"We don't know everything about these kaiju yet. How do we know these security measures won't just fail miserably? There must be something more surefire we can do, right?"
Ryoma's eye twitched a little at that question, while it was obvious the team was the first, most important and likely the only effective defense against the Kaijus, he wouldn't want to put pressure on them just before an important assignment where the smallest mistake could cause thousands or millions in damages. Ryoma would have to word very carefully his response.
"They're support, Hanneman. Or not.
While a little harsh and severely underselling the value of the support team, Commander Shourichi managed in her own bombastic way to explain the importance of the team and their mission without making the situation while making the situation seem less dire than it is. A clicking sound made Ryoma look in Hazel direction, who had probably noticed that he was one of the few who could understand her signs. She seemed to have the same opinion as him in that they are the first line of defense, though she emphasized the security measures were more about keeping the people in the fortress and the surrounding areas safe and prevent any unwanted presences entering the base and causing chaos, and unlike a similar incident in the past an incident like that may not end up with a pilot for the Promethion. That day was definitely one of the most stressful ones in his life, and it could be definitely called a miracle that his decision of giving the offer to pilot the Promethion to Hazel paid off, since he was quite berated for it at first by the high ranking scientists of the fortress that knew and had many sleepless nights thinking he was going to lose his position.
"Ahem, just like the Commander and Hazel over here said, the Promethion is the first line of defense against the Kaiju with all the increased security features being in place to provide security to the pilots, scientists, mechanics, miscellaneous staff, critical equipment like spare parts, and to make sure the Base is in top condition to provide support to you in case the need arises. So while you are technically our beast of burden, my job and the rest of the staff is to ensure you can give your all" Ryoma said to Autumn as he pushed his glasses again.
Tatsuo had taken the strategy of waiting for the monsters to rush against him before impaling them, it was not like they would escape and it helped him recover energy, the Ex-ranger had at least understood his wish to fight the monsters, even if he still held a grudge against him, something to expect really. "Bad Encounters? That's a hell of a way of saying you tried to kill me." the man wasn't really wrong, even if he has the memories of the Skullman that he was, he still can't reconcile with some of his memories and may look them with the perspective of an outsider. Not that he was going to tell him as he probably wouldn't understand and even then he is still responsible for all those who suffered under his brainwashing
"...What a shitty day. Take it that M.I.R.R.O.R. isn't behind this if they're gunning for you too?" he asked, turning to look at Skull as he kept his guard up, retaliating against anything that'd try and get through him. "Or is this just a bad ambush like last time?"
"M.I.R.R.O.R has been erasing their traces ever since they found out I was eliminating their agents, whether this is some bizarre experiment of them or not, it is something I will have to after this mess is sorted" Finding what M.I.R.R.O.R was doing was like finding a needle in a stack of hay, despite their relative secrecy the number of secret and double agents they were willing to dispose of for the sake of protecting their goals was surprising, in hindsight he was very lucky to not have been installed with any self-destruct devices and to be believed dead by M.I.R.R.O.R initially as things would be much much harder.
Suddenly the remaining monsters started to pile up and formed a tentacle behemoth as things were going from bad to worse. "Oh is this going to hurt" Tatsuo said to himself as he thought of a way to defeat that monstrosity, Sparkman was already being toyed around by the creature, but his initial strategy could work. Doing another Acceleration mode wasn't something he liked to do, but that thing needs to be killed as soon as possible. On the sound of “Start up” Tatsuo began climbing the monster with his augmented velocity, he had little time but with effort, he managed to reach the creature's neck.
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!" Tatsuo began to scream as he created a bone spike the size of his arm if he wasn't chockful of adrenaline he might have passed out. Little time remained in Acceleration mode when Tatsuo launched the arm sized bone spike to the creatures neck. Unfortunately, the spike didn't completely pierce the creatures neck, with half of it visibly remaining outside the monster body. Even with the sudden drop of speed, Tatsuo managed to hold on the spike and the creatures thrashed around trying to make him fall. Spotting the rider Tatsou shouted at him "Dont you heroes have a giant robot or something to beat things like this?!"
Another day another meeting at Vaucanson, while he still remembers how he was trying to contain his excitement and nervousness at his first meeting now it had become a boring routine. Thankfully he already knew most of the important information that was being said at the meeting and was in his own little world thinking about possible upgrades to the Promethion while apparently paying attention to the meeting. The sound of a clipboard shutting brought him back to his senses just in time for a question.
"Are there any closing remarks you wish to make, sir?"
