The smell of coffee and freshly made pastries clung in the air, the breeze was mild, and the sun seemed to breathed some extra colour into the autumn leaves which littered the ground. It was a beautiful morning for this time of year, and Asuma was happy to soak up some sunlight (rather literally) as he made his way to ’Thanks a Latte’ to pick-up his phone. It was his day off work, but he couldn’t spend another 48-hours without his phone. Besides, he didn’t actually mind a coffee every now and then when he wasn’t the one making it.
“Hey! Watch it!” came a sudden yell from an irate, balding, middle-aged man as he was nearly taken off his feet by a couple of passing skaters. Not willing to give chase, the suited man merely waved his brief case around in anger, as if the small leather container would somehow put the fear of god into them. Asuma, who was walking in the opposite direction, simply just smirked at the spectacle and gave no notice as the aforementioned skaters zoomed past himself. Skaters were a fairly common site around Greencrest and the White Coast in general, yet a growing number of people seemed to be viewing them as a nuisance. Asuma was not one of these people. Although he’d never so much as stepped foot on a board, he found them interesting to watch. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t see any skaters around when he was living back up in Alaska so it was still a relatively new thing to him.
“They’re almost as bad as those damn meta-humans!” Someone else added, causing Asuma’s mood to suddenly drop. Rather than get himself into a confrontation, Asuma simply clenched his fists inside his pockets and carried on with an exacerbated sigh. It seemed that he couldn’t go one day in this city without hearing some anti-metahuman sentiment. Although it was something he’d learned to expect, it certainly wasn’t something he could accept. Feeling like most of the people around you hated you or were scared of you because the way you were born – it was isolating and devastating. Sure metahumans were dangerous, but then so were regular humans.
Casting his frustration aside, Asuma increased his pace to the ever-nearing coffee shop, reaching the glass door just as his co-worker Jennifer strolled out. He gave her a smile and a little wave but she didn’t appear to notice him, much to his embarrassment. For a moment he stood in the doorway and looked back to her, his eyes looking to the back of her blonde hair before briefly trailing down to her shapely bottom. He certainly thought she was attractive, but had only shared a few words with her due to them being on completely different shift patterns. He wondered whether their boss intentionally avoided having two metahumans on the same shift – it’d certainly make sense to given the tensions at the moment. Rather than standing there and staring at her like a creep, Asuma continued inside and was instantly greeted by cheeky grin. “Hey, what’s up Rexx?” Asuma said with a little nod as he approached the counter.
“It’s all goo-“ Rexx started before immediately being cut-off by their boss, Kenny.
“Asuma! Get behind the counter, I need you to work!” he ordered without so much as a hint of humour in his tone. Kenny was a stocky, roundish man in his late forties. His grey hair was badly receding and what was left was somewhat messy and untamed. Despite expecting the highest standards of cleanliness and discipline from his staff, Kenny’s clothing was often the dirtiest, often with various coffee stains and mysterious marks. He certainly wasn’t a bad guy - he was very tolerant, he paid a fair wage, and he was understanding of personal problems – but he was definitely a grumpy individual. Rexx always commented that he looked like a bulldog eating a wasp.
“haha good one, but I’m fine enjoying my day off.” Replied Asuma jovially, desperately hoping that Kenny was just being deadpan.
“I’m not joking. Jennifer's had to leave early so I’m short on staff. Get back here.” Kenny barked as he began scrambling for something under the counter.
“But I-“ Assuma only got two words into his objection before he was hit in the face by an apron. He made no attempt to remove it, and instead just stood there defeated for a few seconds. “Uuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… it’s not fair.” he moaned as he began walking round the counter, the brown apron still wrapped round his head. The low pitched wailing was loud enough to catch the attention of a couple of customers, who only briefly turned their heads before going back to their coffees and phones.
“If it makes you feel better, you’re welcome to come with me and a couple of mates to the Harvest Festival after work?” Rexx offered as he was preparing the next customers drink.
