Kaden found himself in a relatively familiar position, checking over his shoulder crouched down in front of a door, lock picking kit open on one knee, with an anchor in his left hand and the delicate pick in his right, however now it was no longer police or homeowners he was looking over his shoulder for, it was now the gimps, bandits, and with a grim chuckle he mentally added that you had to check for 'police' in several places where some psychopaths had decided to put on police uniforms and hunted both gimps and people alike, bolstered by their own sense of false superiority.
He shook himself and, after reassuring his paranoid mind that no gimps or human adversaries were approaching, he returned his attention to the lock. He felt the last tumbler click and with a smooth, practiced motion turned both hands to unlock the door. Sure it might have been easier for him to simply break open the door with his crowbar, however the risk to that was making lots of noise and not having the ability to lock the door behind him.
Kaden slowly opened the door, tucking away his lock picking kit in one of his coats multitude of pockets and sliding the crowbar from out if his belt. At this point caution was key, gimps were only truly a threat if they got you pinned tight without room to navigate, or if they came at you in such numbers that there was no room. So in theory so long as Kaden was vigilant and didn't let himself get trapped, he should be fine.
As the door swung open he could hear the ragged, soft moan and his nose picked up the decrepit smell that alerted him to the fact that there was at least one gimp. He entered, moving the crowbar in front of him, holding the straight end in a kendo grip, the curved tip facing out, his feet spread slightly, forming a decent stance. As the first gimp came around the corner Kaden raised his weapon and in a swift movement eliminated the opponent. He removed the crowbar with a smooth movement, and kicked the gimp back out of the way.
More moans. That meant at least one more gimp. He advanced carefully stepping over the first ones recently decimated skull. As he walked around the corner of the small entry way he entered a shared kitchenette and living room area, a small box TV opposite a sofa and a counter creating a semi separated space. Behind the counter stood what used to be a woman by the look of it, wearing the remnants of a nice skirt, blouse, and blazer, the woman had probably been getting ready to head to work, the first one, maybe a boyfriend? Husband? Kaden shrugged off the thought, and with a smooth motion, brought the curved end of the crowbar into the gimps skull.
Kaden moved both corpses out of the apartment and down the hallway, towards the opposite end from the stairs, no reason to put them in his direct way from the exit. He checked that the apartment had a fire escape, there was one right outside the window as he was only on the second story. He quickly pulled the ladder up, no reason to give easy access to the room he was in either.
After ascertaining a relative level of security, he moved the bed from the single bedroom and heaved it against the door, making sure no one would have easy access, he then rifled quickly through the cupboards, avoiding opening the fridge and freezer combo, since he could already pick up the slightest sent of decay, no use making the apartment reek of decayed produce for nothing. He scored two cans of peaches and a tin of instant coffee from the cupboard, all in all a decent grab.
He chuckled to himself, this town might be called Slidell, and the world may have gone to hell, but here he was, doing the same breaking and entering as he had back home in New York, albeit with some... minor, adjustments.
Keeping my very American nose out of the gun debate, working on my post for the IC, sorry for taking so long, I crashed last night.
I'm currently just being a lurker mclurkinster, will post probably within the next few hours
Waiting on wing and Gisk to post responses to Rose
I don't think Sarge has posted about who has actually made it into the rp yet, and it hasn't started yet.
I'm down to be in a group
I think Sarge said Monday?
-Connor-
"No worries, I kinda got here as fast as I could on purpose, you know, to beat everybody." Connor laughed, a short semi self-deprecating laugh seeing as he had rushed so much that he had even beaten the person who needed to open the door, "And can I get a cream soda with mango ice cream please?" He asked with a large grin.
As he finished his order and was going to fish out a bill to pay, he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. He pulled it out to check and saw it was his uncle calling, he looked apologetically to Rose, handed her a twenty dollar bill and answered, "Hey Uncle Mikey, what's up? Oh, oh crap I hadn't even thought of that, yeah, yeah. I'll go with her, crap, yeah, give me a sec and I'll head down to the nest."
He looked up to Rose, "Can I actually get that to go? The council made a point, I have to swing by the D'finn nest to escort one of the younger kin to the police station." Connor had a sudden realization, "You're D'finn too. Uh, I hate to ask this, I know you don't really like to hang out with the D'finn much, but I would feel better if I didn't leave you here on your own, would you mind locking up and coming with me? You could text Auntie J, I'm sure she'd rather I not leave you alone either."

-Roland-
Roland chuckled when Kira dodged to the side, "Well it sounds like you had fun," he teased as he continued heading for the soda shop. "You said you learned to shoot a bow and arrow and fight with a sword, any good with either of those things?" He laughed, then shook his head slightly, stopping whatever response Kira was about to give.
"As for what's going on with Mary, my guess is you know about as much as I do. The open, public meeting was a bunch of bull, smoke screens by the city council and the elders to quiet the residents, any real info getting shared and worked from is being talked about right now in their private members only meeting." Roland did his best to not sound too bitter. He wanted more then anything to be sitting in that meeting with his father and mother, listening to the going ons of the case.
He shrugged as they got to the soda shop, "Feral pups first," he teased with a smile, pulling the door open for her.
"That was stupid and pointless Ira." The small boy chided the girl from his perch on a low hanging branch, his voice sounded wise beyond it's years, eerie in it's high pitched tone, and coming from a child's mouth. "She wasn't what we were looking for in the first place, and we took what we needed from her, you shouldn't have made such a mess."
"Shut up Bel." The girl, Ira, was leaning against the tree beneath him and her face was taught muscles pulled tight. "We couldn't leave her alive."
"We also shouldn't have left a huge mess for the townsfolk to find." Bel retorted. "Lulu won't be happy about this."
"Yeah well were you gonna hide the corpse?" She retorted peevishly.
"Point taken, I still think you have major issues. Hanging her from the chains seems relatively unnecessary." The boys voice, though high pitched seemed to come only in a monotone.
"Oh shove it." The Ira said, clenching her jaw.
"I knew we should have headed back to the city where Lulu found you to make him."
"Well we are going now!" Ira shrieked. Her eyes, which had been almost human, a blueish grey with just the faintest thing off, went pure black with red veins as she turned to throw a punch at Bel.
She froze as where Bel had been was suddenly empty space.
"You need to calm yourself." The small body was suddenly floating just behind her and she felt the burning of the sharp tip of his dagger at the back of her neck.
"Fine, let's just hurry and find someone to make Mammon." She growled angrily, storming away. As her fury faded her eyes appeared to return to normal, and when she turned she watched as Bel's eyes too faded from black into a deep green.
To let everybody know, I've made the final decision on the first plotline/story arc and posts will be coming much more frequently now, I'm really excited to finally get into the nitty gritty of it, and I hope you all are too!

-EDIT-
Also for clarities sake, all in character post/segments from me in the IC will have the character name above it with the hyphens next to them as I've been doing, while all storyline necessary posts/segments will be italicized for the current antagonists who's designation has yet to be revealed, and made bold for council postings, updates to that will come as we go along but for now that will be how it goes.

That is...a lot of time.

Especially with how quickly these posts are coming... You may have pages of OOC to read, and just think of the IC you'll need to read......

That'll be fun! Lol