"Eem... Not really, apart from a few more test of the Promethion to check if everything in order we should be ready for the Etherion delivery" Ryoma gave a quick and vague response to end the meeting, not that he really had anything more to say even if he had listened to the whole meeting, apart from the delivery of the Etherion sample there was nothing really important in schedule and all security matters had been already been taken care of. Only things that could go wrong would be something unexpected like a monster attack and even then the pilots would be more suited to respond to that question than him.
Hearing Commander Shourichi answer almost took him off guard and a small laugh escaped from him, he still wasn't used to Shourichi direct, confident and bombastic attitude. Still, the fact that they had no exact plan worried him, even if Shourichi and the rest of the team had proven themselves to be good pilots and fighters this was a completely different environment than the Promethion usually fought in.
"Ms. Stoll seems to have some concerns!"
Looking at Hazel to see whats where her concerns, Ryoma just managed to see her last question <What security precautions are being taken?> He adjusted his glasses before responding "Obviously there has been a general increase of security personnel in the fortress and its surrounding area, patrols have increased, some areas have been closed to non-essential personnel, camera footage is checked more rigorously and other miscellaneous stuff, other questions?"
Age and date of birth:: 18 years old, born on March 6th
Guild:: Harpy's Wing with his Mark being on the palm of his left hand
Rank:: B
Personal Information
Personality:: Eric is an outgoing person, a trait he acquired from his childhood as a traveling merchant with his parents, with him also acquiring the trait of being a little cheap with his money and trying to barter with anyone that sells usually resulting in failure. Eric takes his responsibility as a member of the guild very seriously and is prepared to do anything to ensure that another Dark guild can't hurt anybody without going through him first.
The dark guild attack, apart from giving him the resolution to protect the village also gave him some mental scars of his own. Eric can't use his Take Over magic without the help of his belt, the belt doesn't do anything more than making some sounds and glow for a short time, but it acts as a placebo effect for him to initiate his transformation, with the curious side effect that he know yells transform every time he is going to use his magic. Another side effect of this is that Eric can only do a full body Take Over, leaving him unable to use partial transformations. The belt has become such a part of his life that if he isn't wearing it for long periods of time Eric feels useless and doesn't want to do anything and is adamant in using it despite all the evidence pointing out it doesn't do anything to help him to use his magic.
While it's not known if it is the remnant magic of the mage who attacked him or a mental trauma that Eric developed in the aftermath of the attack, Eric had the word “Useless” whispered into his mind multiple times a day and while now with the help of the belt this has no longer happened, hearing the someone call him or someone close to him useless fill him with rage.
Once he transforms into one of the insect souls Eric enters sort of a trance into what could be said to be a soldier: following orders to the letter and not delivering any mercy to those he considers enemies. Unlike his use of the belt this is something Eric has been trying to change as he feels that he could be easily fooled into attacking his teammates but progress has been slow.
History::
Born to a pair of traveling merchants named Marco and Eli, Eric didn't have many friends since they were always on the go, instead his free time was spent exploring the multiple forests they traveled during their journeys and looking for insects to trap and add to his collections, which he had to hide from his parents if he didn't want them to release them.
His interest in insects would lead to his magic awakening when they were on Luna Crescente, Eric could do a partial transformation on his arms and legs with little effort, surprising a local mage who told Marco and Eli that if Eric stayed with the guild and trained with them he could achieve a full body transformation in about 2 years and achieve great things with the help of the guild. Marco decided to extend his stay for a few more days to think about the offer.
Luna Crescente was a popular place for merchants and they visited here at least once a year so it's not that they would never see him again and Eric needed to meet new people to befriend apart from shopkeepers and other merchants, they had a few friends who could take care of Eric, there was also the opportunity to settle down in a place. And so as the days passed, reasons for and against were made but in the end, both of them decided on leaving the final say to Eric, saying to him that it was his future and that they would accept his decision.
Eric who was 13 at the time, didn't give much thought into it; he liked the idea of being a guild member but he felt he was still too young and it's not like his magic would disappear so he could join when he felt like it. So he continued to travel with his parents, practicing his magic every now and then. He would return many times over the next year selling different materials to the shops with his family, unfortunately on one of his visits to the city they arrived just on the eve of the dark guild attack.
Caught in surprise on the attack, Eric and his family tried to escape the city, hoping that the dark guild didn't notice. From the center of the city, they managed to avoid being attacked by the dark guild right until they were on the outskirts of the city. There was only one man in front of them, covered head to toe in a black robe with a completely white mask with no nose or mouth, only two completely black eyes. The man makes no move on them only standing still but an aura of unease could be felt, Eric knew it was to fight or die so he used his take over to transform his arm into the one of a beetle, closed his eyes and with all his might he ran towards him prepared to dealt a blow in the chest.