“Sure. Maybe I’ll finally get drunk enough to quit this job…”
Asuma stands at just under six-foot-tall and is of a reasonable lanky build. His muscles are toned but not overly large as a result of mostly stamina based training; his gym instructor says he has a ‘triathletes body’. Whilst his Japanese heritage is still distinct in his looks, his father’s semi-western genes have clearly had some impact, as he has a wider squarer jaw and paler skin like his father. His eyes, which he clearly got from his mother, always look sincere due to the way his eyebrows are naturally shaped. His black hair is always kept relatively short and is spiked up (or rather roughed up) at the top. Just below his hairline he wears his red and white paisley bandana which, along with the scar that stretches from his right cheek bone to the bottom right corner of his jaw, makes him easy to recognise. He tends to also sport a short neat beard, more as a result of his laziness than any fashion sense.
Attire:
The first thing most notice about Asuma is the headband he permanently wears. Its design is nothing particularly unique, it’s just a simple red and white paisley pattern. However, it has a lot of sentimental value to Asuma and so even if he has to take it off he’ll usually keep it on him or close by. Other than that you’re likely to find him wearing fairly loose fitting light clothing during the day, such as linen or silk shirts and shorts. This is because he’s still climatised to the artic weather from his time at Academy 218. In the evenings or when the weather gets colder, he’s likely to switch his shorts for a pair of jeans and add a jacket to the mix.
Personality
Innate & Outward Personality:
The first thing that most tend to notice about Asuma (after the headband) is how laid back he is. He’s the kind of person who doesn’t seem to put an awful lot of energy into anything he does on a normal day-to-day basis, especially where serving coffee is concerned. This often makes him appear bored, and again this is especially true where serving coffee is concerned. Whilst he can get pretty annoyed, he does his best to keep a calm exterior. This is perhaps more as a result of his training and is wish to keep his abilities in check than anything else. As both the kind of person who doesn’t like to be in the spotlight, and someone who’s very curious, he’s far more likely to sit back and listen than he is to talk. When he does talk he’s more likely to be asking questions than giving answers, though certainly not in a particularly assertive way.
Despite this, Asuma can be quite a motivated and serious individual, particularly when it comes to protecting others. With a strong sense of morals and ethics, he’s unwilling to stand by at watch when injustices occur, however small they may be. On more than a few occasions he’s called people out on their bs when they’ve been prejudice and displayed phobias of various types. As someone who wants to join RAVEN, he’s always looking for a chance to prove himself a hero – perhaps more to convince himself he’s capable rather than trying to convince anyone else.
Hobbies/Interests:
Swimming; working out; practising Wing Chun; clubbing; bowling.
Skills/Talents:
Good hand-to-hand fighter: Years of practising martial arts and keeping his body healthy have left him with the ability to defend himself. Whilst certainly far from the best fighter, and certainly not on the level of combat trained individuals, his use of light flashes to dazzle his opponents often gives him an edge.
Decent motorcyclist.
Inquisitive: Asuma has always been inquisitive, and often he’s more than willing to go poking his nose into places he shouldn’t. He’s gotten quite good at getting into trouble.
Stealthy: His curious nature has also led to Asuma gaining a penchant for sneaking around. Although sneaking around doesn’t exactly play to his strengths where his powers are concerned.
Some very basic Japanese: Asuma has picked up a little Japanese from his parents and can make a little conversation. Although he actually knows quite a few Japanese words, he struggles to string them together.
Goals/Motivation
Wants to join RAVEN and stopped events like Verthaven from ever happening again.
History/Bio:
In short, Asuma Obokata was born and raised in New York. He was sent to Academy 218 when he was eight, where he stayed until he was twenty. During this time he fell in love with a girl called Maria, who unfortunately was blinded by Asuma during a drug fuelled accident. Maria, unable to continue her studies, moved back to Verthaven where she was a victim in the disaster. Since then Asuma has had the goal of joining NEST (now RAVEN), but has been rejected entry on two occasions. He has spent the last two years living in Baybridge, working in a coffee shop.
