“Give me 20 on red 7 and 9.” The stranger slides onto the bar stool across from your counter, passing a stack of coins to you.

You glance down at his coins and slide them into your palm before setting the spinner off. A ball drops from the claws of the contraption and spins round… And round… And round…. “Sorry old timer,” you say, “But it’s at black 22. Better luck next time.”

“Oh that’s alright,” the elderly man chuckles, reaching into his pocket, presumably for more coins, “I tend to have very good luck.”

You kneel down to eye level with the small box of coins and drop his in before rising again to deal with the customer. Instead, you are greeted with the familiar click of a gun, and a barrel pointed right between your eyes. “Ah, so it’s like that?” you say with a sigh, raising your arms up, “I’m afraid that’s not a wise decision, sir.”

The old man lets out a bark of laughter, “Says the person with a gun pointed to their head? Now, c’mon, you know who sent me and why.”

Of course you do, after all you’re not a moron. “One last chance, old man.” Your patience wears thin, and your formal speech is dropped quickly.

He doesn’t reply, his finger so so close to the trigger. You sigh again, and before he can react, your elbow slams down on his arm. The gun fires, narrowly missing your temple. But of course, that’s not your concern, deftly sliding over the gambling table, your feet collide with his chest and knock him to the ground. The always present gun in the inner pocket of your vest is pulled out for perhaps the third time this week, and is pressed to the old man’s head. He’s quivering, shaking in fear. Looks like he was a mercenary who didn’t know who he was up against. “Sorry sir, it’s company policy.” And while he’s trying to decipher your words, you pull the trigger.

Bang.

Dusty Roads looks like a normal casino, and by all means, it almost is. Both outside and inside betray nothing, and functions perfectly normally. However, behind the cheery smiles and clinking coins, there lies a darker secret.

It’s pretty widely known that this particular casino has gotten itself involved in gang affairs, however, being one of the largest and most prominent gambling areas many people take the risk and visit. The staff and owner tries to hide as much of it as possible from the public eye, but every so often, shady men step in to “talk to the boss”, or perhaps a shootout now and again.

It all started with loan sharks, taking money from the wrong people, and almost no way to pay it back. However, instead of sitting quietly and taking the abuse, they armed themselves, and took out their problems, one by one. Unfortunately, this caused many problems and made many rivals. However, it’s nothing the staff can’t handle, each and every one of them specializing in a particular set of skills, they all are aware of the dangers, and capable of handling themselves, thank-you-very-much. Troublesome customers appear every now and again, but they are always deal with quickly.

Oh sure, they’ve taken advantage of their new place in the dirty underground. Maybe some illegal substances, or perhaps a mainframe hacking here or there. Something just enough so they can cover their tracks again.

Yet there’s trouble brewing. As tensions rise from a deal gone bad, rivals had made themselves known more and more frequently within the casino. With violence escalating, Dusty Roads is beginning to lose business.

They are ready to take matters into their own hands.

Oh yes, just a friendly little casino.

Do I have anyone's attention? Feel free to ask any questions!

Looking for the OOC?
It's been a while, but bump!
That's perfectly reasonable, I hope things are going well for you!
Lyra bit the end of the bandage, cutting the strip from what was left of her cloak. "There, good as new. With you healing yourself, you should be good in a... Hmmm, about a day or two? I'm not sure how fast you usually heal." She looked over her work, making sure it wouldn't come unraveled any time soon, before taking off her cloak. It wasn't like she was going to use it again, anyway. Shrugging, she folded the thing up and tucked it under her arm. Who knew? Maybe they would need more bandages sometime soon.

taking a glance around, she was thankful there still wasn't any humans running about. Well, maybe they couldn't see them anyway. "There's still a chance we may be followed... We can't stay in one place for too many days, but first, let's find out where we are." She looked over to the buildings and homes from where they were standing. Populated by humans, no doubt. But how many? And where were all of them?
Lyra smiled, "Thanks... For that, and for everything, really. You didn't have to help me, but... You did, so, thanks again." She winced when he groaned from the pain, that definitely didn't sound good. "Here, lay on your back, and try not to touch your wounds, let me see what I can do. We'll need to clean and then bind it. For now, we'll just put some pressure on it and help your healing process go faster." She explained it quickly while tearing pieces of her cloak into makeshift bandages. "Just hold still, alright?" she said, beginning to wrap his wounds, "Tell me if I'm being too rough."

As she worked, she glanced around them. Not all humans would be able to see them, only a few had that sort of ability. But there was still a chance they could be discovered no matter how slim those chances seemed. And those were chances she didn't really feel like taking at that particular moment. The streets were empty, perhaps they had happened upon a smaller town? Better luck for them, perhaps, the less likely they would be seen.
Lyra winced, "Sorry about making you weaker and all, but it's ah... It's really the best thing we've got going for us. I doubt there will be much trouble there, anyways! It's not like there will be a army waiting for us!" She looked over to their attackers, still persisting in attacking them. Yeah, going into the Human World was probably a better idea than fighting off all of them. After all, she wasn't sure how long they could keep up with it all, it only took so much for them to slowly become too tired to fight back. They had hundreds, if not even more, and it was simply the two of them.

She placed her right hand over the other, and both began to glow before she pried her hands apart, opening the Portal. Quickly, before anyone else could force their way through, she pushed him through before diving in herself, immediately sealing it after her. "Sorry... Sorry..." she panted, making her way over to him. "How hurt are you? We'll need to get those tended right away. I'm sorry... This is all... This is all my fault"
Lyra frowned as she kept a few of their attackers at bay, not letting them get anywhere close to them. "Shit, I guess that idea's down the drain. But..." she paused, biting her bottom lip in thought. Her mind raced for another solution to get them out of there as quickly as possible, at this point she would take anything that she could get. "I know we have sort of portals to the Human World," she explained once she though of something, "And I'm assuming Demons don't. Have you ever tried using one? I know Angels wouldn't just hand a Portal over to a Demon, so it most likely hasn't been tried before. Do you think that it could work?"

It was a rash idea sure, but it was a desperate time, and that was honestly the best thing she could think of that could get them both out of there. And she was not about to leave the person who saved her behind. Sense of Justice, or perhaps just her own Morals, or whatever. Yeah, yeah, damn them all. The Portal she was talking about was really just the ability all Angels had to open Gates to Earth, in theory, it would work.... right?
Bump again!
Where was there to hide? Lyra glanced around them, open space everywhere. If it escalated to even this point, maybe Neutral Territory wasn't enough to hide them... "We may have to go into the Human World." she noted, looking behind them for the Demons who had been following them. Maybe for now they escaped, but certainly they would be found soon, and they had to act fast. "In fact, that may be our only choice. They probably won't find us in there, it's a pretty big place." Shouting. They were catching up, and it wasn't hard to spot them either, they were all too noticable.
Of course, there's plenty of room!
