⇻ biography ⇺

⇻ personality ⇺
With tired eyes and a look of general sleep deprivation, Acton looks like the typical tired office worker with little interest in the affairs of other people. Acton keeps to himself, opting to throw himself into his work and hobbies rather than being out and being social. He’s not against social interaction, but he just finds it difficult and exhausting go out and making friends, unless the other person seems genuinely interested in getting to know him, which doesn’t happen often. While getting close to Acton isn’t the simplest of affairs, once someone is his friend, they will see the warmth and compassion come out of him.

Stemming from his rather emotionally unfulfilling upbringing, Acton often has to battle fears of abandonment and loss, leading to him being on the clingy side of things. Once he has made a friend, he goes out his way to make them happy, sometimes to the detriment of his own well being.

Even if he is rather anti-social and quiet, Acton is by no means a heartless jerk, and often empathizes and sympathizes with people very extensively. Though he doesn’t usually know what to do or say to comfort or congratulate someone, he experience’s others emotions almost as vividly as they do. He will cry with you, or laugh with you, or cheer with you, even if you can’t hear it. Even more so if you are his friend.

Acton tends to be calm and level headed, always trying to think out the most logical plan of action for every situation, to a fault. He’s very weary of taking risks and making hasty decisions, always paranoid of the repercussions. If possible, he tends to try and push the task of making decisions to other people, so that he can at least have confidence that any mistakes or consequences aren’t his fault. He will will only do that, though, in the most dire of situations, as most of the time he shares the pain of failure with the other person anyway.

⇻ appearance ⇺
Betraying his meek and quiet personality, Acton is actually quite tall and his height it punctuated with good posture. He hasn’t the most muscular build, but his hasn’t the lankiest one either. He may be a recluse, but he doesn't let that make him a couch potato. Although he likes being one of those too.

From his finger tips to about a quarter into his palm, Acton’s skin and most of his muscle have given way to a strange form of smooth, murky crystal, which is mostly black with moving spirals of blue inside of it. Ephemeral sparks of electricity can often be seen sparking between his fingertips, or traveling down his hand from end to end of the crystallized sections of his hands.

Usually a pleasant shade of blue, Acton’s eyes have begun to mysteriously shift between their natural color and a bright shade of yellow, and both colors have a habit of flickering and flashing, similar to seeing the flashes of lightning bolts across a night sky.

Along his arms and on the back of his neck all the way down to between his shoulders are raised sections of skin, which form uniform rectangles, all of which appear identical to his hands, black crystallized bumps with swirls of blue floating in them.

⇻ mutations ⇺

electrician
The Pandora Virus has endowed Acton with the mysterious ability to generate electricity from his body, and to bend and manipulate electricity in the world around him. His ability to wield and bend electricity as a tool greatly outweighs his ability to use it as a weapon, being able to sap power from systems, power machines with his own body, things of that nature. That being said, his electricity's combat use isn’t completely negligible, as he can use pure electricity as a short range taser, or give his opponents a healthy electrical shock while in hand-to-hand combat. Of course, he can use his electricity faster than he can produce it, hindering his combat abilities even more. On the more defensive end of the spectrum, electricity based weapons have little effect on him in short doses, but prolonged shocking could overcharge him. (See: Limitations.)

Welding electricity also gives Acton an odd assortment of other powers, such as using electricity to magnetize pieces of metal to his body to form makeshift armor, or create small balls of electricity in his hands for a easy light source. He’s also great for charging batteries.

Technomancer

Acton can (rather, will be able to) be able to transfer his consciousness into electronic devices such as computers and cell phones, controlling them and accessing their information for himself to retain. He can control them, render them useless, or any other number of things. His consciousness will leave his limp body, and enter any sort of computer or electronic device, and every electrode and transistor enters his control. If a device can be automated, he can do so from inside, and control the machine like a sort of beastmaster.

⇻ proficiencies ⇺

shakespearean pupil
Having experience on stage, Acton can be quite the convincing actor. He isn’t the silver-tongued diplomat, or the brawny intimidator, but he is the keen liar, good at playing at other’s emotions, as he understands them.

human battery
Electric shocks and hazards have little effect on Acton, simply acting to charge the strength of his own abilities, until he is as his capacity. He can only so much more energy past capacity, and once he has gone too far past capacity, he will short out, releasing all of the energy in a blast around him. The blast will leave him weak, if not comatose, but the resulting AoE shock should incapacitate or perhaps even kill most of what it hits, within a roughly 5 meter radius. Past that, it will deliver a healthy electro shock.

computer knowledge
Having studied Computer Science and other similar subjects at college, Acton has extensive knowledge about computers, and decent knowledge about other electronics too.