Asuma Obokata was the second of three children born to Yamato and Reika Obokata, and their only son. His father, Yamato, is of mixed American-Japanese heritage and his mother, Reika, was actually born and raised in Japan before moving state-side. Both of his parents are stock brokers. The family was raised in New York City, and up until around the age of eight Asuma’s life was very average and uneventful. But it was around this age that his powers began to manifest and it became clear what his metahuman powers were. Short random uncontrollable bursts of lights were more than enough to dazzle and temporarily blind friends and family on a semi-regular occasion. Because Asumas parents wanted the best possible future for their son, given he was a metahuman, and wanted him to learn to control his powers, they decided to enrol him at an early age to an academy. Not willing to settle on any school however, they enrolled him to the prestigious Academy 218 off the coast of Alaska.
Whilst it certainly wasn’t an easy transition for any child to go through, Asuma quite well and fairly quickly, no doubt because he was lucky enough to make quite a few friends off the bat. The excellent support of the teachers went a long way too. By the time he reached his teens Asuma had gained a very good level of control over his powers, and reached a point where instead of simply knowing how to turn them on and off, was starting to experiment with them. It was also around this time that he started dating a girl called Maria Patel, a fellow student who had the power to ‘see’ smells and fragrances. Although they were still both quite young, they became inseparable.
Not long after Asuma turned fifteen, he and Maria managed to sneak off the island by hiding away on the ferry. They skived off school for an entire week so that they could fly to California and go to a festival, using money which they tricked their parents into giving them. It was at this festival that Maria brought Asuma his now trademark bandana, which he’s worn ever since. Unfortunately, it was during this festival, when Asuma was dumb enough to try some mysterious pills that he was offered, that a tragic incident occurred. Under the influence of some form of stimulant, Asuma got careless with his ability and ended up blinding Maria with a laser beam (think bad-ass laser pointer). Although the two of them were quickly taken to hospital, unfortunately it was too late to do anything to save Maria’s sight. Once NEST found out they promptly apprehended Asuma and sent him back to the Academy. Understandably Asuma was burdened with a tremendous amount of guilt and for a while stopped using his abilities completely. Maria on the other hand had moved back in with her parents in Verthaven while she became accustomed to her new disability. She still spoke to Asuma and claimed she still loved him, but unfortunately neither would ever get the chance to see each other again.
Seven years ago, not long after the blinding incident, another tragedy had a big impact on the lives of Maria and Asuma – the Verthaven Disaster. Still not completely aware of what happened, nor does he have any idea what happened to Maria, Asuma knows that the only girl he’s ever loved died in that fateful event. Although there was nothing he could have done, Asuma still carries with him massive guilt because he knows that had she not been blinded, she would have never been there. Not the kind of person to simply wallow in self-pity, Asuma has instead made it his life goal to join RAVEN and do what he can to stop such disasters from ever happening again. A naive and simple goal perhaps, but one that he can stick by.
Much to his continued annoyance though, he has now twice been rejected by RAVEN since leaving the academy. Both times he has been told that not only does he not have the right mentality and discipline, but they’ve cited the Maria incident as grounds to suggest he cannot be trusted with such an important role. Because of this he’s spent the last two years living in Baybridge, working as a barista in a coffee shop. He hopes that by being close to RAVEN HQ, he has a better chance of eventually getting recruited.

Abilities
Power Class:
Elemental
Power:
Light Generation Asuma is able to generate light from his body. Whilst he can theoretically shine light from any part of his body (no comment) he finds it much easier to focus energy through his hands. He is able to generate light of varying intensity and colour, depending on what the situation calls for. From acting as a human glow-torch in a dark-lit area, to pulsing intense light to blind his foes, there are a surprisingly wide range of applications. Using light in a more intense and/or focussed way tend to take more energy. For example, Asuma is able to focus intense infrared light in order to essentially cook his opponents, but this takes a massive amount of energy and will tire him out incredibly quickly.
Light Absorption The amount of energy required to generate light is relatively high, and it’s only because Asuma is able to absorb light energy that he can use his powers. Otherwise he’d probably have to stuff down a silly amount of energy bars in order to function. However, this means that his abilities are kind-of a catch 22, as the more light he’s exposed to, the more energy he will have. But the more light he’s exposed to, the less effective his powers are.
