Being a GM in tabletop can apparently mean driving your players insane - I was surprised how "well" everyone repsonded to being surrounded by crazies and care takers. Hope they get out in the end...

My love-hate always kicks in when learning words without an equivalent in other languages, and complex meaning. It is amazing the word exists, but hard to grasp its usage.

The strangest thing about learning new languages is still that they have words your language can only desribe and vice versa: Torschlusspanik, dépaysement, l'appel du vide, madrugar.

Bio

I have some experience (well rather some years of experience) in roleplaying, but I am rather new here.

This will most likely not turn out to be the most helpful Bio, especially as I am currently blissfully unaware and somewhat apathetic to everything concerning cosmetical possibilities. It is partly due to the fact that there is no fascinating, wonderfully rounded and polished characters - I just fought I would share some insights about the things I like.

For the roleplaying part I came here looking for something rather relaxed in a classical fantasy environment. More or less along the lines of a typical tabletop adventure or classical side quest (or row of side quests) in gaming. I am also fairly interested in longer, more elaborate plots but currently not in the position to think one up and keep it running.

Apart from that there is a broad variety of settings I am interested in. It ranges from historically themed ideas over to our current time and world up to futuristic scenarios, including post-apocalypting settings in this range. Any of those might be high or low fantasy. In short it is not one specific slice of things that is fascinating me, it is the possibility to dive into another world. That is the reason why there is also a small set of fandoms I like.

I prefer creating my own characters for a roleplay. This means that I can easily create characters requiring a set of skills, sometimes even character traits, but I often have a hard time to fill a pre-shaped role already described with character traits and (parts of a) backstory. For me this creation process is an important step when immersing into a new world.

Before finally concluding I should mention that the better part of my characters has at least dark spots in their history or behaviour. Many of the topics touched are mature, so if you feel unconfortable (or just aren't mature) please inform me beforehand. I usually also try to outline the problematic traits beforehand.

To round things up: If you found something interesting here, or have an idea that you want to share, just send me a message. It would surely make me happy!

Name: Josy Blanc-Arbre

Aliases: Venja

Age: 26

Gender: Female

Appearance: Venja usually sticks out to some extend. Her white hair, cut into a bob, draws the views of others. The slightly purple eyes are no sign of normality either - albeit she was born with both, as well as her pale skin. She is rather slim and with 5"3' she can be called petite without any doubt. her build is athletic, showing that she engages in different sports. Weighing just 108 lbs she is on the lower end of being healthy, but as she already had weighed quite a bit less she is still proud of it.
Usually Venja can be seen wearing dark clothes. She prefers to go with Jeans and black shirts, mostly printed either with band names or illustrations, but can be seen wearing dresses or formal clothing if the occasion requires it - or she feels like it. During a normal day she will most likely not wear jewellery, apart from a set of stud earrings, depicting small roses formed from heat coloured wire. During rainy or colder days she will typically wear a beige trench coat which is definitely too large for her. Some have joked it doubles as a tent, but albeit the coat is visibly old and used she still wears it regularly.

Personality: In general Venja can be called a caring person. She does not like to see people suffer, she goes out of her way to ask others if everything is alright and tries to look after people. Furthermore she could be seen as introverted. Normally going out to a party or even a big get-together is not her cup of tea and she will rather stay at home and read a book. She still likes to interact with others, albeit she often time will listen more than she talks. In general she is rather reclusive, keeping a lot of her thoughts and feeling to herself.
This does not mean that she would not stand up for her beliefs and ideals. If you manage to overthrow or even attack her values she will come down on you, ranging from professional to burning revenge. This has lead her to be part of meta-human rights activist groups and being a leading role in revealing problems at her campus and university.

Abilities: Venja is able to manipulate light. The first things she actively learned to do was the creation of darkness or light globes, but over time, she got more proficient with her skills. As the creation of optical "illusions" was one of the things she first discovered, she has trained herself in this domain for quite a while. By now, she is able to create walls that are not there, remove objects from the point of a viewer and even change her appearance. All this is not real - a wall created through her manipulation can be passed through, an object picked up and if she changes herself to have longer her and someone were to caress it he would just hit air. However, as most people trust their eyes, she is rather happy with the outcome.
Lately she has also been training to manipulate the invisible parts of light, which turned out to be rather difficult. Another thing she came across rather recently is the fact that she should be able to create focused beams like a laser would. She is toying with it, but has still not found the hang for both.

