This is why sleep is such a problem; I come back to five pages added on to this! I'll work on my CS later today, I over slept (wahhh) and have a doctor appointment soon >.> I don't have any ideas so I'll probably surprise myself with this.
*flaps in* I'll have a CS up tomorrow; I really need sleep, I'm dead on my feet (butt? Since I'm sitting). Can't wait to chat and rp with all of you lovely people!
Alias/Codename: Jokingly says "Whips" or "Indy" in reference to Indiana Jones. Actual codename is: Bullwhip (he says while it relates to his power, it's also a play on the word "bullshit.")
Age: 20.
Country of origin: Canada; Quebec.
Basic appearance: Nicholas stands at what some would consider a towering 6'0, with an average build of a healthy twenty year old; he doesn't really work out and so he doesn't have any defining muscles. He keeps his dark brown hair cut short and lets it does as it please, be it stand up on end that day or lay flat, he doesn't really bother with it. He has been told multiple times he has shocking blue eyes, that when in bright light, appear lighter, an almost icy blue, and in dimmer light, appear a deep blue; both times, with the barest hint of a green hazel spread throughout the blue color. He has a dusting of freckles going across his cheekbones and the bridge of his nose, more noticeable when he gets more sun, and thus a more tan complexion. He doesn't really worry about what he puts on his body, usually opting for a pair of jeans or comfortable sweats and loose graphic tees; always, a pair of sneakers/tennis shoes are on his feet. Always, he has a necklace around his neck, which he keeps hidden underneath any clothes he's wearing; it's on a thin silver chain long enough to stay hidden underneath his shirts, with the name 'Alaina' in small cursive handwriting on the end of it. Because of his tendency to be careless in non-serious situations, and from playing with his power when it first formed, he has various scars on his body; a few on are his legs, but most are on his torso and back.
Costume: Nick wanted something dark yet something he could be comfortable in; so he put together the outfit below.
A sleeveless black hoodie shirt thing (as he calls it); he always has the hood up and he likes the fact people can see the tattoos on his arms.
Nick makes the joke that almost every superhero wears super tight pants, right? Well, he wanted too, and it wasn't just to show off his, ahem, assets, he swears! He thought the boots looked cool and they don't hinder his walking or running or jumping around.
He thought it'd be a good idea to keep his face covered up and he likes how these two things look together, while keeping his whole outfit dark like he wanted. And the mask and glasses do not feel constricting or anything so that's a bonus.
Skills:
"Is eating a whole pizza a skill? ... Even an extra large? No? Well... it should be."
Nick, despite his carefree and sometimes goofy nature, is very quick-minded; he has an above average IQ level and so, he's very quick when making decisions, has the potential to be calculating, level-headed, and calm, and could have magnificent leadership skills.
His memorization skills are very above average; he has no trouble recalling events or names, even the most trivial things may pop into his head randomly, a photographic memory; a blessing and a curse.
Even though it may not seem like it, he's very skilled with words (making him an amazing writer) and has read the dictionary for fun so he knows many, many words (and sometimes, when explaining something, he may come off almost robot-like in his explanation).
He has a way with technology; he's very fascinated by how technology of any sort works and loves to take things apart and put them back together, giving him great knowledge on many technological items; he enjoys computers the most and has hacking skills beyond even great hackers.
A short version of this list would just be saying he's very, very smart.
"Wait, wait, is having intensive knowledge on movies and video games a skill? No? ... Shit, this list is boring."
He has quick hands, from years of experience pick-pocketing people, and is very adaptable.
Powers:
Manifestation of tattoos: The ability to make the strange lines on his arms manifest; they move along his skin, to his fingertips, where they begin to manifest and twist together to form a long, thick whip, something akin to a bullwhip; each fingertip (including thumb) has a black line extending from it and he can choose to separate his fingers and unravel the whip to form five thinner whips or to put his fingers together and form one thick whip.
The lines seem random and like they would not form a whip, so Nick enjoys surprising people by showing his power. The lines twist all the way up to his shoulder, where they just cut off, and the whip can only be as long as much "tattoo" he has, which is roughly about twice the length of his arm. Both tattoos, as he calls them, look the exact same on each arm.
Setbacks: He can't form his whips for a very long period of time. Right now, he can have them formed up to forty minutes, but then his arms begin to hurt and grow weak, and he has to let them form to his skin again. If he goes too long without manifesting the whips, it's a very painful process as they do move along his skin to form; when his mutation first showed, it was a very painful development, and he still doesn't understand why. Depending on what he's doing depends on how long it takes him to have enough energy to form his whips again. Naturally, if his hand or any of fingers got cut off, that probably wouldn't spell good news for his power. The whips are a part of himself, and while they are durable, if they get hit or slapped or any sort of harm comes to them, it's like injury to his body and does hurt him. He can form the whips pretty quickly, though depending on his state, mentally and physically, depends on how long it takes him to manifest them.