Laser Cutter Perhaps the most interesting and advanced application of his ability that he’s been able to use so far. By focusing a vast amount of light energy into a very small area he is able to make a tiny laser about an inch in length, which is able to cut through multiple materials including steel. The amount of energy and focus required means that at current, this application isn’t fit for combat at all. There’d be nothing stopping him from using it to break through a lock or something though.
Extreme Optic Conditioning His eyes seem to have a natural ability to adjust to extreme light conditions, otherwise he would have gone blind years ago.
Limits:
As previously mentioned, his powers can take a lot of energy and focus depending on how he wishes to apply them. And whilst he can absorb light energy, his powers are less effective when more light is present. For example his pulsating flashes are great at blinding opponents in dark areas, but out in the open in the middle of a sunny day? Not so much, not without using more intensity anyway. The light energy isn't something he can store ridiculous amounts of either, as if he takes in too much his body is unable to handle it and can potentially go into shock. He also is unable to bend light, so get yourself a parasol or some decent shades and you should be alright.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Indiscriminate Damage Whilst he can focus his light to a certain degree, it’s effects can often be fairly indiscriminate. On more than a couple of occasions he has temporarily blinded friends, family and colleagues; on one tragic occasion he even permanently blinded his girlfriend.
Radiation Burn Although Asuma seems to have a much higher tolerance to light radiation than most individuals, in great part because his ability to absorb it, he is certainly not immune to it. The more light energy he expels, particularly when focused in particular ways (e.g. when he uses his laser cutter), the more susceptible he is to the damage. Though he's never had any serious burns so far, that could be attributed to the fact that he's never been in a serious position where he's had to push himself. It should also be noted that whilst he's got a high resistance to light radiation, he's not got any particular resistance to standard heat radiation - so feel free to set him on fire.
Other:
He drives a bike which looks a lot like this: Honda CBR300R.
He has a fear of rats and, ironically, anglerfish.
He sometimes smokes when he’s under a lot of stress.
@Fat Boy Kyle Pretty good, I actually like this character. Only thing I want to note is that, while his power is fairly on the low end, I think he does need a weakness more than "can blind other people." lol
Fair haha
Any better now?
p.s. Is there anyone who my character should or is likely to know? That's not me failing to read through the OOC and CSs probably, it's just that there's a lot of information lol
How about this guy? I named him Sparkles - that means you have to accept him.

@Fat Boy Kyle Oh yeah, another concern that comes to mind is the fact that he can't exactly die. Whenever his host dies, he can just expel his parasites and inhabit another.
He's certainly able to cheat death more than most, but there's still plenty of ways to kill him:
Extreme conditions (e.g. really hot conditions or really cold conditions) will kill the parasites. So setting him on fire ought to do the job!
The parasites can starve when they are left without a host; so you could just kill Odin by making sure he dies in an air-tight room. Or make sure those fighting him are wearing hazard masks.
There's bound to be various chemicals and medicines which can kill him.
He can't eject mid-merge, so during the long merge process he's completely vulnerable. So unless he dies in a one-on-one fight with no one else around, this actually means he's still fairly screwed if he tries to merge in or after a fight.
Degenerative diseases and mental illness can screw him over.
To be honest though, I think that this character could perhaps be a bit too contentious. I think I'll withdraw the CS. No hard feelings I hope :)
@Fat Boy Kyle Hm... interesting idea, but this is getting a little close to "character control." I want to know your stance on him merging with other characters.
By other characters, I presume you mean player characters? If so, I'd be inclined to avoid it unless either: a) another player actively seems to want their character to be merged; or b) a player becomes inactive and their character is going to get killed off anyway. In regards to NPCs, I'd assume they'd be fair game as long as I was cautious not to screw around with other player's carefully woven stories and plots?
I know it's a weird one haha. I'd probably be reluctant to accept a character like that into one of my RPs tbh. But I thought I'd through it out there anyway :P
Finally finished! Not gonna lie, it's not my best CS but then it is quite hard writing one for this kind of inconsistent and complicated character. I know you've built quite the lore-rich world here, so my apologies if I've written anything which doesn't fit in.

