For the time being I think it's best if everyone in the party has just one character.

You bring up an interesting idea, but it conflicts with the way Pact magic works in this world (which summoning typically falls under). In order to use Pact magic you have to swear an oath (or be forcibly bound) to one patron. They then provide you with magic through their own otherworldly power. Typically betraying that oath is a very bad choice for a character to make.

Another potential avenue is shapeshifting (a form of Primal magic) which could allow you to turn into certain creatures. I just want to make sure that all characters are balanced out here, and fit well into the lore of the world. Though if you want a character with a card motif there are some avenues we can explore (poison cards, cards as projectile weapons, etc.)

Lastly, your character could actually be a Bard. Bard's sing or play instruments to aid in combat. So your character could potentially write hymns based on legends/heroes to grant themselves or allies abilities/buffs in combat. For example, a hymn/song about a mighty warrior may rally a downed teammate causing them to get back up and have increased strength.

Also, if you have a number of ideas please feel free to share them here or through PMs! I think it'd be nice to hear constructive input from everyone regarding the characters that will end up in the main party!

@Lionhearted
Awesome! Feel free to ask me any questions you might have here or through PMs!

@Artymis
No problem, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
I should probably also mention for our mage characters that the science of this world has studied you and your magic. There are preparations that can hinder you. One such example is an Erasure Ward- these babies come in three different tiers (Tier I, II, and III) and they can cancel spells of that same tier (I'll discuss each players abilities with them so if they have spells they'll know what tier a certain spell is).

This is meant to be more of a puzzle kind of thing rather than a means of keeping mages underpowered.
@Artymis

I believe so! A solid number of people expressed interest but I've only gotten a few character sheets so far (with one person not responding as of right now). So things are still really open! I'm also completely cool with allowing others that might not be able to join the main party, create quests for the main party and RP with them through that way (having guest RPers or interim GMs, if that makes sense).

The short answer is, yes, we're still accepting character sheets for the main party. I think everyone is learning really quickly how 'wordy' I can be, lol. Sorry, in advance.
I'm super excited as well! I'm anxious to see the party members! We've already got some really interesting characters
The Quest Log has been updated!

^Alternatively, this will appear above my next IC post whenever your party completes a major portion of a quest! I'll hopefully try to give a summary of how the mission was completed for your use later.
The Essential Ithean Atlas has been updated!

^So whenever someone in the party learns about a new piece of lore (discovering a new place, new faction, or character) the above notification will be posted above my next IC post. There's no pressure to check it right away, it's just a way of keeping you all notified when you've discovered something new! Hope this helps! If you all totally hate this idea I can scrap it.
@Frettzo

I was actually just about to message you! I didn't want to move it up there without making sure you were okay with it! I'll type of a summary and shoot you a message to see if it checks out

So, I've made the OOC! I don't want anyone to feel pressured to finish their character sheet immediately. I just wanted to get it up and done so that when everyone is finished you won't have to wait on me! Please feel free to check it out!

I also encourage everyone to take a listen to the song posted there. It's a super pretty song, and I thought it fit well! Let me know what you think