Superhuman strength... somewhat: Nick is pretty strong, stronger than the average human (eh, mutant?). He can't lift two tons over his head, nothing impressive like that, but the thing that makes him stronger are his whips. His whips are very durable, and have yet to be broken by anything; they are very strong and they can easily lift two tons, though not for a long period, and can even hold his weight, so he can use them as sort of stilts and to pull himself up to higher ground, if there's something the whip can wrap around. Setbacks: He cannot lift a very heavy weight with his whips for a long period or else it begins to get painful; the longest he had held up a heavy weight is almost five minutes and that was a struggle itself. Though, something like twice, even third, times his own weight, he can hold up for longer and with more ease. It's an elephant he might have trouble with.
Manipulating the whips into other forms/using as armor: Nick is still fairly new to doing this one; he's naturally a curious person, and he likes to mess and poke at stuff he probably shouldn't most of the time, and so he's messed and poked at his own powers (how do you think he got his scars?). He has discovered that he can manipulate his whips into changing form; he can't increase their size (he does have the possibility of decreasing their size, they just simply form onto his skin again unless thought otherwise, and the fact he can make smaller whips decreases their size). But, he can manipulate with thought for the whips to form something like a shield or wall. He can also make them form shapes and he's learning on how to make the whips form onto certain parts of his body to make up some sort of armor (which seems pointless, since he can't cover his whole body, but he just likes to play around with it (though using the full length of the whips, and both at the same time, can cover a fair amount, say his whole torso and then some)). So, in retrospect, he can encase someone else in armor too. Another discovery was that he can manifest the whips without moving them - meaning, it looks like he can make the tattoos just lift away from his skin, and form the whips without them coming from his fingertips; the benefit being that he can make them encase his arm, making very thick and durable arm sleeves that would be useful in hand-to-hand combat and blocking other attacks. He's still learning this power, however, since it takes a lot of thought and energy, and he's learning to form the shields/arm sleeves at a quicker pace. He has yet to discover, and will later, that he can form the whips around his own fists, creating a large and protective glove-like encasing that could hurt like hell if someone got punched with it. Setbacks: As mentioned above, using this power takes thought (concentration) and energy. The whips themselves do not take much energy, feeling like an extension of himself, but manipulating them into another form does take energy, mentally and physically. It's still a slow process too; not that slow but slow enough that he needs a few seconds before he can form a shield or the arm sleeves, which a few seconds could mean the difference between life or death. So, this power is still something "in the works" as he says, and he's learning how to manipulate the whips and move them one place to another in a quicker fashion that won't hurt him.
Brief bio:
Nicholas lived a pretty normal life up until he was thirteen. His parents were a happy couple; his father was American, who had moved to Canada to attend college in Quebec, and his mother was French. They had met at college and had been together ever since. Nicholas is fluent in both French and English, and depending on what words he is saying, he may or may not have a French accent. When he does talk in French, expect a thick accent, and sometimes even after he comes out of talking it. He was a happy kid, no problems, and their family was pretty well off money-wise. When he was two, his parents had another kid, a little girl named Alaina. Once she was older, the two became very close, tight knit. However, when Nicholas turned thirteen, he began to get sick. His parents didn't understand what was wrong; doctors didn't either. He had a higher fever and kept experiencing excruciating arm pain. They were even sensitive to the touch. He hadn't been sick for very long, maybe about two weeks, when it all came to a head; he woke up one night screaming, his arms feeling as if they were on fire. Once his parents got there and had the lights on, the fire had subsided a little, but left in their wake the black lines he has today. His parents had a long talk with him after that and what Nick found out was: He was adopted.
His parents had adopted him when he was six months old. The only thing they knew was that he had been dropped on the doorstep of the orphanage. "Cliche as hell, right?" is what Nick would always say if anyone found out about it. His parents weren't really sure how to react to finding out their adopted son was, well... a mutant. Because what else could he be? They pulled him from school so he could home-school. Alaina wanted to home-school with him but their parents wouldn't let her. For some time, the markings didn't do a thing on his body; eventually, they stopped hurting, and they just looked like any other markings. A few months had passed and it seemed like everyone had settled again, growing used to the strange markings randomly showing up on his arms. When, again, his arms began to hurt, but this time, the markings were coming to life, slithering down his arms like snakes, and coming out of his fingertips. It was very painful, it was like his skin was being ripped as they moved, but they just didn't leave any surface injuries to show they were ripping him (that's the only way he really knows how to describe it; like something is underneath his skin and moving, like an itch you can't scratch).
