Artemis Eldon
I’m the only thing in my life I can control
Nicknames: Temi
Race: Half human half moon elf
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Artemis is short for her age by human standards and has silky dark long hair that reaches her lower back. Her face is pale with long elvish ears that bear two striking azure eyes. Although she is half human, she looks almost entirely like a moon elf. Her physique is feminine with built with a bit of lean muscle. She dresses practically and well.
Personality: Although when she was much younger she was the definition of sunshine, after some unfortunate events she has lost a lot of her light. Now Artemis has a logical left brained personality. Her thoughts are linear and she hates having too many uncertain variables. She’s blunt, straight to the point and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’s aware of her skills and doesn’t like beating around the bush. Many people feel intimidated by her outward personality but she’s actually extremely selfless when it comes to protecting comrades and friends. Artemis relies too much and on herself and doesn’t use other’s help often. She doesn’t want to bother them after all. Surprisingly though, the girl does have a somewhat comedic side, though it’s usually just rude sarcasm and dark humour. Artemis also has a giant soft spot for food and her pet cat Boundie that she absolutely adores.
Biography: Artemis’ mother, Elyore, was a relative of the royals in the moon elf society and she excelled in divination. Elyore devoted her life to learning about the world around her and has written many well regarded books about beasts, magic and artifice. She has contributed wonders to the knowledge of their world and had made quite a name for herself. One day, she disappeared from the headlights and settled down with a human named Bandor in a small monster prone town. Bandor was a hunter that took down the dangerous monsters that would occasionally come from the dense forest next to the town. He practiced Conjuration and would sometimes bound the more friendly beasts. Bandor and Elyore often went on trips to the dense forest to study the unique wildlife and elusive creatures. They were the only mages around so of course everyone came to them when they needed help with magic. In turn they were highly respected members of the town. When Elyore was expecting, many of the folk had high expectations that their child would go on to do amazing things.
Artemis’ early life was just like everyone else’s. She went to school, had lots of friends and played around a lot. The only difference was the fact that she had to study magic. She mainly focused on conjuration since she wanted to be just like her dad but sometimes dabbled in the art of earth evocation. One day, her parents let her go on one of their expeditions through the forest try to bound her first animal. After many many tries, she finally managed to bound a small black cat she named Boundie. The two are now inseparable. This time of her life was full of life and happiness and Artemis wouldn’t trade the world for ot. Sadly all good things come to an end.
Artemis’ mother had a clairvoyance fit about some sort of horrible misfortune the town would experience. Not long after, smoke started to rise from the forest and Artemis’ parents decided to check it out believing it had something to do with the vision. Turns out the smoke was a diversion to get the powerful duo out of the town. Rogue criminal mages attacked and raided the town. They destroyed everything in their path with absolutely no regard for the lives they were ruining. The town was completely vulnerable and many people, including people Artemis was close with died. All she could do was watch in terror as everything she knew crumbled around her. When she made eye contact with one the the attacker’s bloodshot eyes everything seemed to freeze. She squeezed her eyes shut to prepare for the inevitable but nothing happened. When she opened her eyes in confusion, she found out she was somewhere completely different. The next this she knew, she was passed out.
It turns out Artemis accidentally teleported away from the town from fear and a healer in a small neighboring human village took her in. Teleportation was a high class conjuration skill that causes great energy to be drawn from the user. Artemis was only a child so it took a massive toll on her body. Even with the healer’s animancy help, she was out for days. When she woke up the first thing she tried to do was to conjure everything she had bounded. Most of the things either didn’t come or were burned, all except of Boundie who had miraculously survived with minimal injuries. Words couldn’t explain how happy she was and she was pretty sure Boundie shared the same feelings. Although it was brief, the time she spent in the small village was nice and gave her plenty of time to think and mourn.
One day, moon elves arrived to pick her up. They delivered the news that her parents were found dead from assassination in the forest from presumably the raiders and that her godmother, Aunt Rei, would be taking her in. This absolutely destroyed her and Artemis felt like everything she loved but Boundie kept getting taken from her. It was at this moment that she knew she had to not to let anyone get close to her. She didn’t want to have to feel this again and she didn’t want to lose anyone important again.
Aunt Rei was a less than favourable caretaker. She would constantly say that Artemis had a great role to fill as Elyore’s predecessor and that she was expected to excel at everything magic and school related just like her mother. She gave her no time to do anything other than study and train. All the the unrealistic expectations that were thrown onto her at such a young age made Artemis feel like the only way to be worth something was to be the best. She seriously devoted her time into perfecting her skill and rarely got to commute with others her age. As her social skills dwindled she excelled at earth evocation and especially conjuration magic. Not a lot of things made her happy anymore, only her cat Boundie and the warm feelings of her early childhood.
Artemis aspires to leave the moon elves and join the guild of Alisjan.
Affinities: Primarily conjuration. Secondarily earth evocation.
Craft: Artemis uses a few artifice objects. She always wears a crescent on her head that shapeshifts into a bow. Her cat Boundie wears special lenses that allow Artemis to see using his eyes.
Magic:Conjuration: Artemis bounds almost everything she owns for the rare chance she’d need it. She often likes to bound plentiful and useless things like sticks to use as a distraction or feint attack. When using her bow, Artemis conjures arrows she has bounded that she can use as ammo. For the rare chance she misses a shot, she’ll conjure the same arrow again. She also conjures large objects or actual shields to block attacks. When goes in for closer attacks, a bow won’t do, so she conjures one of her close range weapons instead. Artemis also likes to get creative with her magic and uses conjuration to make traps. She can also do short range teleportation. During her time, Artemis has bounded a few valuable beasts that she uses in battle. She prefers to do this sparingly though because she hates to see them get hurt. Instead she mostly uses these beasts as mounts.
Evocation: Artemis specialises in earth evocation and uses this magic to get rid of obstacles (i.e. moving a boulder) or manoeuvring around. She also likes to make opponents trip by making the ground bumpy or sink by turning it to quicksand.
Skills: Artemis is greatly skilled at archery. She almost never misses a shot. One of her only hobbies is cooking. Though she doesn’t have much time to get really good at it, she still enjoys cooking thoroughly and loves food.