Odin is currently merged in the body of Alex Westen, an agent of RAVEN. Alex stands at about 6ft1, and is of medium build with a very well-toned athletic body. Large biceps and pectorals shape the contours of his shirts and make him look rather attractive. His chizzled jaw and strong cheek bones only add to his appeal. A bastion of discipline, Alex was always clean shaven and his hair was always kept short, with his small fringe spiked up at the front. His skin is of a light olive complexion, more as a result of years of sunlight exposure than of genes. As such he has a few small light freckled doted around on his arms and beneath his eyes. Although Alex is in forties, he could pass as being ten years younger (that is until someone notices that he’s going grey). Whilst good-looking, there’s no real defining features that could help separate him from the millions of other brown haired male Caucasians out there.
Attire:
Like most RAVEN agents, Odin wears a special battle dress which is comprised of Kevlar, chain mesh, and so on, painted black with the RAVEN logo on it. As it's armor made to fight Metahumans, it's bullet resistant, heat, corrosion, impact, and electricity resistant. They're not invulnerable, but they can take a bit of punishment. Over the top of this he wears Alex’s long black overcoat which has his rank and insignia stitched onto the shoulder. Odin prefers not to wear a helmet unless the situation calls for one. He has two pistols on his chest holsters, and carries a variety of RAVEN gadgets with him.
Outside of posing as a normal RAVEN agent, what Odin wears tends to depend entirely on the host and the situation.
Personality
Innate & Outward Personality:
Odin is a merge of 7 different people. As such it’s fair to say that his personality has changed considerably over the course of time. With each new merge his personality changes (sometimes very little, sometimes a lot). At the moment, as has been the case with the last couple of merges, Odin is a rather reserved individual. He is too focussed on his own goals to be socially active in any way. Given the nature of his power, it’s also very hard for him to maintain existing relationships (to put it lightly). Whilst he is very empathetic as a result of his lifetimes of experience, he does his best to suppress his emotions and prefers at the moment to try act on logic and reason. Whilst not psychopathic, Odin is willing to hurt and kill people to meet his goals; what guilt he feels he crushes deep down.
Because Odin’s personality is now a lot more stable now, he finds it much easier to mimic the personality of the people he’s merged with. Meaning he’s able to merge with individuals without their friends or family realising what’s happened.
Hobbies/Interests:
Odin has little time for hobbies. Although throughout his lives he has taken part in a very large variety of hobbies. When he does find himself with some spare time he might be caught reading, practicing hand-to-hand combat, shooting at a range, or generally working out. These hobbies are of course less about having fun, and more for the sake of personal development.
Skills/Talents:
Perhaps his greatest strength comes purely from the massive amount and range of experience he collates. Having merged with multiple individuals, he has a lot of skills:
Advanced combat training: He has merged with both a British Military Police Captain and a veteran Nest/Raven agent. As such he has excellent hand-to-hand combat skills, firearms training, and general battlefield experience. Given that he has increased cognitive functioning, he is able to react quicker than most individuals, given him an added edge.
Driving: Odin can drive cars and a variety of various military vehicles to a decent standard.
Hacking: Dominic, the original host, was too physically impaired to live a ‘normal life’. Instead he spent most of his time behind a screen, and as such picked up some things. He’s also picked up some things from his time as a Raven agent.
Free running: Sophia, the frost-wielding meta-human that Odin was briefly merged with, was an accomplished free-runner and thief. Although it depends to some extent on the host body, Odin is capable of quickly traversing a variety of terrain.
Bilingual: Odin can speak English, Spanish, some Japanese, Mandarin, and Latin.
Medical knowledge: Odin has previously merged with Dr. Kingslee, an epidemiologist and a previous GP. He also has some combat first aid experience from the soldier and RAVEN agent that he’s merged with.
Goals/Motivation
Odin’s primary goal is to learn more. He wants to merge with the brightest people and become the smartest person alive. Although not as big of a goal, Odin also wants to find the best possible body for himself; preferably an impressive metahuman so that he can defend himself against possible threats. Other goals come and go, depending on the circumstances of the time and who he’s merged with.
