However, her family soon realised she got excitable just before a lightning storm. She would just wander outside, whatever time of day, sit on the ground and wait for the storm. What was most confusing to Elysia was that the lightning always struck very close to her but never hit her. She told her parents the thunder soothed her, and they got worried. She was banned from going outside. One night, during a ferocious storm when she was 13, she climbed out of her window and ran into the woods. She fell asleep and her nightmare seemed to be never-ending and she woke up, struggling to breathe. She felt something hot rub against her, and she saw an electric cheetah. She touched it, and a surge of energy ran down her. She called him Rai, which means Lightning, Thunder and Trust.