⇻ limitations ⇺

turtle-shelled
Social interaction has never been Acton’s strong suit, and it still isn’t. Unless he is crafting a well acted lie, Acton is almost entirely unable to hold stable conversation. His skill isn’t non existent, as for a while there it had seemed he’d cracked his shell, but with his dreams being crushed by this father and otherwise positive life rocked by being kept in secrecy, he has withdrawn back into himself, finding it difficult to make even simple eye contact.

memory loss
When using his consciousness to access and control electronics, any assortment of things can happen. He could lose partial or whole memories somewhere in the device. If the device is destroyed while he is inside, it could very well kill him then and there. He could come away with memories that don’t belong to him, thus muddling and confusing his thoughts. Not only that, but anytime he must use his entire mind to control a device, it puts him in an incredibly vulnerable place, leaving his body completely defenseless.

human battery v2
In a similar vein that Acton can absorb electricity, he also needs electricity to use his own powers, and even further, to keep his body going. Overuse of his body’s own electricity can incapacitate him, and continuous overuse can even kill him. His body can produce it’s own electricity, but at nowhere the rate Acton can use it when his powers are in full swing. Similar to most electronic items, water is extremely dangerous when Acton is submerged in it. All of the electricity will be sapped out of his body extremely quickly, electrifying the water around him to dangerous levels, and knocking him unconscious nearly instantly.

static electricity
Acton is not really used to having any sort of stable relationships, so when he actually gets in one, he is very proactive. He will always try to be of use to his friend, no matter if it is of a detriment to himself. He is a bit clingy, and will always try to stick to his friends if he is near them, finding comfort in bearing near a friend.

electric empath
Acton is a very empathetic person, and it can get to the point where it affects his own mental mood. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad, the mood of those around Acton is very influential on his own mood. He is, for lack of a better word, a slave to the emotions of others.

I'm interested!
@Claw2k11I can't give a solid timeframe. but I'll try to make it soon.
@BrithwyrYes.

@Synthesis I hadn't really thought much of the animals, but that doesn't sound so bad. Though, for you to build the type of character you want, type of dog and all, there is one thing. For a character to really hone skills of that set and have a well trained animal for the dog, they'd have to play a guard/soldier type character, OR, they have to be an outsider. Either one is fine, but I was just thinking you wouldn't really be able to pull something like that off spending all your time inside the walls, you catch my drift? Just a suggestion.
@Celsius Aw jeez sorry, I've been busy.

Yes. I'm still accepting! I plan on working on the OOC today or tomorrow! And really, it all depends on how fast the group goes, but 1-2 posts a week sounds like a decent speed. I haven't been in many Adv. RP's with a rate much faster than that, but that's just me.

Welcome aboard!

@Claw2k11 Thanks for trying to get my attention buy I neglected checking this for a bit lol.

@Tsar GattoHey man, do what ever suits you, You're always welcome.

@ParaffinWell, to explain the enigma that is the "ZQN" of I Am A Hero would be rather difficult, as they are pretty, well, enigmatic, but as for what it means for my zombies, it's roughly this.

There is no one single type of zombie. It is a horrifying mixture of zombies that shamble and shuffle, zombies that crawl with only their arms, zombies that sprint full speed, running and jumping off walls, and those who are quadrupedal, crawling on their feet and hands like something out of a horror movie. They manage to mutter words or phrases, usually seemingly ones that they used a lot in their life, such as a zombie merchant saying "Buyyyyyy one get one freeeeee..." for a simple example. They seem to follow a schedule roughly similar to that of which they were alive, and act according to their memories.

By acting according to their memories, I mean that they tend not to walk on any highway or overpasses, since most people don't just walk on in the middle of a highway normally. When it is daytime, they will go out and about, shambling along the streets and sidewalks, and once they sun goes down, they will find some house to take shelter in.

There are quite a few things they do in the manga that I don't want in this RP. For example, some special zombies are able to communicate and direct the hordes, and if they are decapitated, their head can be placed on another body for them to live again. There is a whole slew of other things to these zombies that makes they really unique and, frankly, fucking awesome, but it would take the better part of the night to really get in depth with it and explain them fully.

Read the manga, trust me. It's reallyfuckinggood.
@FantasyChic Yeah! Any interest is welcome! Welcome aboard!
@Dulcet Thank you! And yes, I intended for there to be a little of time before the expedition began for a little intrigue, character building, things of that nature. It's still an idea, but if the characters are right or certain things happen, it will also be a question of whether the expedition ever sets out in the first place.

The government, while becoming slg increasingly divided and such, still, however, isn't ruled by any one specific party, and as such, the group formed to choose the unlucky draftees is bipartisan, meaning they will most likely choose to send the loudest or most influential voices of their opponents. This means, at least in my mind, that the draftees could be made up of some of the most vocal and divisive people of each respective faction, whether that be solely the Purists and Curists, or any others I choose to introduce.

