Mikio

Tea Lounge

Donning a short-sleeved, white dress shirt and black pants with matching tennis shoes, and the contrasting apple-green apron emblematic of Tea Lounge, Mikio prepared to open the teahouse.

It was a matter of getting the kettles up and ready, scrubbing the milky quartz countertops of the tables and island table, and parting the curtains. As the drapes separated, morning light spilled over Mikio, painting the honeyed bamboo flooring a brilliant yellow hue. He paused, watching businessmen and women, senile sightseers and children running down the sidewalks, and a tired smile grew. Propping open the door with a weird bauble Shika bought in Europe, Mikio stepped outside. With a wet cloth in-hand, and a pastel blue piece of chalk in the other, Mikio set up the chalkboard stand and wiped off yesterday's cheery display.

Kneeling down, Mikio wrote:

Beautiful mornings are best paired with:
Fresh Coffee - 115 Yen (All Sizes!)
Teas (Chai, Dandelion Root, Matcha) - 250 Yen
Steamed Rice with Whole-grain Bun - 600 Yen
Miso Soup - 500 Yen

He finished the brief menu with a yellow sun at the bottom and stood, admiring the dainty curlicues of his writing-all gleaned from Shika. Mikio stepped back inside, setting aside the chalk and cloth. He tied his hair up into a short ponytail, stray locks of brown hair settling at his temples. He sat down at one of the tables by the door and waited.
@Fathomless
I do not, actually. I'm not sure I could find one, and even if I did all of us will be creating the Ward ourselves to an extent anyways.

I used an actual map of Tokyo's Ward 8 if that's okay haha.

@Old Amsterdam Thanks! Do you have a map of Ward 8 at all?
Estelle Bennett

  • Location - Salem (Ace's Diner)

Thud. Thud-thud.

Estelle promptly dropped her luggage, its weight straining the old woman’s frail arms and cramping her gnarled fingers. A sigh slipped from between her ruddy lips. Beginning to feel the waxing sun’s heat build on her head and the nape of her neck, Estelle shrugged off her shawl and wrapped the bricolage of sewn patterns and colors around her head and neck, into a rather comfortable headscarf.

Brushing aside stray tresses of wispy hair, Estelle’s eyes wandered to a towering church several feet from her. Despite its peeling, dilapidated exterior, the place of worship donned a rustic appearance which she could not help but admire. It was a welcomed contrast to the unappealing buildings of Diamond City, which were either an assemblage of scrap metal or a dismal skeleton of one—picked dry by the many scavengers in the area. As Estelle’s gaze drifting upwards, towards the steeple of the church, a vibrant red sign caught her attention.

Set ablaze against the sun, the sign drew her towards Salem’s diner, suitcases and purse again in her hands. As she approached, Estelle noticed a woman leaving the diner, the sounds of chatter following her out.

As she approached the eating house, Estelle felt nervousness snake through her. She paused at the door, lips pursed. She quietly wished she had brought Lady Luck with her. The grizzled mutt had been Estelle’s companion for years, and she had left Lady back in Diamond City with her friend Constance. Though it scared her to admit it—to even think about it—Estelle planned to eventually die here, and did not want to damn Lady out here to suffer the same fate. She knew the dangers in rural Commonwealth were very real, and the safety of the city would guarantee Lady a pampered life. That was what Estelle wanted for her dog.

Bags in hand and headscarf framing her wizened countenance, Estelle stepped into the diner.

  • Location - Commonwealth Road

Though the war-marred lands of former Massachussetts never fostered much of an idyll scene, Estelle could not help but feel disappointed by the lack of beauty. In the wake of cataclysmic war—the vestiges of which being gelded, charred trees, ugly shrubbery and barren soil—what was now called the Commonwealth had progressed very little in terms of flora and fauna reappearing. All that caught the senile woman’s bespectacled eyes while she sat in a brahmin-pulled cart were the occasional scuttering of animals and the sick, tallowy sky above her.

The recoiling bumps of the cart had kept Estelle awake for most of the journey from Diamond City to Salem, six hours yonder. The man who owned the cart and cattle, a hulking mass of muscle with leonine hair named Russ, offered enough company to keep her spirits up, making small talk with Estelle as she sat bundled up in a thin blanket and wedged between what little belongings she brought. Admittedly, Estelle was apprehensive of the muscular cart-driver initially, for she had only met him today. As they ventured further away from her home of old, however, Estelle felt only relief for having a capable man guiding her. The skulls and remains of less lucky travelers they passed quickly dispelled any distrust.

“We’re here, Ms. Bennett,” came the virile voice of Russ. Estelle’s body jolted upwards and she craned her blanket-cocooned body around to see.

“Well, certainly what I was expecting,” Estelle quipped. From her view, the small town did not seem to boast very much.

Perhaps it is better that it doesn’t.

The cart halted southeast of the settlement. Unwrapping the blanket from around her, Estelle's feet touched the dusty ground for the first time since leaving the city.

  • Location - Salem

After paying Russ and bidding him a safe travel back, Estelle hobbled into Salem, her shawl draping her shoulders and suitcases occupying both hands and the crook of her left armpit. She had sent a courier down to Salem two weeks ago, and after an additional fortnight of waiting for a reply she assumed her messenger dead and decided, to her distaste, to simply come unannounced to the town.

Peering about the area, Estelle cursed herself for having the impatience of her father.

Let me know if there are any lore errors. Not too content with how she heard of the town/getting there/etc. so I might change that.
Hey :) do you think there would be much room for development for an elderly character? I'm thinking a woman nearing her late 60's. How could/would she fit into this storyline? I've played Fallout 3 and Fallout Shelter but I'm not too versed with the lore, so any suggestions would be awesome.
@Member 00492 sounds like a plan, sorry for not submitting an application yet, I'm very new to Marvel and I'm struggling with making a villain whose evil is at least explainable and not so trite.