History/Bio:
In short, the entity known as Odin was born when a Metahuman named Dominic died and his parasites merged with a doctor named Kingslee. The symbiotic parasites infused the memories of the two individuals together. Since then Odin has merged with several others: A British Soldier named Jordan; A metahuman named Sophia; A professor of Sociology named Abigail; A pharmaceutical businessman named Kai Yun; and a RAVEN agent named Alex. As such he is incredibly smart and incredibly skilled. At current he wishes to steal data from RAVEN and learn more about Metahumans in the area so he can better prepare/defend himself and potentially find a new body to merge with. His long term goal is to simply gain more knowledge by merging with the brightest individuals he finds.
Why the name Odin? Well they say the Norse God sacrificed his eye for knowledge. Perhaps a fitting name when you consider this character sacrifices entire bodies for the same purpose. Probably worth noting that although Odin might be referred to as ‘he’ when he is in a male body, he might be referred to as ‘she’ when in a female body. In reality Odin no longer recognises his own gender, sexuality, or race, having lived as a variety of people.
Dominic Ruth was born in Spain and was the only child of Jean Ruth, a single mother and prostitute. Dominic was the result of a customer who decided that he neither had to wear a condom nor pay for Jean’s services. Although Jean never wanted the pregnancy, she could never bring herself around to having an abortion. The father escaped both paternal responsibility and justice for his crime. To add insult to injury, Dominic was born with a genetic disorder called muscular dystrophy which prevented his muscles and body from developing as it should. As such he was bound to a wheelchair from a very early age. Growing up with severe physical disability, a single parent that he never connected with, poverty and a lack of friends, caused Dominic to develop a somewhat dark personality. Even as a child he was very cold and bitter at the world, an outsider in every sense. It was one of the many reasons he would end up spending most of his life behind a computer screen.
By the time he reached his late teens, Dominic had discovered that he was a metahuman. Or rather his doctors had discovered it. Around the time he turned fifteen anyone who came into close contact with him would wind up seriously ill. It was during tests that doctors found both energy typical of a meta, and the existence of multiple types of parasites crawling around and over his body. These of course were not visible to the human eye.
At first the local metahuman agencies tried to manage his powers by keeping him in isolation, and he spent two years in a plastic box. Unfortunately this was not to be a long term solution, and when Dominic started to show disturbing behaviour (or rather when he started to visit disturbing sites), the powers that be decided it would be best to euthanase him.
Dr. Kingslee Johnson was an American of Nigerian descent. His parents were bankers and he was privy to some of the finest education locally available as he was growing up. In adulthood he became a medical doctor, starting out as a GP but eventually he ended up specialising in Epidemiology. He had a beautiful wife named Tracey and bright young twins named Maria and Tyson. He was in his early forties when he travelled to Spain to attend a convention on Infectious Diseases in Metahuman Populations. It was following said convention that Kingslee came across Dominic, as a Spanish doctor offered him the opportunity to come and observe the abnormal case. Whilst it’s still not clear what exactly went wrong, safety protocols either were not followed or simply failed, and following the death of Dominic, the last of his parasites were able to escape contamination and find their way onto the clothing of Dr. Johnson. It wasn’t until the doctor was at the airport that the parasites eventually entered him and began to edit his brain. Imbued with the data from their original host, the parasites ‘added’ Dominic’s memories to Kingslee, effectively merging the two. And thus Odin was born.
As this was the first merge, it’s fair to say that this was a somewhat difficult and turbulent time. The experiences of Dominic and Kingslee were completely different and it was hard for Odin maintain a stable line of thoughts or a consistent temperament. Fortunately, the personality and traits of Kingslee, being much older and much more knowledgeable, were much more prominent that the traits of Dominic. It was to the point even that Odin still very much considered himself to be Kingslee. Unsure of what to do, ‘Kingslee’ simply sought the comfort and protection of his home. And so, he returned to his wife and children and tried to live a normal life. But as the months went on he found himself becoming more and more distant from his wife, who had noticed a change, and things began to fall apart. Even his children began to look at him like he was a stranger. It was the hardest thing he’s ever done, but Odin decided then to walk away and find some answers. And he was sure his British colleague would have some.