Bio:

Other: Besides reading, Venja loves to climb and run. She usually does it to take her mind of problems. At the moment she makes a living as a laboratory assistant in an institution that runs test for multiple hospitals.

I am planning to finally get to make a mirror glaze cake, with a galaxy mirror glaze. I hope it will turn out fine!

The day had been rather long - which was mostly accounted to the fact that her day had started around 4 o'clock in the morning. That was early, even for herself. And it had taken a toll on her, dragging on until the evening. At least she finally had some free time. And it seemed like a good enough excuse to fiddle around with a few things.
The door fell shut behind her, she flinged her bag and jacket in the direction where they belonged and mad her way to her office. Workshop. A little bit of both. The small room was filled with two desks, one holding her set up with monitors, computers and the required switches to just change to which system the peripherical devices would send information.
The other held a multitude of devices and parts and tools, a few mats and a general nice set of chaos. She knew how things were.. stapled and usually when she did not have a sensible project that was enough.

Plopping into her chair she turned on the laptop and watched the boot information flickering over her screen. She entered her credentials, waited for the VPN to turn on, checked a few things and opened up her browser and email. The... usual. Originally she had planned to read up on a few things, but scrolling through her email one caught her eye. Th3 Calm, sent from The Elder. She had never heard anything of that kind - but you get used to obscure mails so before deleting it she at least gave it a read.

For a while she just stared at it. She checked the time. Even the right greeting for the timezone. Crap. What was this about? And Discord?! The got damn game chat? She had never heard of anyone using Discord in such a setting - and there were rather absurd things she heard of. Capture the flag on remote computers. She grinned when her mind swung back to that, then starred at it again. In the end she shrugged. It sounded interesting enough. And either damage was already done - as the mail managed things not anyone knew of - or it was safe enough to follow the link without fearing damage. She copied the link, made sure to have a number of intermediate hops, opened the site, created an account and just a moment later P0isonApp1e had joined the channel to see where things were going. Silently.
On the side she also finally opened the website she had actually planned to visit, to catch up on a few things that had happened in the last hours, maybe days.
Do not stress yourself, your health is more important :)
This is difficult, mostly because it is not english:

La mort se fait senitr, mais il n'a pas de remords, comment le definir?
C'est la nature de l'homme qui l'a poussé à être comme ça.
Se sacrifier pour une idée, je crois qu'on ne résiste pas.

Interested as well
Funny enough I have a problem to filter out the genre I like best. I love magic, in mostly any setting. I love special abilities not connected to magic. I like cute and adorable settings as well as those where the whole world or just the main character's world is broken or dangerous. There are many genres I like to revisit, but it is oftened more about the character than the genre.

If I needed to decide for one thing, I would probably say Historic settings, centered around Industrialization, World Wars, maybe colonization and Renaissance. I like the times, mostly because I like the shifts in living and thoughts and the clash of old and new society structures and the gaps and tensions created by this.

The genre I really do not like (as a gerne) is Romance. In most cases I do not like to create characters just so they can fall in love and live through a relationship. It is just not my cup of tea.
I admit romance often gets to be part of a good plot - I had more than one character falling deeply in love and if that happens it is a wonderful source to deepen character or even the plot. In this case I really like it, being another aspect of life and making everything feel more rounded.
The one reason I can pinpoint why I do not like Romance for Romance, is that it does not feel like a true "match" if I create a character just to fall in love. I admit there must be more, as for example dark and twisted romances are sometimes okay with me - I just can not really point out what exactly it is.
Still on the look out :)
Hello,

welcome back!

I would be interested in the story - I have looked around but I think there is currently no open, alive X-Men plot or anything similar. but as I would love to get back into that direction, you have my interest.