And, that was how Nicholas discovered just what the hell the markings were for. His parents were very weary, especially since Nick had a tendency to play with them like they were toys, because after some time, they stopped becoming so painful to form. When he used them often enough, it felt like how he describes in the parentheses above. Alaina seemed the most accepting in the family, saying she'd love Nick no matter what. Well, that changed quickly. At fifteen, Nick was still learning how to mess with his powers. He was an unhappy child at that time, because his parents had decided that after putting him in home-school, it was best to just keep him in the house and not let him go out, or else his powers would be found out. Nicholas hated being stuck inside and only sometimes, when he had to swear a million times he wouldn't form his whips out in public, they would take him out in long sleeves. But, it was rare, and Nick felt like his parents had become ashamed of him. So, at fifteen, Nick was a bitter little thing, and often practiced his powers around the house, purposefully breaking things but playing it off as an accident.
One day, Alaina came home from school; she enjoyed seeing his powers. Their parents were none the wiser that Nick would put on something akin to shows for Alaina with his powers. Well, to make this short, Nick was showing Alaina how he had discovered he could lift heavy things; kid was left home alone all day, he had to find things to keep himself occupied. It was actually how he got to be so darn smart. When he wasn't fiddling with his powers, he would sit and read, or do research on the internet. His parents fed into his intelligence and gave him books and anything else to help further his intelligence (they later realized the reason he was so smart was because he could retain everything like a sponge, even the littlest detail, though it was sometimes hard for him to concentrate and bring that memory to the forefront of his mind, but he could after some time). Anywho, he was lifting the big screen TV up in the living room; huge thing. It was almost 70 inches, very expensive, and the latest brand. Alaina was amazed and got too close. Nicholas' powers were still fairly new, he had had them for almost two years at that time, but they were still developing along with him, so he couldn't hold up a big screen TV as long as he could now at twenty. He tried to keep holding it up but he wobbled and dropped the TV, right on top of Alaina.
It hadn't been light, either. It was at that time when TVs weren't quite flat yet, instead having a slight arching back to them, and were heavier because of it. He had called 911 and got an ambulance over there; his parents came from work shortly after the arrival of the ambulance and were furious with Nick, because they knew he had caused it without him even saying so. For them to assume that (even if it was true) did hurt Nicholas. They didn't want him at the hospital, or to be seen by anymore paramedics (the ones that had saw him stared at his arms but made no comment, of course) and actually shoved him in the coat closet under the stairs and locked it. "They totally Harry Potter'd me!" Nick would say if telling the story, which he hadn't with anyone before, but if he did, he would try and shed some humor onto it, failing miserably. Life most definitely was very different after that. After being stuck in the closet for almost a whole day, his parents could barely look at him, and told him Alaina was in a coma. Nicholas didn't believe it at first but he had too; she didn't come home and they wouldn't let him visit her.
Alaina never woke up. Nicholas' parents blamed him completely and barely spoke to him, let alone looked at him, after that. Nick stayed in his room a lot after that (or in Alaina's as a way to torture himself, he guessed, since his parents never touched the room) and tried to not use his powers. That was how he discovered that if he didn't use them, it became very painful, and it was like using them for the first time all over. For a long time, he was bitter, and hated his powers and himself. He went through the rest of his teenage years replaying in perfect detail that day, where it went wrong, what he could have done differently. He lived the rest of his teenage years unhappy, lonely, and taking care of himself. Even though his parents let him stay around, they acted like he didn't exist. He only let this last for almost a year then at sixteen, he couldn't stand it anymore and left. Packed up and got out of there. He made sure to take something of Alaina's along with him, because while he might have a photographic memory, he wanted something physical. So, he took one of her necklaces, a long silver chain with her name hanging off in small cursive handwriting at the end of it. He went and saw Alaina one last time; his parents were well enough off, and had good insurance, so they had been keeping her on life support. He hates his photographic memory, because he can still see her laying there, pale and malnourished with tubes sticking out of her. He moved on, or tried too. He used his powers as little as often, fleeing to America, where he thought maybe he could find something better there. He decided to go to New York City, because why the hell not? He had thought at the time.