Jordan Maxwell was a British citizen and the oldest of two brothers. Of the two, Jordan was the ‘smart brother’ whilst his baby brother Carson was the ‘tough brother’. The two brothers, despite a 3-year age gap, were always best friends and it seemed like their futures were destined to be intertwined. Both joined the military at the same time, with Jordan joining as an officer out of university, and Carson joining as a regular soldier out of college. They had both been in the military 7 years when they found themselves taking some paid leave in London. It was when the two brother were visiting a historic landmark that they crossed paths with Dr. Kingslee Johnson. And although they never spoke, the incident known as the Trafalgar incident would throw them together.
Whilst certainly nothing as big as Verthaven, Overload or even the recent attack on Westminister, the Trafalgar incident certainly had a big impact on the locals at the time. What started out as a peaceful protest led by half a dozen metahumans, quickly descended into a horrific battle when anti-metahuman extremists attacked the event. Just under one-hundred lives were lost and many more were injured. It is still today seen as a big failing by the British Police and MISW, and is often quoted as a reason for imposing harsher monitoring and tracking onto metahumans. It was during this chaos that the body of Dr. Kingslee was destroyed and Odin was forced to merge with the body of Jordan Maxwell, who had been knocked unconscious during the fight.
This part of the story then gets complicated. To skip a lot of detail, ‘Jordan’ and Carson were deployed overseas and things went bad. Needless to say, the two brothers no longer get along and Odin went AWOL. After deserting the army, Odin fled to the USA.
Sophia LeMont was a runaway teen who fled to the city of Detroit after her step-father began to abuse her. Although she was a metahuman with the ability freeze moisture, she was never able to defend herself from the psychological torment that her step-father would use to overpower her. By the age of eighteen she had become a rather good free-runner and an even better thief. Mostly going for high-priced small items like jewellery, she had managed to earn a decent living (even if it was illegitimate).
It was when Odin witnessed the metahuman escape her pursuers by freezing the surfaces that she had travelled on, that he became fixated. He remembered how she appeared to be untouchable, and it was the first time that Odin had really considered purposely merging with another. Managing to track her back to her home, Odin snuck in to her room whilst Sophia was sleeping and ejected himself from the body of Jordan and merged with the metahuman. It was a new experience, given that Odin had only been male before, but was something he quickly came to terms with. What was really interesting however was that she was still able to use her powers.
Abigail Stringer was a professor of sociology at Standford University. She was a widow and had two children which had long since moved to different parts of the world to further their own careers. She was in her early sixties when she found herself in Detroit conducting a study regarding the differences in metahuman sympathy in different economic areas. It was when she was visiting the derelict city that she met Odin. Unlike all those who came before, Abigail actually offered to be a host to Odin and practically begged to be merged. To her, the idea of gaining lifetimes worth of experience and knowledge was simply outstanding. Equally curious, Odin agreed and merged with the professor.
Although this unfortunately resulted in Odin loosing Sophia’s abilities, much to his surprise, Odin still considers this to be his most important merge. It was only after merging with Abigail that he truly understood the power of knowledge and the infinite possibilities that his ability presented to him. It was also the merge with Abigail which resulted in his personality becoming much more stable, to the point that the two merges after have had very minimal effects on him. Odin spent a whole year in the body of Abigail, using the time to continue her research and become enthralled in the world of academia. It was only when the body began to experience worsening arthritis that Odin decided it best to move on to a younger body.
Kai Yun was a Chinese business man who was part of the Liu Pharmaceutical Company. This individual was not a particularly nice man and he had his fingers in a lot of pies. The less said about him the better, but needless to say that he opened Odin’s eyes to some of the global events that are occurring. Odin does not talk about this merge, preferring to keep some secrets to himself.
