Virathus was looking out the cockpit's window intently looking over the dense jungle while Rennac talked. When he got to the part about jungle combat he almost wanted to break out laughing, "I am Litharian, I was born in the jungle. And just for the historical record, a Litharian in the jungle is the most frightful force in the galaxy." He was about to correct the ship's course so they'd be on course for a landing zone when Rennac's datapad lit up with warnings, each one saying that the firewall is being breached, but before anyone could react a new message came, this one saying it was already down. Next the INTCOM terminal began ringing, signaling that a call was incoming. Virathus looked to Rennac with a confused and curious look. This whole thing was beyond his general knowledge and since Rennac wasn't very forthcoming about his system securities, this came as all the stranger.
Litharian Galactic Date 5371-239, Unknown Station. With everything finally calming down the Litharians returned to their original tasks, the most important was to mine as much data as possible. Yet when that was done and they had their prize secured in special data partitions on board the science vessel they started to go to work on the guass cannons the station had. The weapons themselves weren't particularly complex and could probably be replicated if given enough time and research. With that said they detached two of them to have them stored in the cargo bay of the science vessel. The ammo on the other hand was something out of a science fiction book. It was an interesting design that helped augment the weapons firing power allowing it to pack an even more devastating punch. While the scientists didn't understand anything about it, they took as much as they could find to see if they could replicate it given more time and better facilities back in Litharian space. On a more living note the alien specimen was transferred to a secure holding tank and both bio-mechanical securities and Psionic securities were successfully activated. It was only a matter of time until the subject awoke and proper studies could be had. Similarly several bodies of the aliens were and their scant equipment were gathered, not much was learned from their gear and it was quick to realize that whatever these creatures had came from their minds, making their corpses and the one live one much more valuable. "We aren't sure yet, current body count has us at over 20 lost, but we are still turning up bodies. With any luck the MIAs will start showing up alive, but my hopes aren't high." Said the Litharian Commander in response to the Wolkar's question. Whatever they were they came out of nowhere and hit they hard. A message was sent to the Wolkar fleet, warning them of the Litharian's intention to detonate the portable reactor core and send the station into the sun.
Virathus made sure to keep his word once he got to the ship, firing up the engines and making sure the ship was in correct order as Rennac left to make a house call. With the engines running he began to hang up his weapons back in the secure containers in the bunks, also making sure nothing was missing. While he had faith in the hull of the ship holding, this planet didn't have a single good soul on it's entire surface, so better safe than sorry. By the time Rennac came back Virathus was still in his armor, but his helmet was off for the first time since they got to this shit hole and he was seated in the pilot's chair, preparing the final take off sequence. Seeing the Wolkar he strapped in and waited for him to take the copilot's chair. At the remark he did get a crooked glance aimed at Rennac, not really sure how to make his confession, but he shook it off as another weird thing to come from his mouth. With nothing left to stop them he engaged the primary thrusters and into the void they went. Wasn't a few more moments before he charted a course to Felician and they broke into warp space.
Virathus watched as Rennac wrapped up his whole routine. Noddign when he made the comment about his good acting, "Yeah acting, I was acting. I took some acting classes back in training." With that remark he turned around and started walking away, leaving the stand and starting his way back to the ship. "I'll make sure the ship's engines are warm, feel free to go say bye to your girlfriend and collect whatever this guy is worth."
The Litharians gave a good cheer to the survivors and a mournful silence to the fallen, but a proper burial for the dead would have to wait. A collection of soldiers had their guns aimed at one of the fallen aliens who didn't explode like the others. It seemed like it was alive. "I want this thing Psionically and bio-mechanically secured now!" A litharian Captain shouted. They managed to bring the creature back to the science vessel and started to prepare of of the specimen tanks for containment. All the while stripping the alien of weapons and armor. In space the HAMMERs watched as their prize seemed to consume itself, the poor FERALs who were around it, they couldn't tell if they made it out or not. But with the enemy gone they began to fly back to the station. Issuing orders to continue grabbing as much data and information from the station as possible. Given the effectiveness of those weapons that became a new priority for recovery, even if they had to detach one and bring it home for later research. "We have chased off the enemy for now, but two of their ships escaped. Expect retribution to be coming. Grab as much as you can, we are leaving within the next few days and this station won't be left behind."
Virathus walked and watched in silence as the Wolkar went to work. Saying all of his strange banter and threats. Generally that wouldn't work on a Litharian, but this thug wasn't a Litharian, so maybe it would? "We simply want to know where the weapons went. You didn't lose them, and I want to make some money. I hadn't planned on killing you, but apparently my friend here is out of his damn mind." Virathus said, actually sounding sincere when he said Rennac was out of his damn mind.
The Litharains fleet watched as assistance came from the scientists and looked in joy as the enemy was routed and fleeing. Though they were not done. One of the enemy ships appeared to be limping through space, adjusting their lines of fire they began to focus on teh crippled ship looking to take prisoners after destroying their engines. Back on the station Litharian fire teams continued to engage the remaining invaders, casualties were appearing, but they didn't stop them from fighting. Their allies sure didn't seem to have any lack of faith in their victory. But the true surge of gusto came when the Cel ships began their retreat. "Switch to Electro-Dispersion Rounds!" Shouted a Litharian Leutenant over the INTCOM, "Try to take one alive!" In tandem, all Litharian soldiers took what cover they could in an attempt to switch rounds as ordered. Meanwhile the Karadons contineud to fire dense plasma rounds without an effort to change over.
Virathus stood up slinging his gun back over his shoudler and walking towards the door. "Of course we do, I'll be good cop." He then unslung his MAGNUM pistol and checked the BURST Unit to see if it was hooked in properly, "And my good friend here makes a damn fine bad cop." Together he followed Rennac out of the dwelling and let the Wolkar take over since he knew where this Dromun-Keran was positioned.
Virathus threw his hands up in the air, "That's bullshit, you made that up. Nothing good can come from a shit hole like this and on that note, fuck this place, fuck this planet, and fuck you." He said rather nonchalantly. Though he would never admit it, this place was kind of growing on him, and thankfully not in the physical sense. It's a rare place that you can just shoot an asshole and get paid for it. When the datapad fell through he didn't move, letting the Wolkar work his contacts. "Just tell me who I need to kill." He finished with a sort of grim tone on his voice. All this grime, drugs, and thugs wasn't is style, but having a target's name and location was. It felt good to start getting back onto familiar ground.
The Litharian ships took the stray hits in stride one of the HAMMERs losing one of it's guns but otherwise no further critical damage. Returning the favor they continued to release barrage after barrage of plasma into the enemy vessels hoping to break down those damn shields and see what they are really made of. Meanwhile the scouts continued to flank the Cel ships, one was finally in range but wasn't going to reveal itself until it got the OK from the other two. Back on the station, the guns were all set up and ready to fire and fire they did, all the litharians unloaded the full wrath of the station's weapons, only something was wrong. While they had eight under their control only six were shooting. It was in that moment that teams around the central command began reporting invaders were attacking the Litharian and Karadon forces. In response they began returning fire, releasing plasma and sword against the aliens.