Hitchhiking and living on the streets was how Nicholas got by for a while. When he was eighteen, he met his idol, and not in the best of ways, and he hadn't been his idol until then. Nicholas did bad things to get by on the streets of NYC; sometimes, he wondered why he came there, but it was a beautiful city, and it had a pull to it; it felt like he was supposed to be there. He pickpocket'd people to get by, and sometimes slipped things in his pockets while in stores. One night, he brushed by a tall, kind of big blonde guy, and snagged his wallet. Thinking he was good, he went back to the alley he had been staying in, and sat down to see how much money he had just made. He opened it, skimming the guy's driver's license. 'Steve Rogers.' The name sounded familiar but really fake, too, so Nicholas moved on to what he really wanted, deciding to not dig into his "memory bank" (as he calls it) to figure out how he knew the name. He didn't get far. That Steve Rogers had followed him and confronted him. Nick, at first, was very defensive, ready for a fight, because on the streets, that was what happened when you got confronted for stealing something (usually by other hobos or "free lancers" as Nick referred to himself as). Sometimes, when he was on the defense, and ready for a fight, his whips would reveal themselves without his say so; and it had been a couple of weeks since he had "stretched them out" and it had made plenty of other people run away, so he revealed them. But, Steve, surprisingly, kept his cool, only showing a little bit of his shock, and had been very kind, and wasn't angry at all, and it threw Nicholas for a loop. For years, he hadn't been showed kindness (maybe a passing person giving him more than a one but it didn't extend beyond that). This was true kindness and Steve offered a helping hand.
Nicholas couldn't stop himself from accepting it. He hated that life. He didn't want to go back home but he hated what he had become, too. Maybe he could have made a better choice and not left Canada but he would have just been a street-living free lancer there too. Nicholas shortly after realized who Steve was when he was brought to Stark Towers and realized that him revealing his powers back there probably helped Steve make his decision to bring Nick here. The rest kind of became history; Steve helped Nick tremendously, Nicholas got to meet the Tony Stark and even learn a few things from him which was cool as shit, and Steve taught him a lot. He was sort of taken under the blonde man's wing ("shield," Nick would say instead) for a while and he came to idolize Steve. He didn't get to hang around Steve 24/7, because he did get a better life started for himself, and wasn't living on the streets and stealing anymore, and Steve had his own life. When the school was formed, of course he jumped on it, and joined it, Steve definitely happy he had. Nicholas openly admits Captain America helped shape him to be the young man he is today, though he still has his flaws and kinks to work out, a past he literally can't forget, and guilt chasing him around. Maybe he can work those problems out while at Avengers Academy.

Initial observation report:
Subject has openly proven he has very similar world views asa very big crush on Captain America; however, he is still rebellious, and that combined with his higher intelligence- makes him a problem child, am I right?Aw, shit, someone hacked my file before me! Very funny, guy.
Training regimen/expertise:
- Obedience protocol training. Look, we'll be classmates!Hm, give yourself away, why don't you? - Extensive physical and combat training. They're calling you fat.Yeah, well, wait till they see this fat as-No. - Concentration classes, not only for helping with developing powers further, but also for how subject jumps from one thing to another. Thanks, guys! By the way, really loving the view I get on the helicarrier's decks, really nice- oh, and the dorms are okay, I guess- and the food, too-You're doing that on purpose. How intelligent you are indeed.
Potential outlook:
Subject shows high potential to have impressive leadership skills and possibly take a high rank in his future with the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., if he can learn to control his impulses and his mouth. Ha ha ha you guys have so much fucking hope for me!
Best case scenario:
We have a future Captain America on our hands. I can't even argue with this, what a high compliment. You really do have a crush on him, don't you?No one asked you, italics guy!
Worst case scenario:
Subject loses interest; with his heightened intelligence, memorization skills/photographic memory, and habits, he appears to have ADHD and jumps from one thing to the other often. Ouch.Burn.
Side note: I did have permission to let a certain someone hack into Nick's profile and write that out ahem.
*poofs in* Hello! I'm up for the hero x whoever, the human x whatever, or the ghost town one! So, whichever you're craving the most would be cool with me.
Well its more I was hoping for more classic styled powers but since it doesn't really feel that way with many of the characters its more personal preference than anything particularly fundamentally wrong with them. Don't sweat it really.
Ahh, I understand you, now. I won't sweat it like I had earlier then lol! Anyway, gonna safely assume Nick is accepted and go toss him into the character tab.
@DrewVonAwesome I'm gonna pester you now too! haha. I was curious as to what you didn't like about my character's powers, I thought they seemed all right and pretty at level with everyone else's?
@A Tattooed Girl I'm so glad he's converting you! It's a really great show, I adore it. That would be one very complicated plot! It's a challenge I'm.... not willing to take on, lol. A dog pack RP sounds so fun, I wish it was still active! I need to read it asap then! Oh, do you wanna move this to PM so we aren't clogging your thread? lol.