Alex Weston was a forty-two-year-old man. He originally started his career as an agent of NEST, but after it’s dissolving he joined up with RAVEN. Whilst certainly a promising agent, one who has spent years slowing climbing the ranks, he is not someone whose name is likely to ring any bells. He has not been involved any of the major events over the last few years, and he has only recently transferred to Baybridge. He has got more than enough experience though, and those who work directly under him can attest to his ability.
Wanting access to RAVEN/DOVE, Odin spent weeks stalking the agent before finally his move. Using stolen pharmaceuticals from the Liu Pharmaceutical Company, Odin was able to sedate the agent and kidnap him. After taking him to a safe location, Odin merged with the agent and has decided to try and mimic Alex as best he can for the time being. This was only a couple of days ago.
Relationships
Family:
As Odin is a mixture of multiple people, it has quite a big complicated family tree. A few of them are more note-worthy than others. Here’s a brief list in order of merged individuals:
Dominic Roths Jean Roths (mother)
Kingslee Johnson Tracy Johnson (wife) Maria Johnson (daughter) Tyson Johnson (son)
Cpt. Jordan Maxwell Sgt. Carson Maxwell (brother)
Agent Alex Weston Simon Joy (fiancé)
| Sgt. Carson Maxwell |
| {Mixed/Complicated} | {Brother/Rival} | "I don’t care where you are, or whose body you steal! I will find you! And I will fucking end you!" - Carson |
To Carson, Odin is the monster who killed his brother, stole his memories and hijacked his body. Add in the fact that Odin practically tricked Carson into killing multiple brothers-in-arms, and it’s fair to say that there’s a lot of hate there. Carson has vowed to kill Odin and there’s no limit to the measures he will take to do this. Odin still loves his brother however, and will avoid fighting him if possible.
| Maria and Tyson Johnson |
| Complicated | {Twin children} | ”I am not their father, but they are my children. As long as I have the memories of Kingslee, I will always love these children. But I cannot be a father to them. |
Odin was born the moment that Dominic’s parasites merged with Dr. Kingslee Johnson. It was early days and it was by far the hardest transition and experience that Odin (and his lives) have been through. As much as Odin, still in the body of Kingslee, wanted to be a father to Maria and Tyson, he couldn’t. The best thing that he could do was walk away. Odin still keeps tabs on the children from afar though, and will raise hell upon anyone that would dare hurt them.

Other
Power:
Biological Merging As weird as it perhaps sounds, Odin is no longer really a human, but rather a symbiotic parasite. Odin’s original body belonged to a boy named Dominic Ruth; a sickly child who had the ability to manifest parasites of varying nature. Following the destruction of Dominic’s body however, parasites imbued with his knowledge escaped his body and found a new host. Once in the new host, the parasites re-wrote the brain, implanting the old memories and effectively merging the two individuals. Odin has since learned that it is possible to eject itself from its host in search of another, killing the incumbent body in the process. As an added bonus, Odin has also realised that the parasites speed up the brain of the host, allowing them to think and react quicker, as well as recall memories easier.
Limits:
As things stand, Odin is only able to merge with one body at a time. Although even if Odin could merge with multiple people at the same time, he probably wouldn’t. The parasites cannot survive outside of a host for a long period of time, and as the parasites begin to die memories are lost. When the parasites enter a new body, the merging typically takes a couple of hours, during which time the body is unconscious; therefore, it’s not something Odin can realistically do whenever he pleases.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
As previously mentioned, the merging process can take a couple of hours. During this time the new body is left completely vulnerable. Although this power might seem to make Odin immortal, the reality is that the parasites can be killed in various ways, including chemical/medical treatment, starvation, and extreme conditions. Although it’s not been an issue so far, Odin is acutely aware that merging with certain individuals might actually have negative effects (e.g. if they merged with someone with degenerative diseases or severe mental disorders, it could ‘corrupt’ him).
Other:
Odin can merge with metahumans and use their powers. However, these powers are lost once Odin leaves the body.
Odin keeps items of emotional value hidden in a lock box in a secure bank. Examples include wedding/engagement rings, dog tags, and a picture drawn by one of his children.
Odin was inspired by a couple of characters, notably Dragon Age’s Justice and Agents of Shield’s Hive.