After Eric didn't feel the punch connecting, he opened the eyes to reveal that in fact, he had never moved, with his fist extended in the direction of the man; Eric found himself unable to move and with a feeling of intense dread that only grew as the man got closer to him. By the time the man was extremely close to Eric, the feeling of dread had combined with one of hopelessness and desperation, the air had become cold, breathing became difficult and the surroundings became dark as his vision concentrated on one thing: The man in black robes. The man leaned over to Eric's ear and whispered two simple words Useless magician.
Eric would wake up days later in a hospital bed, looking at the other people sleeping on their beds with each one of them having uncomfortable faces as if they were a bad dream. Eric tried to stand up from his bed but as soon as he tried to stand up the word “useless” flashed upon his mind, paralysing him and making it difficult to breathe, Eric gritted his teeth and began moving, barely managing to exit the room and catch the attention of a mage nearby before collapsing.
Now waking up with a couple mages in front of him one of them proceeded to explain to him what happened: Eric and his family had encountered with one of the dark guild strongest mages; Phobos the god slayer of fear capable of instilling enough fear to leave people in long comas without even touching them and Eric was one of the few people that was attacked by him and was part of an even fewer number of people who had managed to wake up with part of the fear magic of Phobos used still lingering on him.
Within a few weeks Eric was able to normally walk and move, the effects of the magic had diminished enough that he could move normally but it still affected him in other areas; for example his partial transformation was simply unusable, wherever this was the result of Phobos' magic or he is subconsciously blocking it Eric doesn't know. Another thing was the sudden whispering of the word “Useless” it didn't happen many times but often enough to get on his nerves.
To get money while waiting for his parents to wake up, Eric started working up on a Magic shop of a friend of his parents who had taken him in his care until they woke up. On his free time, he tried to use his partial transformation to no avail. Eric needed a way to use his magic again if he wanted to take revenge on Phobos and he would find his chance once special day one year after the attack on Luna Crescente. Eric was in charge of the store when the new batch of magic items arrived, paying the merchant and beginning to unpackage the items to put them on a shelf, Eric found something that caught his attention. It was a “Magic man transforming belt” a toy of a popular mage, upon looking at the toy a light went on inside Eric's head.
Opening the container of one of the belts and putting it on, Eric closed his eyes and began to breathe slowly, he began visualizing that he was just Mage man; a hero that needed to transform before using his powers, a protector of the innocents and someone without mercy for their enemies. With his eyes still closed he slowly pressed the buttons on the sides of the belt, while faintly saying “transform”. At first Eric began to hear the sounds that the belt made but immediately after he began to feel heavier, opening his eyes he saw his blue arms the same ones that he had when he did a partial take over with the the blue armor all over his body now.
Thinking “Untransform” in his mind made him return back to normal. Eric couldn't believe what happened, tears ran down his face as he realized he could wake up his parents now. Eric would enter Harpy's Wing at 15 and with training for 3 with the guild Eric has managed to obtain the Grasshoper and Ladybug souls.
increases his reflexes and speed, at the cost of making him really fragile, it also comes with pincers on one of his hands to use as a stabbing weapon.
Gives Eric a full armor surrounding him, capable of taking a good amount of damage before cracking, as a result of the durability of the armor, it increases Eric's weight by x5 of his normal weight and makes it very difficult if not impossible to run with it.
Sprouts wings from his back and two big antennas from his head which can be used to hear things from 3 miles far. Lastly he can secrete an odor that while not fatal, sufficient exposure to it can make someone pass out

Tatsuo felt his bones aching from the exhaustion, his dizziness had not stopped and made it difficult for him to keep a sense of direction with all these monsters coming out if they weren't so easy to destroy Tatsuo may have been in trouble. Concentrated in keeping himself conscious Tatsuo did not see the Kamen Rider till he was in front of him. Standing back for a moment Tatsuo took a moment to realize who was in front of him. It seemed that like many heroes he still had a grudge against him, which he couldn't blame him for it. Still, he couldn't stay put and wait for his arrest, there were still things he had to do and people he had to take revenge on before accepting any punishment for his previous life crimes.
Giving himself a moment to breathe and rest thanks to the ex-ranger, Tatsuo resumed his fight and launched himself at the swarm of monsters, addressing Kaiki while he fought "Midori-, no you call yourself Kamen Rider Spark now haven't you? While you and I may have bad encounters in the past what matters now is the removal of these creatures from the city, so I won't stay put when I have the ability to fight!" Tatsuo stabbed one of the monsters with a spike extending from one of his knuckles as he finished addressing spark. It was going to be a pain to escape with him on his tails, but there was still the chance of him recovering enough to use the acceleration mode to escape, leaving the Kamen Rider without any chance of catching him.
