle of the group. From there he could watch as the shy girl's beautiful red hair swayed alluring as she walked. The group did not have to walk for long until another clearing appeared, revealing the school campus. It looked as if someone had sprinkled cottages all over the places, there were so many! The labyrinth-like placement of houses made it very confusing to navigate here but Jan didn't seem to hesitate when he turned around the nooks. the group stopped at a larger open space where Jan picked up a book hanging from his belt. He quickly flipped through it until he reached the page he wanted.

-"I'll be giving you your keys now. You'll get over here when I call your name. Boys will be getting the blue keys and girls will be getting the red. You are not allowed to switch keys with each other or sleep at another person’s house. Disobeying the rules will be met with punishment." The old man then proceeds to call out names of various boys and girls who walks up and get their keys. Everyone looks fascinated at Jan who seemingly creates keys from thin air.
"Desmond Glover, Julius Frost, James Brightshield and Auron Zecane." Jan called out. Upon hearing Zecane Desmond flinched. That boy I spoke to is Zecane!? No, he can't be. How can someone as young as him be named the betrayer? Desmond's thoughts got interrupted by Jan's voice. "Your cottage will be eighty one blue." He said as he handed four copies of the blue keys evenly among the boys.

When everyone had received their keys Jan closed his book and looked up with a smile on his face.
-"Feel free to do whatever you want for the rest of the day. I recommend you make yourself at home in your new cottages. I'll wake you up early tomorrow morning so make sure you are well rested. Have a pleasant evening!" Jan walked past everyone and back to the school without even leaving any instructions on where you are supposed to find you new homes.

Together the four boys search for their new home in silence. However their minds are full of thought.
Beauty, I know the name of beauty! Jenny, Jenny Redoak... His whole body trembled as Julius thought of her name. He had watched her walk up to Jan and receive her key. And I know where she live too! One hundred seventeen red...
This boy must be someone else, just some other kid unfortunately named Zecane. Or perhaps I should ask him? No that's silly. Desmond thought. He had overheard his parents talking about Zecane the betrayer back at home. He were supposed to be an awful man who betrayed his people for demons and monsters. But looking at this boy who is just as old as him Desmond couldn't help but be confused.
I'm in the same cottage as that weird boy and the tall one? Perhaps things will be interesting after all. Blondie here might have something special about him too. Zecane thought as he looked at the last member of the crew. He looked as old as the rest of the lot, with gold blonde hair reaching down to his chin. His face was handsomely shaped and he walked with a proud poise.

Eventually the boys would find their new home at the left end of campus. Desmond walks up on the porch and tries his key. With a creek the door opens and the inside is revealed. The room is pretty simple; four beds are lined against the walls, every bed with its own nightstand. Under the beds is room for your bags and there is also a potty there. A round table with chairs is placed in the middle of the room and there is a corner for cooking. Lastly there is an empty shelf, probably meant for school books. The four boys pack up their belongings, still not talking. When they were done making themselves at home the sun stood low orange shining brightly through the trees.

-Tales of Serttena-

Chapter I

Nervously Desmond kick his legs back and forth. Today is a big day for many reasons. It's his first time ever riding a horse carriage, it's his first day at school and it's his first time to be this far from home. But it is also the most exciting day for the same reasons. The driver whistles a cheery melody while he steers the carriage on small paths between pine and fern trees. Gazing at the strong after noon sun Desmond sees how the driver turn toward him.

-"Looks like we're here lad." He said giving the boy a wide smile.

He rides into a clearing and in front of him it lies, Lauzurus magical school for gifted children. At first the boy is filled with excitement to witness the oh so famous school, but he can't help feeling that the dull two levelled building doesn't make much of an impression. Actually the red brick building looked too boring to be true. The carriage stopped quite a bit away from the school doors where the driver helped him unload his bags. He were not alone to begin the new school year though, Many other children were waiting anxiously to be received, everyone with their own bags.

"You are on your own now lad, take care will you?" Desmond simply nodded at the driver in response.

Auron sat on his bags, bored to the bone. He had been here since mid day watching child after child arriving. Dull. Why do they all look so dull? He thought as he flipped his father's letter between his fingers. Though Auron were tempted to open the letter he knew it would only leave him bitter. His father seldom brought good news, but his letters never carried them. He sighed as he stood up, stretching his pale arms high. At least this is an opportunity to get away from the madness.

With curious eyes Julius had inspected the black haired boy. While the other students seemed excited or at least nervous this boy had played with his letter for an hour wearing a stone like expression. Only now had he moved, standing up stretching only to sit back down with his apathetic look. Tearing his eyes off the boy he noticed the curious eyeing from the rest of the group. After all, the Nord boy stood out quite a lot being a head taller than the rest and built like farmhand. Surprised Julius felt someone bumping into his rear.

-"Sorry!" Desmond squeaked as the taller boy looked over his shoulder. Desmond pulled his bags closer to him and hurried past the Nord quickly.
-"Don't worry about it." Julius answered looking at the nervous kid clumsily making his way into the group before turning his gaze back to the black haired boy. The group grew restless as nothing happened for many tens of minutes and so did Auron, Desmond and Julius as well.