I think I'll rephrase it so that it seems less like they announced the expedition solely for flushing out opponents, and more that it's a normal thing, but this time they choose to use it for a different purpose.

@Claw2k11 Also an addition to before, if you play an outsider character, they would probably be fairly well known, since outsiders are a rarity. So I don't want everyone to be a mysterious outsider with a dark past or some shit, but those few are going to be known by quite a few people.
@Claw2k11 Well, by sealed I would assume you mean, like, completely sealed which it hasn't really been. As I wrote above, Ishida's Point has been around for about 80 years, the walls being built I work say roughly 20 years after establishment. The new government, though, has only really been a thing for a few decades, so I would say 20 years or less, so there would be plenty of people that know what it was like before the government began trying to silence dissidence and all that good stuff. So I'm thinking people would still find it in themselves not to accept being pushed around and silenced. Also, yes you could play type of character, so long as they were alone and just struggling before, not coming from any other major settlement. Like nomads.

@Tsar Gatto as for the zombies, I was thinking of something along the lines of the manga "I Am A Hero". I would link but I'm at work and almost off break. Basically, all sorts of shamblers or creepy crawlers, all who still manage to mutter coherent words and follow a similar schedule to when they were alive (going out during the day, finding shelter during the night). That sound good? I'll elab later
Even though you’ve most likely spent your entire life here, I’d like to reintroduce you to the only home most of you have ever known: Ishida Point. Plentiful crops, a scenic river with easily cleaned water, and the tallest walls you’ve ever laid your eyes on. Paradise on Earth, some would say. Established by Keith Ishida about 80 years ago, this place has grown from a miserable settlement struggling to survive to a bonafide stronghold, a testament, standing tall, to Humanity’s resilience and adaptability. Only issue is, it’s the only one of it’s kind. For all we know, Ishida Point could be the last place with living, healthy humans left on Earth. That’s why you, my friend, have been given the “honor” of being sent out on the third of the “Ishida Expeditions.” These suicide missions, thought up by the bigwigs in the government, if you can call it that, are meant to be missions of goodwill, to try and see if there really is anyone else left besides us. Most of us have been locked safely behind these walls for so long that we don’t know what’s even out there, and few have returned to tell us the details.

We, the lucky ones chosen (more like drafted) for these expeditions, know the real reason these missions were started.

Recently, in the last decade or two, what was simply a council of leaders brought together to make decisions, has grown into a full blown government, and with that growth, came division. Before, there were no “sides”, simply those who led us, and those who advised them, but now, “parties” have sprouted up. The two main ones are easy to remember, the “Purists” and the “Curists.” Before these parties were established, the leaders were really a mixture of both, some wanting to take stern measures to thin out the population of the dead outside the walls, and those willing to capture and do tests on the dead, finding out what they could about the disease that made them the way there were.

Slowly but surely, disagreements began to rear their heads. Those interested in attempting to create some sort of vaccine or even a cure argued that taking violent measures against the dead was hurting not only the chance perhaps being able to bring some of the dead back to the world of the living, but perhaps bringing the world back to the way it was. Those interested in eradicating the threat insisted that too much time and resources were being wasted on failed or fruitless studies, and the act of capturing the dead was too risky and put too many lives on the line to be worth it.

I think you can see where this is going.

Political dissidence in a world where we just recently stopped killing people over simple disagreements is a dangerous thing. Everyone is armed, everyone has killed, and they aren’t scared to do it again. What better way than to get rid of any dissidents, than to just send them away to their deaths, making it out to be some “grand cause”?

“Well, what’s stopping those people who got drafted from staging a coup?”

Well, not only does it help that this government of ours is growing more totalitarian as it ages, giving us the North Korean treatment, (do what we say or your family dies), but the government has guns, too, and a coup could end up destroying one of the last known bastions of Humanity left in the world, which, understandably, doesn’t sound like the best idea, now does it.

So, we have a choice to make: Go out into the New World and try to stake our own claim, not knowing if we'll ever be able to see the family and friends we leave behind again, or do we stand on our own, refusing to leave, and starting a war that could be Humanity’s last?

Alright, I know this is sparse, I know it’s rough and short on details, but I needed to write my idea out to be able to see if it’s worth expanding on, so I’d like to see how many of you are interested!

I already have a few other ideas for the zombies, the various factions of Ishida’s point, and I already have the endgame in mind, if it even comes to that. If you think that you could contribute more ideas or help manage the RP or things of that nature, I could always use a Co-Gm, as my work hours and life are a little unpredictable, and aren’t always very conducive to roleplay. It’s been about a month or two since I last roleplayed, so hopefully I can manage to see this through to the end, but yeah! That’s it. If you’re interested, please say so, and if you have any questions or ideas, PLEASE don’t hesitate to post here or message me!

Thanks for reading!