Jin felt his sword connect for a brief moment before a blue light covered the man and disappeared. Inspecting at the blade he saw that he had managed to draw some blood, but not enough to cause more than a light wound. The problem relied on the fact that the psycho wasn't on the floor crawling in pain, but instead had managed to dissapear and with time not on Jin side it meant that the more time he took at searching Kyoran the less time he would have to finish him off before the overclock mode reached its time limit.
Looking at Yuuki to see what was he doing, Jin hit jackpot. Near the entrance to the cosplay event, there was Kyoran or at least someone resembling him, Jin couldn't make out with exactitude but the fact that it was his only clue and he quickly disappeared made him completely sure it was him.Since there was no blue flash this time it was probable that he had a way to become invisible and probably headed to the convention. Putting himself on starting position, Jin sprinted to where Yuuki was in no time. Name: Ryoma Kougami: Gender: Male Age: 25 Job: Chief Scientist of the Fortress of Vaucanson Personality: Inquisitive and curious are the two things that Ryoma is characterized for as he does not stop before he can gain an answer to what he is looking for, making him dislike people who aren't honest or keep secrets. Despite how he usually acts Ryoma’s lack of a proper childhood meant that he can usually act in a childish way sometimes, usually when he is with people he trusts. To strangers and particularly seniors Ryoma puts a “mature and serious” persona as most of the adults he met on his childhood paid attention only to the older and more serious students rather than him. This persona has made him maintain his cool in stressful situations, though there are only so many times anyone can bottle out their feelings before they forcibly come out, fortunately, that hasn't happened to Ryoma yet.
As the director of the Vaucanson fortress, he knows that the Promethion is the main force of defense against the monsters that threaten mankind and a such the survival of the robot is more valuable than one of the pilots pragmatically speaking and there may be a time where he may have to make that kind of decision. Still, this kind of thinking has given him more than a few sleepless nights and has made him underestimate the pilots and other staff.
Skills: Ryoma is the foremost expert on Etherion and one of the creators and director of the Promethion project. Able to read and perform basic operations since he was 2 Ryoma is a mathematical and engineering genius, capable of creating engineering marvels such as the Promethion that other people wouldn't have thought it could be done with the help of other intelligent minds. Ryoma was named the chief scientist of the fortress not only because of his role in the Promethion project but also for his ability to keep his cool in difficult times and be capable of handling and overseeing large amounts of people and projects without breaking a sweat. On more action packed abilities tasks such as hand to hand fighting, shooting a gun Ryoma is horribly bad, if not completely hopeless at them, thankfully he has the fortress guards and his pilots for those tasks so he doesn't really care. Another thing to note is his nonexistent sense of direction, that often makes him get lost and wander aimlessly around the fortress if no one is guiding him.
Short Bio: Ryoma made it to national television at the age of 4 as the boy genius who could solve complex differential and integral calculus problems and fluently speak Japanese, English, German and Spanish.Skipping ahead several grades Ryoma attended a prestigious American college at the age of 11 where he would meet Higini Somporn for the first time while he was giving a lecture. Despite their difference in age, both of them quickly became friends and Higini would become a sort of parental figure to Ryoma. After finishing college Ryoma would become one of the youngest persons working for NASA at the age of 19 years old, working with other brilliant minds to finding more efficient ways to reach other planets. Unfortunately, they had to stop looking at the endless sky when the monsters started appearing, funding of space projects was stripped in favor of more military ones since if things continued as they were there would be no humans to colonize the solar system.
Still, the monsters were too strong as easily brushed off most the of attacks, causing lots of casualties and collateral damage before they died, which would occur in time for another of the things to come out and start the cycle anew. Ryoma worked with other scientists united by Higini Somporn to seek a solution and hope seemed lost until something in the aftermath of all the rampages was discovered, Etherion. The Etherion was a strange substance, with many unknown characteristics and properties, but with little info they had about, they knew it was their only tool against the monsters. People around the base started working like crazy, some researching more about the Etherion others starting the planning stages of the components for the Promethion project. Ryoma in the middle of the chaos found himself overseeing and directing the two sides of the project, being able to coordinate the two teams to use their precious time to complete the project as soon as possible.
Now that the Promethion was ready, the only thing left would be to find someone brave and mad enough to pilot its different components. Thought that task was delegated to commander Shourichi, while Ryoma kept his position as chief scientist and oversees the development of new functions for the Promethion along with other less scientific tasks like gaining public trust since he is the face of the MAX FIRE organization along with the pilots.
